Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy can be brought to TFM

Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.

I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

  Kumar Sanu - must be Artist of the "Decayed".
  
  Ehsan, after KNNH you have reached a decent status - a class above the non-musical NS-Anu-Anand Milind-Jatin Lalit.You have brought in the much needed sanity to HFM along with Rehman.It is a request that you stay away from Kumar Sanu in the lines of Rehman.

  i feel that you are the hottest music directors of today... A R R is history, even his hard core fans don't like 'tehzeeb'(you can check on the music forum teenstation).
  
  it would be wonderful to hear the combo of todays hottest MD's with the only living legend among male playback singers today....kumar sanu.
  
  in my opinion, your songs will find more appeal among the mature listeners if sung by kumar sanu, since kumar sanu has a mature voice, unlike sonu and udit (who sound like school-lads)

  apart from this, most middle aged people like me were romancing at the time when kumar sanu was singing virtually all the songs in bollywood...thats why his soothing voice brings back beautiful memories for us.

  you are being modest, the music of kal ho na ho was super-hit before the movie was released....i love all the songs, although i haven't seen the movie yet(i am a doctor in UK, so i don't get much time)....so you deserve all the accolades you get for it...regardless of the box office success of the movie.
  
  i have never chatted with a music director before, so i would like to take this opportunity to ask you a few questions....
  
  Q-1.how much does the producer/music company pay singers to sing your songs?
  
  Q-2.what is the price difference between kumar sanu's and babul supriyo's price tag? ie, how much incentive do MD's have to use babul instead of sanu(if you don't know the answer to this one...presumably because you haven't worked with either of them...then can you please ask some colleagues and find out:--)?

  A good question has been raised. Yes, I am also interested to know about the rates of playback singers, both male and female. I am mostly interested about Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy and the newcomers like Sunidhi and Shreya.
  
  My secong question is: does it vary from film to film? And, how much does it depend on the MDs and how much on the producers?

  It is Kavita from USA.Yes the price tag is a good question. Also Eshannji it is time for SEL to use Kumar Sanu and give us a solid album. Enough of Sonu Nigam voice which is not manly. If you cannot use KS then use UDIT.
  
  Just for your information KHNH is doing very good in USA this weekend too.

  On the singers topic, Ehsaan have you come over someone who has a totally different voice or style of singing???
  I mean look Babul copies Sanu, Sonu has a Rafi hangover Shaan also sings extremely nasal and nowadays sounds like copying Sanu...
  I mean a different voice a different style that we have not heard, have u come to meet anyone like that or close to something like that....

  hi everyone the price tag is not something thats affected us so far. we use which ever singer we think is correct for the song. i am sure there are singers who are used because there are cheaper alternatives.price tags vary from production to production ........ i am not in a position to disclose the singers rates .

  if you could please just give a general statement regarding all top level singers (sanu, udit, abhijeet, sonu etc)...so that no direct comparisons are made.

  Udit, Sonu, Shaan etc have sung in Tamil films and my personal opinion is that they either go and learn to speak or pronounce the language properly or that thry dont sing in that particular language atall!

  I dont think there is anything wrong with anyone singing in any language as long as it sounds and is pronounced correctly.

  Only 40thousand per song!!. Did you miss a ZERO by any chance. Looks like the singers are the worst paid of the industry. No wonder they do a lot of concert around the world to compensate.
  
  This is another reason why the singers has to maintain "good" relation with the music directors and producers even if they do not like. I have seen great singer like UDIT NARAYAN attending all small concerts by music director like Anu Malik just to be in his good book. But sad Anu Malik favourite is Sonu Nigam!!!

  i suppose i could ask any top level singer to come over to my place and sing a song or two for me...it wouldn't cost too much...a lakh rupees at most!!
  
  dear ehsaan, can u give me a general estimate regarding how much a top level music director gets paid per movie?(only the 6-8 songs, not counting the background music stuff)
