Bhavatharini wins national award !!!!

Bavatharini and Shankar Mahadevan are winning national awards for the songs 'Mayil pola ponnu' and 'Enna solla pogirai'. Anu Malik wins the best MD award. Any comments?

  When the award was given to SJ for 'inji iduppazhagA', did the NA comittee say explicitly that it was for the solo??? I don't remember them doing that. I think they just said 'inji..' They didn't say whether it was for the duet or the solo. I may be wrong, but that is how irresposible the committee normally is.

  Alka's recent National Award was for TAAL,1999 for the duet with Udit Taal se....Earlier award was sometime in late 80's she bagged....TNS.

  Ramki, if it is true that Alka Yagnik did not win a national award till now, it is really an injustice.She deserved it for many many great numbers she gave.I am also not sure whether
  she got a national award at any point of time. Can somebody clarify?
  However,I can recall that she has won many prestegeouus awards including one where an award function was held in England. That was for her song in Taal.She also used to win awards like Lux-Zee etc on a a continuous basis.A great singer , indeed.

  Your justification for Anil Kapoor's award is astounding to say the least. If working for 20 years is a criteria, there are more heroes down south than u can count with ur fingers that'll qualify..

  Alka , I thing got an NA for an amir knan - juhi film . I think the film is "Hum hai rahi pyaar ke"
  
  I don't remember the song exactly, but the song was picturised in jaipur forts. Juhi used to be in rajasthani dress.

  Man ! that was gross :-) What to do sire ? We are stuck with thayir saadham and maavadu still and can't relish pizzas( oh is it called puff daddy's music ? ) on a daily basis..It ain't no good for no heatlh..gotcha ? :-)

  TNS..i thought the award was for best music direction...and not just for a couple of good songs..if that be the case then bharathi and kandu... kandukondein definitely had better numbers. and to ur valuable comment on "us poyum...".please enlighten us poor souls in the US about how we can appreciate music coming from the likes of anu malik !cant the residents of the US differentiate between the class and the crass...? wait till some folk singer form rajasthan/ pakistan comes with his claim for the origin of anu malik's numbers...

  1. This award is for Film Music Direction not for an Music Album. For FM Direction award, IMHO, BGM should be given more prominence. So even if you rate Refugee songs as better than Bharathi (which I do not agree), could you please compare the BGM in the two movies ? (As I am not in US, I have not seen 'Refugee' ).

  Most of us go throu what the papers say and just blingly accept it.
  And we dont bother to go into the details.
  controversy has been there in National Awards since the day they started it.
  Even when so called a paritcular party was in rule never once Mr.Shivaji Ganesan got one single national award-I guess thats secularism!!
  Tamil famous produer/Director KR who was Jury member had to say a different story about these 3 bengali jury members who made hue and cry about the whole issue.
  I read his interview in Dinamalar where he says,
  this bengali guy is making all this because jury team voted for Bharathi and other movies instead of the Bengali,english movie that he and his collegues selected.
  This guy who made so much noice said 'Bharathi' is a worst film and doesnt even deserver to be nominated because it had worst casting,photography,music etc.
  so KR then asked him to see the movie again and told him about the greatness of this movie and about Bharathi,
  And you know the movie he(bengali) recommended
  its about a father-in-law having sex with his daughter-in-law and these kind of subject do these subjects deserve Award in the name of reality you be the judge.
  SEcond he protested about giving award to 'PANDAVAS' little that m'oron knew that it is one of great epic and beautifully animated with realtime animation done for the first in India had a great music and everything..
  So the bottomline not all that you read is true.
  Since last 3 yrs tamil films have bagged considerable awards
  Now asfar Anu Malik is concerned thats a disappointment I personally feel IR/ARR should have got the award

  I was very much confident that KKKK will get the award this time. This was till I saw Bharathi. When I saw Bharathy, I was totally confused as to whom to give the award as the DGM of the movie was really great and what IR did in that movie and what he didn't do in heyram and KP and all is the music and the tunes reflected that period. Also, it sounded new or modern. The feel of the BGM was like we were living in Bharathi's era. Hey ram through has a great BGM score but the songs,especially "nee paartha parvai" and "hey ram" looked a little ultra modern (mainly the instruments). But this Bharathi was great. I felt that KKKK or bharathi should have got the award. Also, now I see that Zubeida also contended this year. It also had a great music apt for the period for which it was shot.
  
  B or KKKK or Z should have got the NA and my vote will go to B because, IR had to do one more job other that what ARR in zubeida had to do like composing music with the feel of the period. IR had to compose music that reflected that period and the music or tunes had to be familiar with people as Bharathi is not imaginary character.
  So a tough job very well done but pity that it was not rewarded duely.
