I am sure as you all know that lately, Rahman's songs have not become what they used to be; mega hits. People have different opinions as to why this is the case... please share your thoughts.

welcome to 2000's,mr.anbesivam......using gadgets and tech instruments are much tougher these days than using ur own brain.......tell me wat instruments did he use in "Yeh jo des hai tera"(swades)????y is the song so gud????y is it better than many of IR's songs who is supposed to have the best musical brain in the entire milky way galaxy in the past zillion years??????

IMO, a nice south Indian carnatic music stuff is surely missing from ARR atleast for his Thamizh films. "Ennuyir thozhiye", though a nice attempt , is good only in parts. In his interview he has stated he would concentrate on melodies. Let us hope he composes some good songs in south indian classical like he did for "kkkk"

MADDY,
'welcome to 2000's,mr.anbesivam......using gadgets and tech instruments are much tougher these days than using ur own brain......."
This is the most unusual statement I have ever heard. Anywhere for anything in the world, technology is meant and will always attempt to make things easy. Not otherwise.
"Yeh jo des hai tera"(swades)????y is the song so gud????"
I did not hear this song. However, I gave him the credit for best use of synth. much ahead of others.
"y is it better than many of IR's songs who is supposed to have the best musical brain in the entire milky way galaxy in the past zillion years??????"
I do not accept this. There are some IR compositions which are evergreen. It is not because, IR did it. It is because, IR based his composition on classical music. For that matter there are lots of evergreen compositions by other composers like MSV, Shankar Jaikishan etc.
My understanding regarding music is this. Whatever is meant to stay evergreen always goes it classical music. Be it Inidan, Be it Western. That is why, all the spirtual songs always resorted on classical compositions. ARR too understands that. But for commercial reasons he compromises on this point.

In his latest interview to AV, Thundubhai himself confessed that anybody can compose songs nowadays because of the technology available. But our MADDY will go by his own theory.
Seriously I am thinking GOOD ASSISTANTS are missing in his camp, before HJ now JS. That is the difference :)))

anbesivam, using tech instrus w/o their know-how is really tough...u can crash them within secs......(i have seen my administrator Crash RS6000 server in front of my eyes)
u havent answered me yet,,,,ARR has composed many songs w/o any instrus.....wat abt. them.........
and going by IR-fans' arguement:
"In his latest interview to AV, Thundubhai himself confessed that anybody can compose songs nowadays because of the technology available"
then y arent there 1000 ARR's.....even if u tell me that's the reason for ARR's decline now, then y it took 10 yrs for ppl. to master it and then destroy ARR???is it so tough????y is still ARR alive in the industry if he is just a synth man.....
and one more thing IR can never compose a song like "Yeh jo des hai tera"......

Hey!!
He will compose a better song than that!jokes apart, Why is this getting into another ARR Vs IR thread?
Thanks,

Your nick explains your attitude better than your post. No one is going to invite IR to bollywood to compose for a musically important movie. IR and his fans cant even dream projects like Lagaan or Swades. IR will always be inside borders of South.

Can you tell me one full length song without any instruments (I mean not even backing up with any base line instruments) please?

I think you should ask this question to your ThunduBhai. From the interview, he talks like he is convinced about it. He only should explain why he said it.
--- ven if u tell me that's the reason for ARR's decline now, then y it took 10 yrs for ppl. to master it and then destroy ARR???is it so tough????
Again he is gone in 8 years, from 92-2000, not 10 years as you claim. Not all the MDs have been working on Synth from 92. So they did not take 10 years to beat him. They should have worked for a few years to get into it. You are wrong again.
Even if TB hadn't come to the industry in 92, Mahesh or someone from ad industry would have come and introduced the digital recording technology. But luck was with him at that time and survived by hype, certainly not any more.
--- y is still ARR alive in the industry if he is just a synth man.....
I think his career is dead as long as tfm industry is considered...
--- and one more thing IR can never compose a song like "Yeh jo des hai tera"......
Yeah! sure... As if TB can compose all kinds of IR's songs.. "yeh jo" though I heard only partially from the promo, that song sounds more like a SEL composition. My guess is Swadesm will not be another lagaan and a so-so film at BO. Desam will be a flop, both audio and film. Lets wait and see.

buddy, we r talking abt. a business trick which can earn u Rs.1 Crore in 2-3 months and still it took YSR,HJ,VS and IR 8yrs (96 months/2880 days) to learn that...jesus christ....going by this, then tamil musicians are a bunch of buffons......
"yes IR can never compose a junk song like "Yeh jo des hai tera"......buddy, that is a song abt. gr8ness of our motherland.....so more than an ARR song it is an patriotic song.....yaa wat else u can xpect from IR fans.....IR comes first and then India isn't it???y is it that buddies IR has composed a very few patriotic songs????

'What is missing in AR RAHMAN'S latest albums'
.....appreciation from the tamil audience,we tamils are never satisfied, when ever one person does something good, there are always four people to criticise, even when ARR produced Bombay Dreams,we tamils immediately criticised the fact that he re-used some of his old tunes-''so what' he is only using his own tunes, and we have to understand that its his own tunes that were used in tamil films that are being appreciated by the audiences of the West End and now the Audiences of Broadway,if u listen to Swades, you would see that the music is just mind-blowing;why doesn't ARR produce music like that for Tamil Films?
Well he'd either be compared to mediocre talent such as HJ or be compared to the symphonies created by Illaiyaraja years ago,if we appreciate good talent, more of the talent will be expressed.
So don't think about what is missing from the talent....think about what the talent is missing from us

Thishanthan,
-ARR grew up in the TFM industry before he made it big elsewhere
-He was patronised by the likes of MR and KB before he even became a big time film composer
-He will still be appreciated in TN if he produces an album with songs at least like that of 'alai payudhe'
-Definitely that kind of brilliance is missing in his last few albums, why is the question of this thread.
You are talking as if people in TN show no appreciation for good music while northies are all classy and that's why he sets his anchor in those shores:-( This very ARR was born, brought-up and appreciated first in this very chennai boss...
May be the money elsewhere is attractive (or it's easier to sell mediocrity there by rehashing some old TFM stuff while the competition is hot in Chennai)...
Judging by his recent TFM albums, it appears he's running out of stuff...(for even his earlier successful output, he relied heavily on inspirations, recycles, huge time delays, polishing etc. is another matter)...
