Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

Guruprasad Sir,
You should listen to the MICHAEL LEARNS TO ROCK (A group from Denmark) which is surely way better than Backstreet boys or NSync.. (Sorry Nysnc and Backstreet boys fans, this is my opinion)

A R Rahman has composed the music(!). Like all his previous offerings, these songs are good enough to drive youngsters into a frenzy>> Yes lot of previous offering drove every one crazy.
BTW, which college in TN or for that matter in India is like the "College" shown in movies esp the hype created in Boys. The cinema college has the following signs. I am from one the premium institute in India.
a) A bunch of stinking rich friends with one and only utter poor friend. This guy always wear shady cloth/hawai cheppal/never brushes the teeth but the girls usually flock to him
b) The guys have only one small short hand note book but packs & packs of cigar
c) Whover they are wear tight jeans showing enough bulges and latest offered reebok/nike shoes
d) the profession always teaches (a+b)**2. Be in english/psychology/medicine.
I think all cinema college made in same setting.

Why is there this consisten bashing of MD's in irrelevant threads? This thread is about ARR's boys, so why don't you post your thoughts about boys rather than saying boys is better than IR's or YSR's films. Why do you need to compare ARR with anybody.Likewise whey compare YSR or IR to anybody?

The problem is all this pindaa pasanga never got exposed to actual westerm music and world music. So these thavalais have got no idea how much ARR is copying, in the name of inspiration, from various international artists all the way from MJ to Eminem. Poor souls these piundaa fans keep on bragging about these mediocre, some absolute trash tunes and try to make the rest believe that ARR is world class...very sorry you pindaa pasangale....kanavu kandaalum ippadiyaa???????

How Vasundhara made Poda sound hip
Siddhu Warrier | July 14, 2003 15:07 IST
For the last couple of weeks, there has been a discernible change in college lingo.
When a friend of mine came up to me and mourned he needed a girlfriend (Ennaku orru girlfriend venumada), I was surprised. Not because he wanted one. He had never stopped wanting one (or more than one, for that matter) since the age of ten. But because he was actually singing it!
Only a couple of days later, I was initiated into the world of boys. To be more precise, the music of the Tamil film Boys.
The next day, I steeled myself to sit through the 30-minute bus journey to college listening to Radio Mirchi's radio jockeys mouthing inanities. I was in for a pleasant surprise when the bus driver started playing Boys.
I realised what my friend meant by his remark the previous day. But Ennaku oru girlfriend venumada sounded much better when sung by Tippu, Kartik and Timmy. I could see the song's popularity because in spite of our driver playing the song loud enough to rock the bus, nobody complained.
The songs of Boys, like the film, are made for boys. And, yeah, girls too. It is also designed to make older people hate it at the first listen. Maybe that's the secret behind its success! Even the cover of the cassette/CD looks hip.
A R Rahman has composed the music. Like all his previous offerings, these songs are good enough to drive youngsters into a frenzy.
The next track is called Dating. The song is about a guy who loves a girl and how the girl wants to continue to be friends. (Is it ever the other way around?) The track has a heady mix of rap by Blaaze and Carnatic-style music in English by Vasundhara Das. The manner in which Vasundhara Das mouths "Poda (Get lost)" in this song has changed the way hundreds of college-going girls say Poda. This song makes Poda fashionable.
However, the third song, Ale ale sung by Chitra Sivaraman and Karthik is rather ordinary. Lucky Ali sings the next track, Secret of success. He enchants with his voice. However, parts of this song sound suspiciously like rapster Eminem's Without me.
Boom Boom is by far the most hummable song. Adnan Sami's voice has a quality that eclipses almost every other singer who has sung in this film.
Maaro Maaro is partly in Hindi and has the rebellious spirit that was the hallmark of Western music of the 1960s and the 1970s.
The lyrics by Vaali, Pa Vijay and Kabilan, are like a breath of fresh air, written very much for us boys. Blaaze's raps (he has also written the English lyrics) are a refreshing departure from the mediocre rappers that contemporary remixes employ.
So, if you are young or just young at heart, Boys should surely be right on top of your must-buy list.

Boys sounds like an english album and that is it's weakness too.Rahman's blend of the east n west, melody n rhythm, creation n technology is what sets him apart from the rest.In boys there is no nativity,no melody,no creation. The rest are intact. It will of course attract teenagers who think they are cool and dont bother about the music of their land. This album is abt tamizh kolai at it's worst. What abt some Hindi kolai Mr Rahman?Of course he cant do that as his hindi directors will never allow that. What is this strange affliction that Tamil music directors have developed that they take pleasure out of murdering their own language. They all need treatment.I heard the director Shankar speak in MTV long back and he can't even get two english words right. Then why this attempt to do this?Is it some complex?I don't care whether boys becomes a hit or not.Even if it does it is not an album that will have longevity. And we shall wait for Rahman to deliver another Roja or Pudhiya mugam or Minsaara kanavu or Taal or Dil se or Sangamam or.....the list is endless,u see.You can buther the language in 1 song in an album Mr Rahman but not this.I am writng all this b'cos I am a true fan of music and I've enjoyed most of his work and I hope that Boys is just an aberration.
