  Ramki, move to bay area! I tend to use a popular place called mailbag; quality of the cassettes is a problem, though. VGP cassettes tend to be badly mauled, as a rule.

  Saw Hey Ram recently (most of DFers would have seen it long ago :) - Kamal has done a good job in Direction - IR's music blended well with the movie and plot.

  Quit recently I saw Hey Ram. This movie only for Kamal and IR fan not for public. IR BGM some what good but he did two or three songs it is spoiled the whole concept of the movie and winning chance of oscar thought by the fans. I think Kamal learn lot from this movie.

  2. MS Subalakshmi whose song, "Brindaavanaththil ..." appeared in the movie

  It is not a movie song. You have to go for a CD by the title krishna gAnam which features tamil devotional songs on Lord Krishna sung by TMS,PS,LRE,SPB,SJ,MSV,Veeramani and few others. The music has been composed by MSV. It is worth buying this for awesome those numbers like "GuruvAyoorukku vArungaL"(PS), "AyarpAdi mALigayil (SPB),"gokulaththil pasukaleLLAm"(SJ) besides your favorite "pullAnguzhal koduththa". Check the web sites like saregama, raag (webcom.com/raag) etc. for ordering.

  I am collecting some Memorable duets from films that were released in the 70s before May 1976(yes! arrival of the Maestro). Sure what is memorable to me may not sound so to others. But still if you could add your favorites to this list, that would be nice. Please accept my thanks in advance.

  Thanks for your suggestions. But I am collecting duets. Anyway 1 & 2 would qualify as one of the best solos of the 70s. However I think Thulabram was released in late 60s.
  I have written to HMV to release a duets-collections of different eras (50s,60s,70s...). Lets see if they come up with anything close to this. I see they do that for Hindi film songs.
  The following are added to the list:

  18. Eravukkum Pagalukkum Ini enna velai (KVMs one of the best ---- from Engal Thanga Raaja)

  21. Kannanil Sannadhiyil (Oru Kodiyil Iru Malargal)
  22. Vasantha Kaala Ninavugal (Moonru Mudhichu -- Excellent opening piece - though the singers do not live up to the mark, IMHO)
  23. Vaanamenghum Veedhiyinile(Annai Velankkani -- Devarajan/Madhuri good combo)
  24. Aval Oru Pachchai Kuzhandhai (Nee oru Maharani - Shankar Ganesh, I am not too sure here whether this was released before may 1976 -- Sk can help here)
  25. Naam Oruvarai Oruvar (Kumari Kottam which had that excellent 'Engay Aval' song too)
  26. Thanga Thonilyile (Ulagam Suttrum Vaaliban -- Not so memorbale, but Ok song, has that good chinese beat in the interludes. The only good songs are 'Aval oru' and 'Sirithu Vaazha' in this over-hyped movie, IMHO)

  uyarntha manithan is 1968. iru malargal 1967. 21,22 & 24 are post-76. praptham, 9, 10 & 25 are late 60s too, I think.

  Iru Malargal - 1967
  
  But others are all fine. According to this website http://www.sivaji-prabhu.com/19621972.htm (hosted by Sivaji & Sons) Paraptham/Engirundho.. were released in 1970.
  Sollathan Ninaikkiren is 1973/74 and Kumari Kottam I think is 1970 (may be late 1969..), sk help me here.

  balaji: 1970 is not part of the 70s, just as 2000 is not the beginning of the millenium:-) Not sure about moondru mudichu still.
  
  Veda is the MD - either this is a brilliant original composition or a copy of an obscure hindi song.
