songs have comeout very well.
side A:
ele machi machi--- sung by kamal and udit narayanan. sung very well by kamal, but udit's tamil pronounciation is not impressive ,but maybe it is intentional bcos madhavan is an NRI in this movie. colloquial and catchy. very good road philosophy.
mounamae-- good melody. spb's daughter makes her debut.
naatukuoru--- kamal and others.nice song. a rarity in tamil cinema. a typical song which is often used in theatres and koothu=pattarai. nicely sing by kamal. nice wordings by pralayan
Side B:
Anbae Sivam: sung by kamal and karthik.best song in this album. very, very excellent wordings. a nice, beautiful.sensible song.kudos to vairamuthu.
ele machi machi--- a repeat of the previous song in side A. but it is sung by udit narayanan and tippu. i think the first song in side A was better than this. i doubt this song willl feature in the movie.its just to fill in the album.
poovasam-- sadhana sargam and vijay prakash.
starts off brilliantly. one of the best melodies of recent times.

Watched the mvie Anbe Sivam this weekend. It is truly a great movie. Wonderful performances from Kamal, Madhavan and not to forget Uma (is the the daughter of Kamala Kamesh). A kind of different mvoie. The only disappointment was not to hear the song - Mouname paarvayal sung by SPB. Did anyone happen to see the song picturisation anywhere?

Anbae SIvam moview is very good ..But thebiggest disappointment was vidyasagar .This movie's BGM should have been great ..But unfortunately ifor most of the emotional scenes ,VS has sbeen silent .But the songs are good and picturised nicely
I feel BGM should have been done by Illayraaja

Hi, Did anyone read the Ananda Vikatan reiew? They have given 47 marks and say Anbe Sivam is a good movie and praise both Kamal and Madhavan and Madan's screen play. Waiting for Sujatha's reaction in 'katradum petradum' serial in Vikatan. I feel the title song anbae ...sivam... is too slow, though the music is good. Kamal sang the song on stage at the 'naetru, indru, naalai' function.

sandhya ,
what is the link ????
Kamal's performance is as usual extraordinary ..But the surprise is madhvan ....A definte award supporting actor .....
suprisingly ,kiran has also acted reasonably well ,considering her previous roles ....
Dialogues by Madhan are apt and very memningfull

Anbe Sivam Bombs!
Kamalhassan’s much hyped Anbe Sivam that got rave reviews from critics, has bombed miserably at the box-office. The film has not taken a decent opening in Chennai, which is Kamal’s only stronghold. In many theatres in Tamilnadu the film is likely to be discontinued after the first 10 days.
Kamal’s Panchathanthiram, his last release had taken a fantastic opening in Chennai and ironically it was telecast on Sun TV on the day of the release of Anbe Sivam. Except for a handful of critics the common man is finding the film to be totally confusing and lacking commercial elements.
Lakshmi Movie Makers, the producers, whose last film Bhagavathy too was a flop, is likely to loose over Rs 5 crore on Anbe Sivam which they were forced to release themselves as no distributor was willing to touch it!

Anbe Sivam is a wonderful movie stressing the fact "Tolerance is the best medicine." This is a much needed point in today's world. Kamal - as usual - has done the screenplay superbly. The 'surprise package' Madhavan also has acted fantastically.
If this movie does not go well (collection-wise), then we can stop wondering why 'dubba' movies by Sarathkumar, Vijay et. al become super hit !
People should not be dumb and be made stupid by appreciating movies like Bagavathy and other crap.
By all means, movies produced by Kamal, Manirathnam, Bala(like Sethu) and a few others are of good quality. The rest are all worth getting the award "'kuppais' of Tamil File Industry."

Well guys, dont take me wrong. I was just quoting sify news. I personally liked AS... i wish it does atleast 50 days in TN.. and not just 10 days.
I agree TN needs a bad break from the regular cruds like bhagvathy

But my only complaint is Sundar.C as the director. There are more talented directors who could have handled this movie with a little more extra conviction..

anbe sivam is an outright copy of an english movie, "planes, trains and automobiles".

Guru, you may be right.
But I have a question...does PT&A has the similar theme - "Kindness to fellow being" ???
Just becos both AS and PT&A involve Planes, Trains and Automobiles in some scenes does not necessarily mean the idea is stolen. Maybe the plot is inspired. If that is the case, then the plot of every movie (read Tamil or Hindi) revolves around the great epic Mahabaratha.
The main idea and effort of Anbe Sivam is not to show that two people travel from Orissa to Tamilnadu in Plane, Train and Automobile. The central point of the story is every man has to show tolerance and kindness to fellow being.
Off late, none other than Kamal (Anbe Sivam) and Manirathnam (Kannathil Muthamittal) of the Tamil movie world insist any good ideas like tolerance or kindness or patriotism in the right combination. That does not mean that AS is a preacher ! It has its own comedy scenes played naturally by Kamal and Madhavan. The story and the screen play remain as natural as it can be
with a little bit of cinematic fight scenes and other masala for the rest of the crowd.
I am not supporting Kamal in this comment, but I am bothered by the way general public accept worst movies thereby bringing down the quality of the tamil movies.

guru, have you seen any of the two movies? :) both are road movies, have their funny moments about two mismatched people on the road, and the comparison ends there. it is no way an outright copy. they belong to the same genre, that's all.

AS is a typical tamil cinema potboiler.Nothing new there. It has a contrived story line- the movie should have ended when madhavan returns the check to kamal. Madhavan has done a good job being the insensitive *rick. The whole point is to teach him a lesson and it is annoyingly obvious. Madhan's dialogues are funny in parts.pudhiya modhaiyil pazhaiya kaLLu !

Vikatan has said that Vidyasagar's BGM is titanic range ..I strongly protest to this ..Infact Vidyasagar has not done goo job in some scnes ..Most of the time BGM is absent ..In this movie BGM should be the key !!!
This movie is for ARR or IR as far as BGM is concerned

I do agrre with mumbai ramki in this aspect, the bgm went missing during certain scenes & abruptly comes in the next with a distinctive break...though vidyasagar could have apprehended gothic chants more effectively, he didn't...1 more sticking sore thumb of the movie was the camera...certain scenes was blurred(this one I'm not sure how many would agree wif me)...but the songa picturisation for the song "anbe sivam" was fantastic...

I think Mounmey song ws definetly Reduntant ,though it was good.....
Camera work was good ,but definetly not great ..I think Thiru should have done the camera ...But the camera was briliiant in pieces ,esp the scenes of Madhvan and Kamal Hassan in oriya

I watched the movie in Toronto. As usual the knit witts who own the theaters in Toronto have cut a few scenes from the movie so that they have more time to sell 'week old' pop corn during interval.
They did this with Hey Ram and Alavandhan too. B*AST@#$S.
I loved the movie. The chemistry between Kamal and Madhavan is amazing. Wish they would do a few more movies together. Madhavan holds his own against Kamal who does another monumental performance.
The only draw back to the movie I felt was the flash back scenes. The characters were quite contrived and un-real - espcially that of Nasser. The whole plot of the flash back looks like any old Tamil movie and lacks originality.
I think those ill conceived flash back scenes bring down the overall quality of an otherwise amazing movie.
VS does a decent job. The use of the song yaar yaar sivam as bgm in certain parts was quite effective.
The reviewer who wrote ' a child asked why Kamal looks ugly' should quit writing and stick to Disney cartoons.
A must see movie for all those who hate formula movies.
