The much awaited "NANDHAA" film songs (Music : Yuvan Shankar Raja, Direction : Bala) are being released today (21-10-2001). Kamal Hasan is releasing the first audio cassette and Bharathiraja is receiving it, at Hotel Connemara, Chennai.
The songs are totally fresh & different, and not the usual Yuvan's latino-type music. This album can easily be compared to some of the best of Ilayaraja when he was at his best.
Hear the songs and enjoy.
(The sample audio songs will be posted here tomorrow - 22nd Oct, 2001)

Hi Thaths
It's good to have you participate actively in this thread. My biggest regret with the album relates to the ethical angle:
Even if it was felt that the voices of SJ, VJ, etc. did not fit the film, wouldn't it have been more appropriate and ethical to have the songs on the album anyway?
You have anyway repeated 2 songs on Side B, why couldn't you have used the SJ, VJ versions instead? Don't you agree that a SPB-SJ version of "Mun Paniya" could've added to listener pleasures, even if it was not going to be featured in the film. Hasn't this been a practice used so often in the past, especially IR who can't seem to resist filling up his album with his version of a SPB or HH song?
I think considering their stature and the esteem in which they're held by countless fans, they deserved better than such cavalier, nonchalant, and arguably contemptous treatment. It doesn't speak well of a young MD, not to mention well-informed producers such as you who are a rarity in contemporary Tamil cinema.

kiru : Chances are very very remote ;-)
NeedD : You are welcome !
btw, mun pani = Snow fall of early Winter (- Pazhani Bharathi)
Hi Suresh,
I understand your conern. I would be the first person if the SJ song comes out in the cassette. But it is not that plain and simple. Trust me ! There are lot more political, technical and economical difficulties behind it ! :-(

In response to the posting earlier by Ganesh I think, You have said that YSR shows traces of ARR and IR songs.I strongly disagree with this statement, as it is a well established opinion here on TFM that Yuvan is the only MD at present to have complete originality and uniqueness.Just because a song is done in the same raga as another song, it doesn't mean that the song is a copy in any sort of way.
I feel that Yuvan has produced some of his best music here and he sould get all the credit for this tremendous album. I have not heard such an emotion stirring album since Sethu and I believe that it will be a definate contender for the song in the state Awards.
When I hear music like this and I think about the comparison threads between HJ and YSR, it makes you think that HJ isn't even fit to be in the same sentence as YSR.YSR is at a completely different level and HJ is not to be considered as an MD IMHO.
Well done to YSR for a great effort, I enjoy the songs more and more every time I hear them.Thaths, as mentioned before, please pass on to YSR that he will become the number 1 MD without doubt very soon and we are all behind him.

Thaths,
I was visiting Yuvan's Website.I am not sure if you are a person involved in the site, but we are not able to see the opinions of other posters in the fanclub section? Is there a fault with the page?
Also, the YSR, a new star in the galaxy of music is a great title. :-)

Of Late, Recent MD's concentrate just on Film Songs and never care for BGM's which gives life to each and every scene of the movie.
But, I found, YSR, (Just like IR) gives importance to BGM too, which is to be greatly appreciated.
Hope his BGM too will be good for 'NANDA'.

I know I know..I wouldn't have even dared to ask this in the first place. But now that he had sung for YSR, I got the guts to request this :)
I know it is a different school of music making and IR is making a principled stand. If I were a producer and suggested this to him, I am sure he would let the house dog loose on me :) :) :) and probably refer me to Yuvan, if he was in a good mood :) :) :)

after going thru the forum it is really good to see that there are some people who give frank opinions...in a crowd which is jus filled with "hype people" and hallucinated by IR...
way to go people...your review as a overall "okay " album ...is just the rite word to describe "nandhaa"

someone has asked the meaning of munpaniya song..
if suppose u see your car in the morning

there are two possibiliteis to occur that.
1.it may be the deposit of yesterday's night pani.
2.or it may be deposited due to morning rain
that's why the poet asking

Hyper, Nandhaa is a fantastic work by Yuvan. I definetely see not hype, infact the album is much talked about only after its release. IMO the album deserves all the appreciation.
Yuvan has the talent. He comes out with orignal music unlike most of the new MDs who mostly use the CPU.
Well done Yuvan. Keep up your good work.

Happened to listen "Nanda" @ Raaga. Must say ... I couldn't compare the music to anyone else's. It belongs to altogether new Genre. It must be rated among YSR's best and He's definitely in the top league.
