This is the same ARR, who gave mega hits until 2000, but since then there has been no album of his up to his standard, what are the reasons? I think when ARR came into the field he created a new era in music world, this trend became very popular, cos, most of the ppl loved it, BUT EVER since the debut of ARR, every single MD apart from IR, Vidyasaagar, followed the foot steps of ARR, hence ARR music did not sound unique no more, could that be the reason for ARR's recent flops ?
I strongly think so.

ARR was at the top, but as he has decided to move onto western projects and more hindi stuff, something has to suffer. In my opinion that is his TFM. It isn't a downfall of ARR as mentioned, but more a fading out of ARR from the TFM scene. YSR has become more popular since ARR's timely departure as it gives YSR more chance to display his creativity without being in direct competition with ARR. YSR is the new no.1 in TFM because he creates a style of music which covers all genres, whereas other MD's now cover a particular style.

I think Karthik S has answered that half baked Suchitra Ramadurai fittingly in his site.
He has provided proof. If you need to check then do so. That Suchitra blabbered some thing and you seem to take it with no value.
Okay...its up to you.

It seems Saathiya is on top of the charts right from day 1.....

LETS FACE it. There isn't anyone like A. R. Rahman on the Indian
music scene. He is simply the best and his audios sell like hot
cakes. Saregama and Rahman have come together once again
with "Saathiya" the Hindi remake of the Mani Ratnam's musical love
story "Alaipaayuthe". Rahman has sprung a surprise as it has once
again kick-started the sagging sales of audios, especially in
Northern India. Said K.V.Ramaswamy, Business Head (South)
Saregama: "It has become a rage and from day one it is on the top of
the charts." The feeling of being in the midst of a musical odyssey
is consolidated by Gulzar's expressive lyrics. The title track
of "Saathiya", which is sung by Sonu Nigam is the highlight of the
album. But Rahman fans in Chennai say that the original sound track
in Tamil was better than the Hindi version. After all, some of
A.R.Rahman's best tunes have been made for Mani Ratnam. Nearly 40 per
cent of the original has been remixed to suit the Hindi market.
Rahman has himself sung a new song "Mera Yaar Mila De.." in the
album. Saregama and Rahman has come out with a winner that may become
the number one of 2002, if the Vivek Oberio-Rani Mukherjee film
releasing on December 6 turns out to be a hit.

Are Yaar, you are wasting your time.
Vaathathurkku marunthu undu, virundaavaathathukku marunthu illei.
ARR's downfall has been predicted from day 1; however much to the disappointment of these people, his meteric rise is ceaseless.
Repeat a lie many times till it becomes the truth seems to be the mantra of some people, with vested interest.
Nothing you are going to say or show is going to satisfy them.
Let them continue to live in their dream world. And we all know what that dream is! :)

anbe sivam .. thankx for agreeing wid me..
people have to understand something here... ARR is down but not out!!! please.. this guy has taken music to another level... there are no two hoots about it!!..
if somebody is going to point out at BD and say RAHMAN is going steady and is the number one.. please u guyz need to do some rethinking.. in what way BD was good?.. it may have notched up nominations / runaway musical hit.. blah blha.. For u and me.. it was nuthing new..it was a rehash of songs which i have already done with...
i must agree to a fact that it was more irritating listening to the english numbers which sounded so beautiful in tamil.. courtesy SPB and Hari...
when we start to argue is ARR facing a downfall.. he is defintely.. KV had its moments. i am not denying any... but extraordinary effort!! .."hey enna achhu " will dwindle down in a couple of weeks after the movie is released...(that i assuming the movie is a hit).. the only prize possession from the movie is "vaan nila". that was def something new.
ARE YAAR ..
quoting stats from newspapers.. defintely would satisfy my people who refuse to let go of their belif in rahman.. u are welcome to do that .. but it doesnt prove anything..
Vidyasagar had the biggest hit in "RUN"..so does that make him number one!!??
YSR is making giant leaps (MANN NEED PROOF???) .. karthick raja "album" is something i would call purfect!!!
ramesh vinayagam" university" was fresh!! amazing talent that guy has....
RAHMAN made us move from mundanity with his new sound and execution of lyrical diction.... so its but natural to expect rahman to scale up high above the mentions MDS. and give something Rahmanish!!.. so far after Lagaan, i couldnt find one album worth tellin my folks "rahman has done it again" ... ceratinly the others are catching up ..
i think rahman should get away from the fact ..that composing a hindhi film and getting away with it allocades is a completely diff picture..tamil audience are a whole new ball game!!( sorry if i offended any hindi audience).... please quoting SAATHIYA as number one among useless thrash that has been churned out in HFM .. doesnt mean anything or shower merits on ARR... ( it was expected to be number one dont you think so?)..
tamil audience are more refined.. not just the glamour of the song.. but the content.. the arrangement..the harmony.... ARR WHERE ARE YOUUUUUUU??????????
:-(

Trust me:
Trust me, I don't know what would satisfy you. You seem to ignore news papers but your own esteemed brain will quote the newpapers in some other incidence when you feel that it supports you.
Sathiya and BD might be a rehash, but it is not for you. It is for Hindi and international audience. If you have lkistened them already then you are damn lucky. That's it.
Sathiya is now termed as biggest musical hit this year. And BD is having an extened run till Dec 2004. If it had not generated pounds then what you dream off would have been true. But sad that your dream is not Queens dream. She chose to see it as its seems she was convinced that its a hit among masses and her visit will raise funds for good cause.
So all banged and cried..you people have only one thing to do..just hope..hope that ARR will have a downfall atleast once in your life time.

Her Majesty attends a sparkling gala performance
The Queen's visit to Bombay Dreams

Her Majesty The Queen, who is patron of the British Red Cross,
last night attended a special British Red Cross Gala performance
of BOMBAY DREAMS at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.
Her Majesty was greeted by the composer of the hit musical, A R
Rahman and the producer Andrew Lloyd Webber. The audience also
included a host of celebrities, including the author of the book,
Bombay Dreams, Meera Syal, lyricist Don Black, director Shekhar
Kapur as well as the likes of model Jodie Kidd, actors Sanjeev
Bhaskar and Nigel Havers, designer Linda Barker, and former news
broadcaster Angela Rippon.
The evening, which was kindly sponsored by Bhs, aimed to raise
vital funds for the work of the British Red Cross in the UK and
overseas. Following last year's earthquake in the Indian state of
Gujarat, the British Red Cross has been working closely with the
Indian Red Cross on a number of projects including a nationwide
disaster preparedness programme and the reconstruction of primary
health centres and community facilities.
Sir Nicholas Young, Chief Executive of the British Red Cross,
says: "We are honoured and delighted that Her Majesty The Queen
attended this special performance of Bombay Dreams. It was a
wonderful evening, which has helped raise much needed funds for
our work throughout the world."
Her Majesty also met the cast of BOMBAY DREAMS after the
performance. Raj Ghatak, who plays Eunuch Sweetie in the show said
of the experience: "It was quite overwhelming to meet The Queen,
and to be honest I didn't know whether to bow or curtsey!"

Dinesh,
wats it abt udaya?? ....i havent been following these threads for some time.....so please enlighten me!
Speaker,
i guess Aalavanthaan was talkin abt u! ;)
well....wat can i say?! ... i feel ARR has become more mature these days....i enjoy his music all the more these days esplly coz almost all the other albums have this 'para molam' 'saavu koothu' kinda dappankuththu songs which i don prefer......tis sad to see a large number of such songs after the success of O Podu.....atleast in OPodu the interludes were really good....nice music....instead of 'para molam' stuff
PaetaRap,OPodu kinda songs are acceptable but not 'viralu visilu' and 'podango'!....some crap....unfortunately these songs attract the youth (most of em) more :(
on the other hand ARR is attractin older people more (who mostly don prefer para molam!) ... i am happy that ARR is doing wat he wanted to do....that is give good music not worrying about the commercial success (he had sed this in one interview....was sayin how the success of gentleman compelled him to produce commercial music)
thus i feel this downfall stuff is just a myth....while some ppl (senseless ppl i mean!) are losin interest many other sensible ppl are gaining interest
