This is the same ARR, who gave mega hits until 2000, but since then there has been no album of his up to his standard, what are the reasons? I think when ARR came into the field he created a new era in music world, this trend became very popular, cos, most of the ppl loved it, BUT EVER since the debut of ARR, every single MD apart from IR, Vidyasaagar, followed the foot steps of ARR, hence ARR music did not sound unique no more, could that be the reason for ARR's recent flops ?
I strongly think so.

Dig.
The best film director India ever produced is Shekar kapoor and female singer suchitra krishnamoorthy.
(Logic - They could do international films and albums, appreciated to height by ALW)
end dig.

TO ALL:
>>>>What is the reason for ARR's downfall>>>
..... what odnfall are we talking about.... did arr recently fall from his bed ??? :~
It is a fact that arr's recent movie has bombed , both songs and the movie. One might say PP, KM was great.... so what...the casette never sold as expected.... BABA, had great sales(songs), but songs were ok, I could back up this statement with PROOF.
But too bad for the anti arr "kosties" ARR came back with a BANG... i repeat... B>A>N>G. yes, i am refering to Kadhal Virus. Again, no matter, what u all say, abt the songs such as
>>> recently KV ..which was hyped( wherelese apna forum).. couldnt even guarantee repeated listening barring a couple of songs.. >>>>
u guys want proof.... go to MUSIC WORLD chennai, and find out. KV is the hottest selling album in town. Besides that didi u guys see the ARR kathir interview on KTV? the interviewer said, something like thi " ...KV is a super dooper hit like KDesam, and dhinam ...". more proof... ok, ye ye enachu is being sung by the in madras, this i found out by doing a little surveying!
So how could ARR "fall"
Someone said BD , wasnt great, ok, so why is it a hit , why do they have to produce it in broadway, and ofcourse why does it have to get NOMINATED FOR THE best musical section, read the guardian news, today.
You heard about the shekar kapoor movie hes gonna make in a yr.He said that it is gonna be the greastest movie in history (hollywood movie). He said ARR is gonna do the music. if it is gonna be like what he said only time cantell, but my question is, why does shekar kapoor wanna make the best movie with a "FALLIN" Musician? maybe cause arr is his freind, then why didnt he use him for elizabeth, and his latest movie. The only possibility i cud think for arrs inclusion are 2; either he was lucky that his name got picked in a lott or HE IS THE GREATEST MUSIC DIRECTOR. I would go for the second choice, think about it, greatest movie , and greatest music director.
I agree arr had a bad patch, but i could explain reasons for those 'failures ive mentioned above". but what matters now is that arr is back to form , not yet full form. since kv isnt a flop( songs) i think its fair to say that arr is still in the race, and no he hasnt FALLEN!

I don't think there is a downfall for ARR in tfm now. He is not active like previous years mainly due to assignments like BD. Heard they are going to make some small changes in BD and tahe it to Broadway. Thats going to make him spend more time for that. His price tag is also too high. Given a choice, tf directors and producers would like to have his name in their ventures as first choice. He is in the top ten (asian) earners in UK. So there is no time for tfm at the moment and it reflects in the music he has released so far as it didn't take tfm by storm like previous years. That doesn't mean its a downfall as he is popular elsewhere.

geeth ,
i agree that he is not active in TFM ..But was BD a hit ??Going by the casete sales and the buzz it created i should say it was average ..I expected a lot from BD ,but it was quite average ..
But his KV was good and i hope that will answer the question od whether he is having s a downfall or not ..
But the point is taht he is having a very stiff competition from YSR and Vidya Sagar and to an extent Karthick Raaja though he has not great hits ...

>>ARR is still a big name in music circles.. but not that big as before<<
that's what I was trying to tell, but many here don't read my post carefully, b4 commenting!
any way, I knew this will be hot topic :))

if ARR's name is not big...how come....everyone is clicking on the forums with "ARR" on it more often than any other forum?..
isn't that a proof that "ARR" is still a hot name..
to be critized or praised?...

as a proof currently, i have counted the number of topics here...which related to the particular MDs
1) ARR = 15
2) IR = 9
3) YSR & KR = 6
....see....so...who's hot? it doesn't matter whether they have been critizied or not....but do their names get mentioned, that's important.
critisizing could boost ur popularity....for example...Eric Cantano got even more famous with hi Kung-fu kick critics.....

Mumbai ramki:
The basic wrong notion people like you have about BD is that it is an album for Indian masses. It is a Musicals played in threatre and that too in only one place London. Yes, it is a big hit this year and it had made ARR one of the Top Ten millionire this year. Its been nominated for best musicals in several awards and only Music wise it has been nominated. So ARR is getting his full share.
I don't think I can prove that BD is a hit by any other way if you choose to coolly ignore the fact.
ARR is not too worried about his position in TFM now. He has started playing with International players and he is paid royalty for that.
ARR has climbed up the pit that post of the TFM is in right now. You should actually call this a uplift. He has actually made ways and shown direction to us in TN that the world is only too small and if you wish you can conquere it. The generation to follow will follow him. For which the generation MDs have to release theior album. Not just compose and keep quite and claim that they did bla..bla..bla.
Again I would like to quote my same example. ARR started playing International cricket. He wants to reach oscars, gramy and what ever is there where an Indian in his capacity could reach. If you prefer to play/watch ranji trophy then DD is there for you, which will bring you Interrupted highlights.
Choice is yours.
NOM for you in any way.

There are various reasons for this. Probably lack of concentration, depending on non-tamil singers, not using quality singers, recycled stock run out and so on.

ARR has been on the top of TFM for the last 8-10 years and there is only one place where he can go from here .. thats go lower as there is no place higher.
There were too many ARR look alikes who were trying to catch a position up there when he was busy trying to balance holding top position in hindi music industry too. If that was not enough he was trying for british stage musicals too. seems in trying to conquer too much he losta little bit of interest in TFM and hence his downfall.
I wouldnt like to call it downfall as his music (atleast i thought ) was good in films like KV and KV. Probably only sore point was PP that too by ARR standards. he is doing very good by any others MDs standard but not by the standard he set for himself

Paran,
Also regarding ARR experimenting, according to Suchitra Ramadurai(who reviewed Kadal Virus), he lifted songs from Album Saint and Tamilized.
Is this you call as experiment? That too taking too much time, money for composing and finally lifting something!
ManiRatnam rightly commented about ARR. ARR improvise while IR is profilic. You can only improvise existing thing and in my opinion ARR just inherit and improvise from others. Ofcourse opinion differs.

Trustme,
I am withyou on comment regarding songs in University. I don't know why it was not given due recognition and talk.
ARR and IR worshippers fail to recognize other talents. Recently I observed a group of worshippers for Vidya Sagar and YSR.
Once somebody starts worshipping, no matter what crap their favourite MD gives, they will praise. Oflate, I am seeing ARR fans becoming something they hate in hardcore IR fans.
By all this, good music don't get good recognition.

Anbesivam,
Thanks for the info on Kutti...
when people are saying that ARR copied..reused..and stuff...sometimes..it only resembles..not copied...
and for reused business...
i wonder if God (the actual God) is reusing his human face designs...coz..there are more than 1 person who look alike ...what do u have to say abt this?....(i may sound ridiculous...but just a thought)

you have to keep in mind that music composition is very time consuming and its impossible to be unique with every song you produce. every music director "re-uses" or get inspired from different type of music or from their own music.
