Awe:
I do apologies for making such appalling statements as you pointed out there. That was merely a reply to the following post in the same thread.

>>>Try to hear all songs more than three times
Why not 300 times. Enna pa kooththu idhu. If we say this to ARR songs then all will shout. I will try to listen these songs 7 times in my next 7 births probably. You know why?//
I dont know whether u will be able to do that -know why-it is because you will be a donkey in your next births-atleast at that time you will be able to appreciate karpoora vasanai!
sorry-could not resist that.:-)
sorry donkeys for insulting you:-)
>>>
I got aggravated by the last line & I have decided to write something about EMV & donkeys. I regret for doing that & I can assure you that I will not be making statements like that any more.

"You claim someone to be of international standard when nothing has been done by him to reach to international masses.(hence i said hollywood ..it could be even Honkong mocvies which have a large following)
He is supposed to done a thing which whould take the world by storm ...the symphony..and he wants it NOT TO BE RELEASED!
I quit the thread because no one came out with a concrete answer about his international works and acheivements."
I don't know what international works he did other than the unreleased Symphony, HTNI and NBW but if you want a neat compilation you go to the raajangahm site:
http://www.raajangahm.com/accolades.html
http://www.raajangahm.com/reviews_vamsy.htmlhttp://www.raajangahm.com/reviews_bharati.html
"Nice to see the list of international composers who have a made a mark in BGM in world movies. When is IR going to reach that list?"
The question is when are the Hollywood Composers going to reach the Indian List? If you can answer this, then the answer you are looking for is in it.
"Why my simple question does not reach you people? What is your base to say that he is the best in BGM ,apart from your mindless sycophancy?"
He's the best in BGM so far in Indian Movies. Just listen to it. The best judgement is no one else but you. The other best judgement is normally done by another professional in that same field. And in movies, the film makers know exactly what they want. Because its their baby. If they themselves can claim this(from the so many tv interviews, magazines and etc.) then who the crap are we to dispute this? Yet still there are aplenty in this world(of coz those who see Indian movies) who would vouch for this either simply or seriously. Two good cases in point: Rajkumar Santoshi. Why do you think he came to IR for the BGM for Lajja? Why do you think Kamal is a hardcore IR fan and sticks to IR and claims he's the 'Man For All Reasons'? (pls don't go into asking the childish question that some frogs in the well have been asking...ie 'then how come Kamal never go to all his other recent movies?') If a hardcore moviemaker/actor is so adamant in his believe, do you think that he can be that wrong? Tell me how many other actors or moviemakers have mentioned abt BGM in Indian movies refering to other MDs?
"Your anger at Rehman s international success and IR s lack of it just covers your eyes. For that you indulge in mindless mudslinging.People from Miramax-sony to AW Llyod to Shankar have been foul mouthed."
Angry abt what? What international success are you talking about? Bombay Dreams? Or are you refering to his movie songs? You mean internationally there are other races outside the Indian race listening to his music around the world?

"You mean internationally there are other races outside the Indian race listening to his music around the world?"
Yes. ALW is not an Indian. Neither is the Queen of England. Nor are many of the Academy members who watched Lagaan before nominating it for the Foreign Film category. Neither are the Japanese among whom the dancing Maharaja was a hit.
Now ambleen, if u want to continue discussing IR's bgm, why dont u do us a favour and take on the discussion elsewhere or start a new thread. OISG started a thread to discuss it, but one of ur kind, an IR fan "closed" it. This thread is neither about IR nor his bgms.
I have made a civil post to you and I am trying to treat you as another civilised DFer here. Please take this in the right spirit. No one here mentioned anything negative about IR or anything even remotely related to him in this thread until you came here and started an unneccessary debate. I will refrain from speculating on your intentions for doing that. Now, why don't you carry on discussing the various issues which concern you in the respective threads they belong to. Thank you in advance. I hope you will respond in a manner befitting your role as a representative from Raajangahm.com

One more discovery of ARR's creative use of natural sound !
I was listening to "Poovukku Enna..." from Bombay. In one of the interludes, baby gurglings are creatively synchronized with the beat. I didn't realize this when I first saw the film !

ARR Fans ..let's continue with the celebrations at least till the end of this year !
Let's discuss one major hit of AR Rahman from each year and what was it about the song that made it a hit.
To set the ball rolling :
1992 - Chinna Chinna Aasai
What was it about this song that made it a hit ?

Good Cos,
Let me tell you what. It was the huge surprise that probably struck every body. It was the first impression.
I feel most of them would have seen this song first in TV on Aug 15, 1992. It was a sirappu oliyum oLiyum program. There was no hype for the film and as usuall Mani kept the secret about the film with out letting it known to the cheekiest of journalist.
At that point of time, film songs with major rustic flavour was on air mostly and to add to that Deva had already become a name to recon with. IR too was doing only Village subject continuously (not his mistake though) and probably people need some fresh tune and sound. You know DD metro was getting popular and with Baba segal and other pioneer popstart in Hindi, people in TN were getting used to the new techno beats.
Chinna chinna asai was such a tune and sound that those people who saw the TV program on that day must have been struck by the huge surprise. Some thing that they have never heard about, some thing that is unusual but sweet.
And VM factor is a major one here. VM had done a great job in Anamalai previously and Magazine were carrying praise for him for his work in that film. Poetry probably was missing in that perios and Gana songs and again Village songs did not present the pure tamil in its sweet form.
The CCA song with its meticulous peom and excellent tune probably capture everybody.
And last but the probably the most important facture is the picturisation of the song. Wow, what a work by Santhosh sivan. Probably for the first time, I think a song had so many shots. One shot for one line. I remember listneing to a conversation between two people in train in those days about the picturisation of the song. I was a school student and I felt that even elders felt what I feel.
I think these were the major factors that would have probably made that song one of the best songs ever and the one song that changed the whole course of Film Music composing in India. All the rest are history.
I remember reading some where that KB had said after listening to that song that it was the song of the decade. I couldn't agree more with him.
Had that song not been there, you , me and everybody here probably wouldn't have been here in this forum.
