hi guys,
For me spb is the best bcos he is an all rounder/versatile and conquered tfm 4 a long time...But some are saying that upcoming singers like HH and UK already reached spb's stature and maybe better than him...What are your comments??? I am a fanatic fan of this great spb..so my fellow fanatics, plz e-mail me if you want to discuss more abt spb.....

imf sir, whatever lengthy arguments you give in favour of rafi , it doesnt carry much wait. spb is the greatest versatile singer india has ever produced and there is no one in sight who come even half way to him.

The obvious is blind in your minds. I didn't intend to swear at you manic_basha2001, but your comments pissed me off and they weren't even realistic. They were only what you thought. I don't think i'll argue with you anymore unless you want to because i guess i can't make you see the truth. But please make comments which have good backup support or else they are useless. Opinions don't make someone or something better than the other.

IMF, a straight line is straight. Prove this. Come up with solid facts and not some dumb "it is understood". If you can prove this one, then we agree that MR is the greatest. Until then I shout "SPB IS THE GREATEST"

Ok Swamiji, if you want to me to come up with solid facts that prove MR is the greatest then i will. You and whoever else must also come up with facts why you think SPB is the greatest. But listen, if I tell you facts, what are the chances of you or others actually listening to me. All people who have different facts and opinions not pertaining to most people's opinions, they get bashed around here. So unless you are willing to listen and explore these facts then i will take part. Otherwise forget about it. I will explore what you have to say as well.

IMF, the point I wanted to make is "SPB is great" is as self-evident as "A straight line is straight". Many greats barring their egos will accept this fact. What this means is for you to know is that we don't say "MRafi is any less greater". We have repeatedly asked to stop comparing because it is pointless. Your facts are facts alright, but when it is ridden with comparisons so obvious, then you piss us all off. You have so far achieved nothing by telling us all the greatness of MRafi, because we all know that is true - but when you sidetrack SPB's to MRafis achievements, then all your arguments and "facts" will reach deaf ears. Many northies know nothing about South Indian artists and musicians. If you are a northie, please go blow your trumpet up north. It will be heard better. If you are a southie and still want us to understand north is better - understand that we are deaf.

IMF...Swamiji is right..no use in comparing...so better let this go and maybe concentrate more on the technicalities of MR's singing and the way he has approached different songs..this will help us appreciate his singing better..no use in arguing over some stupid issues.

Swamiji, i did not start this topic nor did i want to start any pointless issues. People here started comparing SPB to MR and then i got involved and gave my opinions. People were saying such unrealistic things and making crazy comments about MR that i had to jump in and try to correct them. I did not intend to start arguments. We should not be comparing in the first place as you said. So this will stop now unless someone makes stupid comments or unrealistic opinionated comments. As cosmician said, we should discuss the technicalities of both the singers.

Mr manic_basha:
U are clearly a fool to say the least. Ur name says so-maniac.
spb is the worst singer. When he sings u feel he has constipation, asthma and an awful cold.
Woe to him.
KJY,Rafi,Manna Dey, TMS, Hariharan etc are all much better singer than the silly f****ing SPB

Is there any proof that SPB or rafi sang 40K songs? Say, SPB started singing from 1969 until now, it comes out to 31 years ( 11315 days). If he had indeed sang 30,000 songs, he should be singing atleast 3 songs per day.
To me, 5,000 or 6,000 songs in a life time would be humanly possible for any singer.
It applies for other prolific singers like rafi, Latha, TMS, PS too.

yeah, it is true that SPB sang nearly 40,000songs Not 30,000 songs, blocked voice MR sang 30,000, KJY has nearly sang 25,000 songs, I do not know about TMS, but no one is near SPB(the greatest singer in India), apart from Latha

he should be singing atleast 3 songs per day.
--- during his peak period he used to sing 4-5 songs per day easily.

e.hari in an interview spb said his parents (his dad in particular i guess though I am not sure) kept track of how many songs he had sung.
This interview was abt a decade ago and he had crossed 20K by then. he had also mention singing 4-5 songs a day and sometimes it gets difficult when a particular MD delays a recording because it succesively affects the other recordings.
so its true that he sings more than 1 song/day. on the date of that interview he said that he was much lower than latha , as of tday i dont know!
straight line: a connection between two points where all the intermediate points change values only in 1 axis while the other remains constant. for greater than 2 dimension cases I guess the requirement is atleast 1 axis should be contant:-)
we have had fights in the past swamiji but i support ur point wholeheartedly on this issue irrespective of whatever bad things u r to say to me now...:-)

as per the math, even if he sang 4 - 5 songs per day, there were days, he would not be singing any songs at all, and it should even it out. How many films would have released in last 31 years. Even an average 200 movies per year ( that would be even less than 100 in 70's and in 90's), would give us approx. 6000 movies. If we say 5 songs in each of the movie, it would come around 30000 songs totally, and out of that how many songs went to spb. We had TMS running busy in 70's and in 90's SPB's output have reduced considerably. Even if we include telegu, kanada and other languages, i would say 30,000 is a big number to reach. But I can agree that SPB would be the one with maximum number of songs in his name, but not 30,000 IMO.

Good explanation Bharath!
Forget the fights coz I don't mean them personally. Things we cannot normally do in real life we do in web forums like this. Picking up fight is another form of entertainment (atleast in the net).
Next time I will pick someone else :)

I guess the math was all languages put together!
And I dont think tamil movies wud have averaged 200/year. I think 120 per year is more like it.
Okay! I just got on with my friend on phone who had video taped the spb interview. He remembers spb giving a lower number than 20K (much lower infact). So I wud eat a humble pie and retract my above recollection!
e.hari u r starting to make sense! I wud wait until there is an official # (which i believe is non-existent) is released.
then lata's story of 30K songs is also in doubt. if the calculation of 250 hfm/year is considered.

For greater than 2 dimensions, all but 1 axes should be constant, I believe. BTW, idhukkum SPB Oda paattukkum enna sambandham. I know one thing - avar udambula 1 straightline kooda illa:-) (udanEy yaaraavadhu vulgar aa Edhaavadhu ezhudhu unga vakra budhdhiya kaamikkaadheenga):-)

Well, the assumption in that explanation is "an axis is a straight line". Actually, the assumption that straight line is straight is called an "axiom" - meaning a self-evident truth accepted without proof. Likewise, the self-evident "axiom" we are talking here is that "SPB is awesome!!" - so it makes little sense to question this fact.
Sorry about all kadis. Manchukobaa
