Compare and Contrast IR's musical style(s), especially with the BGM tracks, with those of composers of Hollywood, viz., Maurice Jarre, Henri Mancini, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Bernstein, John Barry, Alan Sylvistri, Danny Elfman, Ennio Morricone, Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, James Horner and so on

Regarding IR's stage show in italy....
This is what is written in the official website (http://www.aaa-angelica.com/) [You can go to menu on the home page, pick up the 14th entry called "quattordicesima edizione 2004".]
i have cut n paste here...
dr. ilaiyaraaja performs live with a rich, mixed, ensemble of 18 elements; his music, besides containing many different musics, can inspire reflections and meditations on the form, on its consume, for an eventual, possible expansion: by showing rare models and formulae, unthinkable for the western music song world or western cinema; it is an open form that is strictly linked to the inspiration of the moment, ready to welcome anything in a surprising structure, enriched by a, still so strong, indian tradition, where rhythm, melody, devotion and surprise travel together; it¹s almost like a kaleidoscopic song, full of rules, but also rich in expressive possibilities.

Dear Music lover,
I can appreciate your anxiety in maintaining some decency in this particular thred at least. But what can we do when people, despite their education ,culture and up-bringing, don't learn how to behave in a public forum? It is sad!
Day before yesterday, we took IIR to an Indian restaurant in NJ which was really crowded. There wewre so many people who immediately recognized IIR and talked in whispers among themselves; some smiled at him; some raised their hands in greeting; some were speechless; one family got up from their chairs and went to have a word with him; but, there was a group of Young men of 6 who were at the very next table to us who continued to eat and talk in Tamil wth occasional glances at IIR and these people did a marvelous thing!! They prolonged their eating for as long as IIR was there and just when we got up to leave, all these 6 of them raised swiftly, moved fastly to the doors and sttod in line and as IIR was leaving stood there with folded hands without even uttring a word! What a way to show their respects to a great Maestro! IRR acknowledged allof them with a sweet smile. I am writing this in detail only to make those people who have this habit of posting indecent comments. Thanks.
BTW, I did show the pages of this thread to IIR[as promised!] who asked me the purpose of this and I want to reproduce his exact words here without bias.
"naan yezhudhi mudichcha udane adhu mudinju pOchchu, yenakku. appuramaa adhula naan oNNum paNNa mudiyaadhu. nAA pOdaRa music unga idhayaththai thodaNum; mooLaikku appuRamthaan pOganum; appadi nadandhaa sari."
"[my job is over the moment I complete a piece; I can do nothing about it any more. My music should go and touch your hearts; only then to the brains;if it uis so, then fine.]"
Thought I will share this. Good-luck!!

SSSSA, IR’s legacy should be continued. It shouldn’t end with IR and that’s where we should fit in to the scheme of things, where we should let others know about his music, the complexities in his composition by our inspired writing. There are many profound music listeners who can share their thoughts, which will (should) be passed on to others. I hope the whole intention of this thread is just that. To showcase, how IR is capable of doing world class composition and how renowned he is.
To continue, following the funky mix, i have mixed together a track called “Love In Air”. Apt to the theme, hear as how the compositions are done, each instruments playing in a conversational mode to each other. All along the track, the mood is one of bliss. Listen to fabulous guitars, violins and how they converge together to induce a feeling of love. Enjoy!

Apropos of what Osho says about Johnny bgm, I would also like to bring to your notice the theme music of Tamil film Guru (1979) , our own desi "Bond" brand :)

For some reasons, the above link i posted is under copyright review. I guess they thought that the composition is by John Williams or the likes :)
Any way, i have again uploaded the mix again.

Guys,
I have been listening to the song 'Megam kottatum' from Enakkul Oruvan ... Thops was kind enough to post this song against my request, and I am totally dumbstruck listening to this song ...
What a prelude ... rains pouring, thunder clapping , and then a small drum bit that streches your imagination, and then the guitar(s) take over ... and WHOA! what an effect the bass guitar creates? The mood of the song is set right in this prelude itself!
Then SPB starts 'Megam ... Kottatum ...' with alternating guitar/drums combo, that makes you want to sit up and dance wildly ... special mention must be made about SPB's out-of-the-world singing in this songs ... when he goes 'Vaanampaadi Oyaadhu...' one cannot avoid or pretend not to accept it.
Then the first interlude with wonderful wonderful bass starts ... There is this amazing competition between the lyrics (VM?), SPBs siging, the orchaestration and the lead melody ... and the best part of the song is all of them come to the forefront as equal winners.
One cannot refuse to accept the fact when the lyrics in the song go 'Isai mazhaiyal vilakkugalai yetri vaithan Tansen,Isai mazhiayal nija mazhayai nanaiya veippen naane... ' ... beleive me, you can feel this HAPPENING when you listen to this song.
And finally the fantastic and unique percussion post-lude.
All in ONE song. Just for us. IR is GOD. Period.

and talking of the BGM of "Enakkul oruvan", its kinda a commercial movie but the scenes where Kamal sees places in darjeeling and gets his "previous birth replays" (or how do u put it?), IR gives a bass flute in deep sound... and the BGM on all the scenes concerning "previous birth replays" convey exactly the mood of the character Kamal plays... deja vu but confused... WOW...!!!

Folks,
Happened to watch "Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal" today on Ktv. Was the BGM really done by Raja? (Of course, the songs are a class). In one place, I could feel that the BGM was the similar (or same?) to the "Chaplin" scenes in "Punnagai Mannan". And towards the end in many places, it sounded like a hindi film BGM. (May be "Ek Dhuje Keliye")? But, it is no where close to IR's class. Could anyone clarify?
Thanks.

Satish,
You are right. IR-KB breakup happened during Puthu puthu arthangal time. It seems that KB wanted IR to score for PPA first, as it was a Diwali release and IR refused to do it. Hence KB used MSV to score the BGM for this movie. It was basically a compilation of BGMs from Punnagai Mannan, Ek duje ke liye, Sindhu Bhairavi and other MSV movies. Even Raja's voice during the initial parts of the movie (during recording) was dubbed during the re-recording.
