  Man,that is very bad news.Mayangugiral oru madhu really shook the TFM.
  
  He had the potential to make it big in TFM.But unfortunately got squeezed between two bigger giants-MSV & IR.But his contribution to TFM is significant.

  Some of my fondest songs from the 70s were by Vijayabhasker. Another underused talent moves on.
  As long as my memory lasts so will "Anbu Megamae", "Samsaram Enbathu" and many other classics by Vijayabhasker. His work will live on.

  I'm responding to an old query in the 'Creativity of VB' thread - iyarkai naattiya saalai is from Kalyaanamaam Kalyaanam (this is actually a SJ-TMS duet*ing Jaishanker Jayachitra). The movie has at least one other song that received a lot of play on ceylon radio. iyarkai is repeated as a SJ solo/tune/humming several times in the movie.

  VB was a quiet genius. His compositions were primarily melodic but always had an undercurrent of modernity. The songs from Thappu Thalangal, Soundaryame Varuga Varuga, Kaalangalil Aval Vasantham, Mayangugiral Oru Maadhu and Yengamma Sabadham -- all bear that distinct merger of music with memorability. Neela, his last (perhaps) outing in Kannada last year brought back that familiar feeling of quality and purity - and yet did not stoop to the basest common denominator to conquer its audience. VB, and his music as a MD can be summed up thus: Simple, serious and sincere. And so many hearts were moved!

  What a loss to the music world! One of the greatest music composers of Kannada films. The trio combination of VB, Rajkumar and PBS is unbelievable with hundreds of wonderful songs. He made great use of Piano for many of his songs which are quite distinct from others' songs.
