The idea of creating a web site for P. Susheela evolved in the threads
'P. Susheela solos' and 'P. Susheela fans". After 6 months of efforts
from many PS fans, the site is ready for launch as a gift from all of us
on P. Susheela's birthday on Nov 13. The URL is
http://psusheela.org
Your input in the form of feedback and any material such as photos,
artilces, and such is appreciated.


A small function has been arranged in Chennai on that day. Here are teh
details

Date: 13-11-2003
Venue: G.R.T. Grand Days(in b/t teynampet - Pondybazar)
Time: 11.00 a.m

Guests : Mellisai Mannargal M.S. Viswanathan and T.K. Ramamoorthy,
some other celebrities(not finalized)

We invite you all (particularly people in Chennai,Bangalore,Kerala &
Andhra) to attend this and make this function a Great Success

  1. I have been in search of the same information. I love the "therukkoothu" song from "navarathiri" and used to know the whole song (with dialogs) by heart. Now I've forgotten how it starts. In fact, the first line I remember is "sondha ooro iruppadhaedhu paer yaar thandhai", which is at least 2 minutes into the song! Sigh! (Remember the chipmunk like voice that says "Swami ..?" in response to TMS's "narimaNiye ..."? Used to have me in splits everytime - used to rewind that part until I just couldn't laugh anymore.)
  2. AFAIK, it is a TMS solo.

  Site Updates:
  We have some updates done to the site.
  1. The web site launch report is up with a photo album (you get to see pictures of Adhepalli, Kalai, Raj and Subbu) and scans of Media reports on Dinamalar, Enadu and News Today.
  2. Tamil Movie songs page has been updated on the 'versatility' area.

  The website is a comprehensive source of info. Wow! Just want to make a suggestion - if the list is sorted it would make it very easy for people to look up information. I had to use quite a few Ctrl-Fs, when I was looking up songs. Otherwise the information and the effort that's gone into this website are staggering! Kudos!
  
  Some changes to PS solos:
  
  818 - unnai oorkoNdu - I think this is from Poojaikku Vantha Malar, not paNakkAra kudumbam
  443 - malarE malarE theriyAdhA should be malarE malarE theriyAdhO
  
  I don't see "ponmeni thazhuvAmal" in this list. Unfortunately, I am unable to recollect any statistics on it. This nice song is the remake of Lata Mangeshkar's "lag ja gale".

  After some investigation and analytical thinking (!), I have found out that "ponmeni thazhuvAmal" is from "yaar nee?" (1966, Jaishankar, Jayalalitha), which seems to be a remake of the Hindi "Woh Kaun Thi?" (1964, Manoj Kumar, Sadhana). Madan Mohan's songs in the original have been put to good use by Veda. Here's a mapping for those who are interested:
  
  1. Jo Hamne Dastan Apni - Lata Mangeshkar became "en vedhanaiyil un kaNN irandum" - PS
  2. Chhod Kar Tere Pyar Ka Daman - Lata Mangeshkar & Mahendra Kapoor became "muLLil rOja thuLLuthe" - PS (with some changes in rhythm groove, prelude, and interludes; basic melody is the same)
  3. Lag Ja Gale - Lata Mangeshkar became "ponmeni thazhuvAmal" - PS
  4. Naina Barse Rim Jhim - Lata Mangeshkar became "nAnE varuvEn" - PS
  5. Shokh Nazar Ki Bijiliyan - Asha Bhosle became "pArvai onRE pOdhumE" - TMS, LRE
