Sure, era.murukan, I have both the songs. Raasa maga polirundhae is a fine dappankuthu number, with western flourishes, and fun-filled in its lyrics.
In fact, over the years, I managed to get nearly all the songs of Paathai Theriyuthu Paar, including the elusive second charanam of Thennankeetru onnjalilae. The only song that I couldn't get was Azhutha kanneerum paalaaguma (by PS, written by Jayakanthan).
MBS made a grand beginning in tfm. Unfortunately he was not made welcome here.

Thanks SaravaNan.
But he is still remembered thru the Madras Youth Choir he established. It is a moving experience listening to them singing 'Bharatha dEsam enRu peyar solluvAr' (Mahakavi Bharathi) or 'ammA unthan kai vaLayal Aka mAttEnA', as orchestrized by MBS.
Who can forget that genius who made thousannds of children of Chennai corporation schools coming from the lower strata of society to sing in one voice 'bhAratha desam enRu'?
MBS took giant strides in Malayalam film music, as u may be aware of. His BGM for MT's 'nirmAlyam' and the jaunty melodies like 'thAlaththil thAlaththil thAramban kottunna mElaththil silangaikaL kilunki' (Vayalar - MAthuri) is the example coming to my mind instantly. He had his own space there with the doyens DakshinAmUrthy ('swami') and Devarajan master.
If my memory is right, MBS was the MD for uLkadal (KM George - Balu Mahendra). Remember the famous song 'sara bindhu malar nALam' with a soft piano accompaniment thruout?
I heard the famous Saridon jingle (remmeber vividhbharathi? :-) 'orE oru oru saridan .. nEkkidum nOvu nEkkidum vali' was tuned by MBS. Is it true?

vAssan, well said. TN is slowly turning into a waterless desert, and there doesn't seem to be a way out.

bb, I think it was you who was searching for this song "Bhoomadevi pola vaazhum" by SPB-Shyam sometime back. I have ULed it here
http://www.coolgoose.com/go/song?id=70719
in case you are still looking for it
Its style is probably slightly inspired by "mera jeevan gora kaagaz" (Kishore Kumar) but nevertheless stands out as a good composition by Shyam overall, with excellent rendition by SPB.

Song of the Day: azhagE thamizhE from Thirumalai thenkumari.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/azhage.rm
- Subbu writes on this song:
"Thirumalai Thenkumari" was released in 1970. May be, APN wanted a break from the rich cast as well as a PuraaNa stories!! The story of TTK is around and about the happenings en-route, when a group of families and youngsters get together for touring places between Thirupathi and Kanyakumari.
APN after his lengthy association with KVM, joined hands with Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan for the music score. I guess, they paired from Vaa Raja Vaa (1969), wherein LR Eshwari gave a grand show with a little twist of her tongue for Master Prabhakar.
Lyrics by Abhirami Bhattar (Kalayadha kalyiyum), Poovai Senguttuvan, ULundoorpettai Shanmugam, Nellai aruLmaNi, Thenkanchi Bharadhisamy and a few more for bits in other Languages.
The touring multi-lingual group, lead by KD Santhanam and Seergazhi Govindarajan, consists of families and friends :-
- Seergazhi Govindarajan with his grand daughter Baby S.Vidya (later S.Vidya became a playback singer. Ex: Semmari aade semmari aade solvadhu sariyaa sol - from Uzhavan magan with SPB)
- Kanthimadhi (Old Brahmin widow) with her "kudumi" grand son Master Prabhakar (APN's chella piLLai !!!)
- KD Santhanam and his wife Seethalakshmi
- V Gopalakrishnan and his family (SasthrigaL family)
- Manorama and Surulirajan (Chennai Thamizh pularavargaL !!)
- Sailashree and her family (Kannada); Sailashree later acted with AVM Rajan in Darisanam as second heroine
- Ramaprabha and her family (Telugu)
- Usha with her parents (Malayalam); Usha, later acted with Kamalahassan in ArangEtram and Unnai Suttrum Ulagam (a JJ Movie)
- Youth group consisting of Sivakumar+Kumari Padmini and Chandran Babu+CID Sakunthala (this is not our old Comedy Star Chandrababu)
- Of course a bus driver Typist Gopu and his assistant
- Vaguely remember BakOda Kaadhar also acted in TTK
This group visits many places and temples like Mysore Chamundi Devasthana, Brindavan gardens, Thirupathi Venkatachalapathi temple, Madurai Meenakshi temple, Guruvayoor Sri Krishna temple, Thiruchendoor Murugan Temple, Kanyakumari temple etc. Each family as well as the group has different experiences, very well narrated by APN is his own simple but interested mode.
This SOTD is one of the great songs sung by more than half-a dozen of singers in 4 South Indian languages + special chennai thamizh too!!
Azhage thamizhe nee vazhga (Tamil) by Seergazhi Govindarajan (for himself) and Sarala (for Baby Vidya)
KaNNugal poothi nyan oru nimisham (Malayalam) by P.Madhuri (for Usha), lyrics by KKS Kumar Krishna....daasi naa karayuve bhaa (Kannada) by MR Vijaya (for Sailashree), lyrics by Sailashree herself
Paada-nunnu mansukkuLLe aasa(i) neriya keedhu (Chennai Tamizh) by Manorama (obviously for herself) Naa bangaraiyaa naa singarayya (Telugu) by LR Eshwari (for Ramaprabha), lyrics Ramshree (??) Oorellaam paaru ullaasa tooru noothukku nooru ellame jOru (Youth Tamizh) by AL Raghavan, LR Eshwari, Dharapuram Sundararajan & LR Anjali
At the close of the song, the youth group twist their waists heavily, thus the bus breaks buzzzz :- )
All other songs in TTK are also hit and they are :
= Thirupathi Malai Vaazhum Venkatesa - Seergazhi Govindarajan
= Sindhanaiyil Medai katti - Seergazhi Govindarajan & SaraLa
= Kalaiyaadha Kalviyum - Seergazhi Govindarajan
= Madurai ArasaaLum Meenakshi - Seergazhi Govindarajan, L.R. Eshwari & M.R. Vijaya
= Guruvaayooappa thiruvaruL tharuvaai neeyappa - Seergazhi Govindarajan
= ThiraLmaNi kadhirgal (Thogayara) by Seergazhi Govindarajan, followed by Neelakkadal vEgathile
nilam kondu sellaamal - L.R. Eshwari
As I mentioned some time back, APN proved that he can give mega-hit films even with rising stars too!!. He is my all-time favorite director who had the perfection and dedication is "padaippugaL".

Subbu,
In Thirumalai-Thenkumari, I vaguely remember that Sirkali was a Bhagavathar with his daughter (not grand daughter), rendered motherless much before the film starts!
In the Tirupati episode, the Telugu couple decide to drop cash in the 'hundi', as against their 'vENduthal' of a diamond ring, taking liberty with the Lord! Lo and behold! The ring also slips and falls inside the 'hundi' along with the cash. A little later, in Sirkali's song, there's a line ' maRaiththathaip paRiththiduvaay GOvindhaa!' when this couple is shown!

Indha song enna aadi perukku special kadhamba saadamaa?

Good recollection CV!! As I mentioned each group undergo different experience. The Tirupathi episode is one among such interesting tales. But do you see such crowd-less scenario near the Hundi of Tirupathi these days??????
BTW, which part of the kadamba saadham you like in this multi-lingual song?
My vote for that part rendered with genuine innocent-ness by Manorama. She shows vetkam in her face screaming "ayyo paata nammakku vOnAm-ba". But finally she sings....
Pada-nunnu mansukkuLe aasa neriya keedhu
Athay paada sollO beiyum [fear :-)] vandhu munne nikkedhu (repeat)
Immam periya sabayile [crowd in the bus :-)] innatha paaduradhu... uuuuuuu (repeat)
Themmangu paadavaa thillattaangu pOdavaa (repeat)
Toppu-pathiri tape-paisa rayyan rappal sayyan sappal tappanguththu inna type-pu vONoooom
She repeats her pallavi (???) again and ends screaching keeeeeeeeeeeeeeedhu... A class demo of chennai thamizh by Manorama. You must watch Suruli's reaction while Manorama sings... full of fun yaar !!!
A great film which satisfied many group of viewers!!
