5 is also available in gireesan's site.
Sree, you may wish to take a look at the page for Mastro's songs links. This will give you an idea of which songs to leave and which to be encoded.
I think only 13 is not available in any of the sites.
Rex:
Sorry. Can we fix it after this weekend ? I am going to Virginia :-(
I am sorry RB for postponing the chat from my side :-(

Friends,
I just came back from Madras and recorded lots of old IR hits from the shop 'Fantastic electricals' located near Kellys Round Tana diagonally opposite to Abhirami theater. Mr.Muhammed is the person who does the recording. Recording quality is definitely not all that great but they have amazing (almost complete) collection of old IR songs. It was a pudhayal for me. Recorded nearly 250 not so popular yet melodious numbers of IR. Anybody visiting Madras needs to visit this store.
Again, the quality of recording is not all that great, though.

Sriram,
Do they have 'Eera Vizhi Kaaviyangal' kind of stuff? Do they do CD recording?

Friends:
As MS mentioned, we can see most of the well known songs are already available on the net(That is except no. 13 every song is available on the net). But, there are still a number of rare songs are missing. Frankly, it is a tough job to find out whether the song any web master has, has already been uploaded at some site. That is why, I really appreciate whole heartedly the job, MS and Vijay are doing. Of course the list will be perused by Web masters as well by listeners.

Murali,
I myself already have Eeravizhi kaaviyangal and ofcourse they do. They have songs from absolutely unknown films which IR has tuned and I was amazed on listening to some songs which I picked from the list - they put me through nostalgic memories. I shall soon give the list of some fabulous songs which I recorded from them.

Murali,
They do CD recording also. But I do not know if they have enough collections.
I finally got hold of these songs which I was searching for long long time viz.. 1) maanodum paadhayiley valli kaarodi pogayiley by PSusheela from Saaindhaadamma Saaindhaadu, 2) Aayiram kodi kaalangalaaga anandha leelayin naayagan neeyey by Balamuralikrishna from Kavikuyil, 3) theril aadum roja poonthendral aadakandaen from Avar enakkey sondham, 4) oru kaadhal enbadhu enn nenjil ulladhu, enn nenjil ulladhu kannil vandhadhadi by SPB and SJ from Chinna thambi periyathambi etc.
Really thrilled.
Sitaram, Mr.Muhammed remembers one Mr.Yokesh kumar who lives in US and has recorded hundreds and hundreds of songs from them. He was pleasantly shocked when I told him that I learnt about his stores through TFM forum in the internet.
It is sorrowful to see those valuable LPs and EPs of old IR hits lying amidst heavy dust. Absolutely no maintenance. I have told him that many of this forum visitors will be interested in getting them recorded and he is considering a major clean up!!!!

Sriram,
Nice to hear that he has most of the collections (though it is very bad to hear that they are in the dust). Can you put them on the web or even just record those amazing numbers and send it to one of the webmasters. We would all really love to hear those nostalgic numbers.
BTW, a small digression guys. We hear a lot IR admiring Paul Mauriat. Can anyone point to any website abt him/his music? Can anyone tell which collection/album of him is really worth buying?

Murali,
I shall soon record some of those lilting songs and send them to the webmaster either Rex or you.
But you have to work hard to eliminate the noise and the wavy voice in the songs. This is becoz of the poor maintenance of the LPs. I have still not completed recording all their collections!!!

Sriram, you are right. I go there whenever I am in India. They don't know my name, but I am a regular there. Before Ibrahim was there, then Muhammad helped me. He still has not completed recording of some of my requests. They make you run for it several times. Just typical attitude of a store owner in Chennai. The LPs are not maintained at all. Once he told me that he was going to sell the store as old film music was not selling anymore! Now he would have changed his mind since you spoke about TFM

Sriram,
You have given me a good news.Since I am planning to make a trip there, I will surely go there and grab all those songs.
Thanks for the info.
Are you the one who asked for "aruvadai naal" --Ola kuruthola song?

on: Tue Jun 29 18:17:13 EDT 1999
Balaji,
No I did not. But I have recorded that song now from Muhammed. It is pretty good.
Sitaram,
You are absolutely correct. They made me to visit their store atleast 4 times to get all of my cassettes recorded. But I was too enthusiastic to somehow get these songs into my collection and just didn't mind this treatment.
Balaji, be prepared for these wasteful trips. Call their stores and cross check before you go.

whatever I say, Mr.Muhammed is always cheerful and is ready to help you out provided you pick those LPs yourself and give them to him. They do not maintain a list of the songs they possess. We have to search their mega collection. I got so tired by picking so innumerable IR records that I had to come twice to finish the song selection process alone!

Hi Friends,
How about uploading MP3 versions of songs available in CDs? Most of IR songs have to be listened in their full splendour. People in College(with high connection speed) will be able to do it easily. Dialup users will find it tough:-((.
Just a suggesion.

Hi Everybody(MS, Murali, REX, RB)

Thanks.

Shibu:
I do not if you smelled my intentions :-). I am working with swara.com to make the necessary arrangements for mp3 site.
Sriram:
May I ask you a big favour ? As and when I list the songs, can you fill in here the missing songs ? That will be of great help for a compilation.
I am sure NN and all others too will be in a position to help me.
Thx
MS
