Lyrics - The Golden 70s

The 70s is a special period for me and holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately it is a period overlooked by many people and we hardly hear songs from this period nowadays.

Whenever, I have the time, I would like to share the lyrics of some of my favourites and have discussions of this period.

  The 70s was a transition period with MSV handing over the baton to IR. I am being diplomatic here. :)
  MSV replaced TMS with KJJ and SPB during this period.
  IR of the 70s and IR of the 80s was also different.
  The 70s was also the period when Sivaji and MGR declined from being top heroes, the former because of age and the latter, politics.

  Gowri: Since you have decided to honor the lyrics of the 70s, wouldn't it be appropriate to mention the lyricists who created these masterpieces ? In some cases you have mentioned Kannadasan - please include all other lyricists too.
  Otherwise, some naive forumers might come to the conclusion that the MDs are responsible for the lyrics (or are they responsible only for vulgar/crass lyrics?) :-)

  It is naive to believe that MDs have no control over lyrics. From the time of MKTB, MD’s hold
  an exalted position in movie making.
  But as rightfully pointed out, lyricists should be credited, and I will try to do it, wherever
  possible, in future.

  Today, I would like to dedicate some songs of KJ Jesudass. I am sure many of you will feel a
  rush of nostalgia. The first song is from the movie Then Sinthuthe Vaanam. This song moved

  Good job Raj. I vaguely remember the movie. There is a sentiment that when movies are named after "fierce" figures, some things unfortunate would happen. That was the talk then when Badrakali was released as is now when Narasimha was released. The director of Narasimha met with an accident and passed away too.

  Lest people think that only sentimental songs were ruling the roost in the 70s, let me put forth a very popular dance number of that period. In this movie Sivakumar was the hero and if memory serves me right, Kamlahasan was sort of the villain. :)
  
  The movie was Pattikaattu Raaja. And like today, Vaali excelled in these kind of songs. :)
