talking of "Boys", i feel the song that goes "Sarigame padanise" rhythm pattern is similar to a Michael Jackson/Janet Jackson combo song in "History" album, which MJ sang on his trip to India.

I remember one more song by Vidyasagar that sounds
very simillar to John Denver's song "Sunshine..".
The song by Vidyasagar is "Poovekleam siragu mulaithathu enthan thotathil..." [ It's one of Ajith's movie ].

Vidhya sagar's "Kaadhal vandhathum kanniyin ullam" from "Poovellaam un vaasam" is just another version of Ilaiyaraja's "Sangathil Paadaatha kavithai" from "autoraja"

"Kaadhal vandhathum kanniyin ullam" from "Poovellaam un vaasam" is actually a slower version of Ilaiyaraja's Malayalm Song by S.Janaki released during 80's. It is a beautiful Mal Song, with excellent violin pieces.

Sri!
Is the song from the film "Olangal?"
the song which i have mentioned("Sangathil Paadaatha kavithai" from "Autoraja") is a beautiful duet melody by Ilaiyaraaja and S.Janaki.
After that the same tune is used in Malayalam "Olangal" and the same tune is used in kannada movie(Balumahendra's)(Kokila?)
Another Balumahendra's film "Kanne kalaimaane" starring banuchander and archana has a song "Neerutru thee mootuthey"(s.jANAKI)
'Aur ek prem kahani' -another Balu mahendra's hindi movie starring Revathi and Ramesh arvind contains the same tune with some western touch.
"Sunday tho."
so,i think Balu mahendra's most favourite song is that only.
Is "olangal" directed by Balu mahendra?

in addition to that the sangaththil paadaadha kavidha tune comes as a humming by IR himself as BGM in moondRaam pirai. It comes in the scene where kamal sees sridevi in the brothel house for the first time.

The film is not 'Olangal'. It sounds something like 'Pachangni'. The song has some childrens's gigling towards the end. It is a typical S.Janaki's Song with her mesmerizing voice.

Yet another Jingle, copying IR:
This time, the ad-guys (Balki - Lintas?) have copied IR's ever green, "Pon MAlai Pozhudu" in the recent Kissan Jam commercial.

A.R.Rehaman's "Oru Poiyavadhu sol kannae.." from
Jodi seems to be inspired/copied from
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Californication.

What about the song, "Maro Maro" from boys. It does similar to Queens "We will we will rock you". The boys song is a little bit faster compared to the queen's song.

'californication' came much after rahman's jodi. in fact, californication was released in 2000, whereas jodi was much before that [remember, the original was in hindi 'doli sajake rakhna']

By the truefacts, "Oru poiyavathu soll kanney" was not in the Hindi movie. That song was included exclusively for Jodi. Its a new song. Do u think RHCP will copy from Rahman (supposedly genius)? Where Rahman is the one who blantantly copies from other geniuses

Have you ever wondered if the fast guitar piece at the end of the song 'Muqabla Muqabla' in Kadhalan resembles the one in Bob Dylan's 'Things Have Changed'

"Rahman (supposedly genius)? Where Rahman is the one who blantantly copies from other geniuses"
Pls refrain from making these kind of statements...It is like you are talking as if you are the authority in Indian and Western music. Both Ilayaraja and Rahman are geniuses in their own rite...
Everybody knows that ALW called ARRahman because he is really good in what he does..

ALW called AR Rehman because he was recommended to him by Shekar Kapoor who was common friends to both ARR and ALW.
The way it is being spun by the ARR sympathizers are as if ALW independently did an evaluation of all the Indian composers and chose AR Rehman as the best among them. This is not true.
Shekar Kapur introduced ARR's music to ALW who was palnning a Broadway show on Bollywood. He liked the music and signed him. Do not heed to overstatement of how ALW chose ARR.

on: Wed Sep 17 19:02:02 EDT 2003
Jst because shekar kapur recommended him doesnt necessarily mean that ALW didnt evaluate.ALW himself is a great musician.do u think he would have selected solely based on reco...no way..also it is a million dollar production.he wouldnt base it on just recos..

do u ever think ALW or any producer will say something like "I chose to work with XYZ just because he gives ultimate crap in the world"? :-)) Its normal to speak high of the guy whom you work with. :-)

on: Thu Sep 18 07:12:38 EDT 2003
Well....guys...Shekar Kapur showed Dil Se video to ALW (for the music of course)...
now..out of 500 songs of ARR (based on ur calculations)..SK found at least 1 to show to a person, with high calibre like ALW..
but sadly..out of 4500 ++ songs...he found none to show to ALW?...why is that so?...
- From: Jag (@ 12.210.64.94)
on: Thu Sep 18 11:10:18 EDT 2003
Because out of the 4500+ songs not even 20 songs were related to current bollywood trend. Movies like Sadma, Kamagni and Mahadev don't figure as bollywood popular movies. If it was not ARR ALW would have picked the next most popular MD for his musical, if he had the intent to pick one, if not ARR fans do have a lot to feel proud about. But who knows?
- From: kum (@ 146.184.0.71)
on: Thu Sep 18 11:37:46 EDT 2003
paran,
its because ALW needs only crap songs..not a real good one. Thats y SK should have introduced ARR to ALW...yenda vaya kilaringa....
