If SP Bala is so great , why has Bollywood rejected him?

SP bala never sings in hindi...he is not in demand!

By the way I am being devils advocate here, I myself am a great fan of SP bala but i would like the listeners reaction to this statement

  What is worse about ARR, Suresh Peters etc.. is they are Tamilians , speak Tamil well. But give them a mike, the accent shows up. They deliberately sing with an westernised accent.
  
  As I said before, SPB not being big in Hindi is their loss & not ours.

  Dont misunderstand me - my only point is that SPB does not sound native in Hindi. The above mentioned singers do. Thats why they are successful in Mumbai and SPB is not. I do not mean to say that SPB is not talented or anything like that.
  
  I also do not justify Sonu Nigam et al getting too many chances here if their Tamil is not good. I had made some tongue-in-cheek remarks about these on some other threads to show a fallacy in Naaz's reasoning.

  I agree with u about the fact SPB ‘s voice do not suit Hindi heroes, because Hindi heroes have feminine looks & feminine voices, with a few exceptions like Amitabh, Jackie, Mithun, Sanjay Dutt.etc. hence Hariharan, Udit, Kumar, Sonu’s voice suit them better as these singers have nasal /feminine voice, just like Unni Krishnan’s feminine voice in south. SPB’s depth in his voice is what makes him special from the rest of singers in IFM, Kishore also had good bass in his voice, I agree.
  
  Like Srini said “SPB not being big in Hindi is their loss & not ours.”, if he did mage it big in Hindi, then perhaps we would have missed out a lot on this genius.
  
  Coming 2 ARR business, many northies are unaware the nativity of ARR!
  
  Like arun said, there could be politics behind this, north has ignored many gems of south like SPB, KJY, MSV, IR, KVM, but 4 some reason south is worshiping northern imports of very untalented ordinary singers like Udit, Kumar, Sonu, Shadana…etc, I can add Hariharan, Shanker, Kavitha 2 the list of just ordinary singers from north, but I can not as they are originally from the south.

  Salman Khan's first film (megahit) was Maine Pyaar Kiya. All songs were by SPB. The songs were chartbusters. His next film Saajan - once again SPB. After that he did Hum Aapke Hain Kaun - once again SPB. The songs were all well-received and the film was a hit.
  KJY - Chotti Si Baat, Chitchor, Sawan Ko Aane Do, Dada, Trishul, Alaap, Sajan Bina Suhagan....and many more.
  Except for Trishul, all the other films had "speciality" (for lack of a better word) MDs -
  Salil Chaudhri, Ravidra Jain, Jaidev, Usha Khanna...And most of the songs by KJY in Hindi were critically/commercially popular.
  So it had nothing to do with their "accent" or their "tenor" (masculine/feminine) or their ability as "professionals."
  As Arun pointed out earlier - there are other factors. And their "ethnicity" might just be one of them.

  And we must also keep in mind - this is something the thread title does not address - that the CHOICE of NOT singing in Hindi might have been entirely that of the singers. They might have preferred to work with the MDs who appreciated their talent - and might have been content with that.

  another big joke is - u seem to have no problem with KJYs Hindi. so what if his songs were critically or commercially popular. So are Sadhanas,Latas and Ashas Tamil songs.   Since all those MDs gave SPB and KJY a chance then where the hell is the question that they were ignored. The MDs realised their accent problem and therefore have stopped using them.They themselves preferred other singers.
  
  If u feel that these two singers who massacred every Hindi word should have been elevated to the status of Mohammed Rafi and Talat Mehmood and Suresh Wadkar or Kishore Kumar/Bhupinder then sorry - u need to sound native in that language to achieve that status.
  
  U just need to listen to Bhupinder singing "Kahaan se aaye badra" by KJY to understand how much better he sings it than KJY!!
  
  These people (SPB+KJY) didnt sound native at all. Thats what I meant when I said "they shud have been ignored but werent"!!! Every word that they sing carries a South Indian accent and faulty pronounciation.
  
  I just couldnt stand the way KJY totally mangled the Alaap song "koi gaata mein so jaata". It was pathetic at best!! Good he is not troubling us by singing in Hindi anymore!! (he did release a crap pop alum recently though!!) Wish the alaap was given to Bhupinder or Jagjit Singh or else Talat Aziz.
  
  BTW Hariharan and Kavitha Krishnamurthy (both tamilians) are much better and have achieved a great deal of popularity. Even their Hindustani-based songs are much better. I just heard a wonderful album of CLASSICAL GHAZALS by KK and HH yesterday. It was gorgeous. Imagine SPB/KJY DOING THAT!! HUH - it wud be a travesty. If Northies have accepted KK and HH (who very often sing Carnatic based bhajans in their live concerts too BTW), then the question of "anti-south" BIAS is Naaz's own concoction (like her many other theories including those vilifying the image of certain popular northie artists). Those artists who managed to perfect their Hindi diction have always been accepted. BTW even Bhimsen Joshi, Mallikarjun Mansoor, Suman Kalyanpur are SOUTHIES - they are KANNADA SPEAKING. They did roaringly well in the North (esp. in Marathi films)as they managed to adopt a native accent.
  
  I'd rather quote Salil Chaudhary, Naushad, RD Burman, C Ramchandra and others who despite many successful forays into the South Indian film industry failed to make a permanent name for themselves here. Was politics a reason??? Think about it, I dont know.

  KJY's Tamil accent was not good, he even stopped singing 4 MSV, when once msv told KJY to pronounce the words correctly, did u know that?
  
  The only singer in TFM, with the perfect accent was TMS & Dr.S.Govinderajan, next is SPB, TMS told once after him SPB is the only one, who does not Kill Tamil.
  
  Oh BTW, did u know that when ever SPB sings any songs other than Telugu, he writes the songs in Telugu, then sings it?
