I read an article on Kandukonden Kandukonden`s audio cassette release function in todays online Hindu in "talk of the town" section.VM sems to be very much frustrated with ARR especially the way in which his lyrics are treated by ARR of late!. Is it his response to the comment about the so called `lyrics` in Alaipayudhe?. Infact VM seems to have quoted the songs of "kandukonden Kandukonden" as one those examples. Guys, any comments.

I second you - the loss is surely TFM's. I've been thinking about this - why must we always assume that VM is a spoiler? Having read through a link somewhere in the forum about how IR composes songs, it pretty much looks like the lyricist is at best an accessory in the scheme of things (i may be wrong too). For someone as proud (or egoistic) as VM, sustained periods of acting the side-kick might probably trigger a snap decision. I'm also assuming that under ARR he enjoyed much more freedom (than he did with IR), arguably too much of it at times. It baffles me as to why he couldn't suggest to ARR changes (in pronounciation, stress etc.) that he may have felt necessary to bring out the true meaning of his words. Surely, ARR doesn't look like being beyond reasoning. From VM's angle though, the slaughtering of any song as his 'yaaro yaarodi' (i've heard it n times, still can't figure out that *%#@ pandhadikaa@#$%..stuff), is sufficient reason for him to want to turn graphic designer.

Sorry for the digression.Mr Udhaya is 100% right.I have been a regular visitor to this site and have enjoyed browsing by and large. But it is irritating to see rowdies like Athi-this is how the world perceives you,Athi.Critisism shd be there but shd be healthy and respect shd be shown to M.D.'s and musicians.A few ill-mannered louts should not be allowed to degerate this site.Mr Athi and others,PLEASE I BESEECH YOU,dont think critising A.R.R. is the best way to show yr loyalty to I.R.-remember I.R. is not a politician. As amatter of fact you are denigrating the genius of I.R. And by showing no respect for A.R.R. YOU SHOW THAT YOU ARE NO TRUE MUSIC LOVER.The administrators of this site should seriously look into this kind of net vandalism and see that it becomes the most respected site for music.

Looks like everyone seems to take things more personally. Once everyone has made their point, it is time to bring in some fresh news. Positive criticism is always good. And also everyone must try to post in the correct threads. Sometimes it is not easy (lazy perhaps). IR and ARR are not enemies and so are we by posting contradictory points. In all these threads I see people trying to force their opinion on others. That is the reason for these postings, replies, re-replies etc.,

much as i agree with your concern for respect for MD's and musicians, i think that your choice of words - rowdies, louts, etc. - is in extremely poor taste and objectionable. i can't honestly see anything in Athi's posts (beyond his very obvious hatred for ARR who you seem to worship, IMO) that deserves such a violent reaction.. aren't you guilty as well, of 'net vandalism'?

Yeah Suresh one should not have used such language.I am sorry but this hatred for A.R.R is unwarranted unless he has personally harmed you or something. And Suresh I worship only Goddess Saraswathi and at the moment A.R.R. seems to have been blessed abundantly by her. When I see a good guy like Udhaya get slaughtered by these elements it irritates and angers.I dont know who this Udhaya is but he writes well and I enjoy his balanced views.C'mon Suresh let political leanings vanish.

Kavingar Vairamuthuvukku,
No matter whom you work with, your lyrics are equally competing with music. I wish to believe that you have been blessed by Goddess saraswathi but you wont like it.
Still we love your old songs. You yourself couldn’t forget muthal mariyathai, sindhu bhairavi etc. In those days when you had problems with raja, we used comment that you should take only pen not mike:). Now again you are in crisis! It’s inevitable.
We know how much you were upset, as you couldn’t speak to Kannadasan at his residence. He was the ruler then, whereas you were just another man in the crowd. Even then you believed that it was a great insult for your self respect (Ithu varai Naan).
You expressed your inability, sadness in Vikadan for not working with raja. In AIR thEnkinnam you broadcasted the song: “PorutharulvAy endRu vEndi ninRen- avan kumbitta kaikalai murithu vittAn”(aNNan kAttiya vazhiyammA) Later you wrote that you yourself had decided everything and departed from raja as you had ‘self respect’ problem. (Intha kulathil KaL erinthavrakaL).
After completing 7 years ‘vanavasm’ your combination (with arr) came up with some good songs. Chinna chinna Asai is an achievement. I remember what kumdam(Malan) mentioned about bombay (uyire) song: “.. kAtchikal ethvum Gnapakatil illai. Kavithaiyil sikki karainthu kondirunthathu manam”. I can add some more songs in this list. PORAle ponnu thaiyi, Enmel Vizhuntha mazhithuli, Markazhi poove, Pachai kilikal tholodu, En kAthale, Pachai nirame..
After your success you made strange allegation: “Thamizhai Oona paduthinar Ilayaraja” (Dimani Kathir). I wonder how do you work with Shankar and north indian singers. Instead of mixing words why don’t you write in english directly. What about “konjam nilavu”, Could you figure out in which language it was sung …more to know from you
The current situation is little bit different. No one bothers much about literature values. All they want is sound engineering. May be if that whiz kid gives pAva mannippu you can come for another round. If it doesn’t happen I’ll take it as you have saved your self respect. Or if it happens I ‘ll take it as you have saved us form Vaali :- )
Either way I’m happy my dear poet.

NaNbaN,
I don't think it is Smiyai as the cassette/CD covers seem to point out - I think it is "Smile" sung that way (like Smiyiyiyile). I saw the film KKKK yesterday and the song startes with Ajith saying "oru punnagai, oru smile"...
Jay :
Much as I appreciate your admiration for VM's talents as a lyricist (or poet), I think statements like "saving us from Vaali" are totally uncalled for, as MS has said. Enough has been said in this forum and also above in this thread that it is unwarranted to put down another artiste to glorify a favourite. Hope you observe it (atleast in this forum).
Suresh,
You have a point... maybe VM was'nt the spoiler in the absolute sense of it all. In fact, I too have wondered at times if it was due to IR's domination in a song that might have led to VM's outburst. But the fact that it affected IR's music (IMO) seemed to blur that line of reasoning in me !!

Oops, VM pesinal mattumillai VM patRi peisnalum pirachani than !! :-)
IN the whole posting, actually I have criticized his attitude(self respect concept) so the last two lines are 'vanja pukalZhici'. If it doesn't sound that way just go ahead and edit as you people like. Permission granted :-)
Mr.Manisekaran has already written about Vaali's classic work. We could collect some more from IR-vaali combination. However Vaali is not good choice now.

Suresh,
Thanks for what you wrote in response to
Mr.Genuine Musician. As I have been writing
again and again, this forum has become
the ground for launching personal attacks and
people use objectionable language and get away
with it.
If Mr.Genuine Musician had read everything
fully, it was Mr.Udhaya who derided me for
writing against ARR to the extent of asking
me whether Iam his non believer and I only
responded back to him and I was not rude in
my response. And Mr.Genuine Musician finds
such deplorable language to use when he
mentions about people who criticize ARR. There
are many threads where people praise ARR
in all possible ways. May be he should
browse them regularly instead of abusing
people in other threads.
Also when I criticize ARR, I never make
any comparisons and Iam amazed to see that
people find comparisons in what I write. I
only point out to the double standards when
it comes to dealing with ARR and IR in
this forum.
I wonder whether the administrators of this
forum feel good about the language used
by people like Mr.Genuine Musician.

Is ARR working on Bharathiar Album just becos
IR is working on the movie Bharathiar ?
The whiz kid wants to follow IR in all
possible ways. Since IR had symphony style
BGM for Hey Ram, ARR also decided to have
the same for Pukar eventhough he didn't know
how to use the music effectively !!!
Is this not a comparison ?
