Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  ARR to score music for Selvan who directed "Soori". Selvan was an assistant to Shankar before he became an independent director. ARR had a stiff competition to get this job from Deva. In this movie ARR is planning to try Carnatic composition since this movie is loosely based on the malayalam thriller 'His Highness Abdullah".

  Atlast I watched AE in a DVD screener I downloaded from tamiltorrents.com. I have to confess that I watched Thiruttu VCD print earlier where all the songs and some scenes left out. The movie sucked big time and it gave deja vu of many previous MR movies. I thought if I watch the full movie may be this movie would be a classic. So eagerly downloaded the screener and watched it. I still conclude that its terrible. The saving grace is pictursque photography from Ravi K Chandran. The female characters say the same dialogue that she is pregnant etc. from the very first MR movie. The male characters say i want a girl baby that too like you then we will go to pittsburg(thirupathi in old movies) to have our head tonsured etc. Ultimately who had their head tonsured poor distributors by our MR in chennai that too. The movie starts out with ARR BGM music ditto old spice advt. tune. Even HJ uses the same music I think these two individuals bought the rights of that tune subsequently a ARR fan is going to say its a loop commercially available. I don't how people watched this big crap in a movie theatre. No wonder it went to the oblivion as the previous MR movies. MR knows only one story, he mixes and matches eventually people would get fed up and stop watching his movie. Mani should change his curt dialogues which gets boring and use some one for BGM who has musical sense (Deva would be better). For songs he can still use Rahman.
  
  I am planning to drink some coffee. TGIF I have two days to recuperate and get back to work. If I have watched this movie in a theatre I would have sued MR for my headache. But since I watched in a thiruttu DVD I spare him.
