The beats for a Telugu song "Choodaraa" in the
film "SuperPoilce" is s direct lift from some
English song, I donot remember the name and the
beats for Telephone Manipol in Indian is also a
copy. The starting beat of "Anbae Anbae" in Kaadhal
Deasm is lifted from Dr.Alban. Chilakaa Raamachilakaa from
Mudhalvan sounds like an old Ir song, Chinna mani
kuyile...

Last night, I happened to see a scene from the movie "Bedazzled". In one of the scenes, where the guy falls down from the helicopter, the background music has the shouts that we hear in the Jumballakka song (ayyayi yoooo, something like that). Same kinda shouting. But Rahman, may not have copied that, as that song came out in the year 1999 or 1998 (I am not sure), and this movie came out in 2000. Also on that cassette, we have a credit saying that he used some spanish loops for the jumballakka song. So he might have used some commercially available loop there. Also, the cassete mentions that the spanish loops are used by Pravin Mani.

I heard the original of jaanaa suno. Pity that it has been copied note by note. In my opinion, Khamoshi was one of the wonderful music albums to have graced HFM in nineties, but given the fact that atleast one song is a complete copy, my opinion is shaken thoroughly. I wonder if "baahon ke darmiyaan" - a song I cherish also has a similar story. Already "mausam ke sargam ko sun kyaa gaa rahaa hai samaa" seems to be a number churned out from "gazab ka hai din dekho zara". hmm..at this rate, it seems worthless to lavish praises on these 'composers'.

Not in hindi..All songs now coming in tamil are heared before from some movies. They are just composing to hit the songs and to sell the cassettes.no songs in tmil are not coinside with situation.I think only Illyaraja is doing his best in music industry.

Need help with regard to these 2 songs!
Palingunaal oru maaligai
and
Love love ethanai azhagu.
I'm looking for the composer, movie and if possible a source where I can get a real audio version of these 2 songs.
I have the original source of both these songs and need to add them in my site. The first song is inspired by the oldie number 'Frenesi' while the secind is inspired by the Venturer's track called 'Pedal Pushers'.
Could anybody help?

My theory is ARR takes the rhythm or the arrangement from some other song and writes a melody for it. This is his basic style of composing. He either uses commercially available loops or gets inspired by the arrangments in other songs. (I am sure he also creates some new rhythm arrangments) If we dig deeper we will see more and more of his songs having the same rhythm arrangment as other songs. This is how he is able to imbue a 'novelty' in each and every album of his.
One eg. I can quote is a song from Khaled's Nssi Nssi. Rehman did not copy the beat or tune, but the arrangement is the same (thangath thAmari magalE).
I think this 'search' for the rhythm arrangement is what takes him more time. I think he can come up with tunes easily once he finalises on the rhythm (I think ARR himself has told this is how he goes about creating a song - rhythm first, tune later).

above theory is totally wrong! and absured.
underestimating/ill treating arr talents seems to a profession to many. :(-

I do not want to insist that I am really convinced about my own theory :). I would like somebody to contribute more on this theory and disprove it. I will be happy another talented dude speaking my own language has created such a stir nationally/internationally.
(For the record, I think very highly of ARR, I have listened to loops/samples. Even with using them it is a great task to create a song of the kind ARR puts out)

You do have a point there Kiru..here are other examples of ARR's rhythm inspirations :
1) Tada (Indian) - Love of the Common People (Paul Young)
2) Aiy yai yo (Rangeela) - Devil Woman (INXS)
3) Maa Tujhe Salaam (Vande Mataram) - If I could ever..(Sting)
4) Telephone Manipol (Indian) - All that She Wants (Ace of Base)
5) Ottagatha Katikko (Gentleman) - Digital Tribute to IR's trend-setting "Chinna Rasave.." rhythm
The above does not mean that ARR is not original..my arguement has always been that originality in today's world has a new meaning...there is no time for reinvention of the wheel...readymade objects are the order of the day...ARR is a new-generation composer..no point in comparing him with composers like IR who dabble in a different musical system...
