Thanks Jag...will check Master Venu out
Common Friend...yes I remember your posting...even I felt that it was a permutation/combination of a Rajasthani folk tune...
Good observations...Kiru and Bharath...
Trend...it is the beginning line itself...I think it based on a raga that represents the emotion of pleading and calling for attention...IR is a master in this...he knows how to adopt specific ragas for specific situations as he himself has explained in an interview....
ARR may have used the same technique...

Can someone please confirm this:
Tenali song" Duet : Alangati Mazhai i think is the name, the pallavi is clearly a straight copy of Villakku vecha nerathile maaman vandhaan. (mundanai mudichu by IR!) just
Then a song in Taj Mahal, the pallavi is also a complete copy of IR' some song in Telugu. If you will notice it is so IR, so very much! But, Taj Mahal some songs are exemplary tunes like Minsara Kanavu Broadway musicals. Anyway, please clarify

Fan,
"o mama mama(minnale) = columbus(jeans)
venmadhi ('""") = evano oruvan(alaipayuthey) "
can you explain this because I can't figure that out.Is it the charanam or the pallavi or the beats. Can you kindly point out the exact point where it looks similar.Sorry I don't have that much knowledge to sense it once I hear them.
Thanx.

Karisal Tharisal in Taj Mahal has the famous refrain of "I will be there'" a song popularised by Michael Bolton. But, Taj Mahal tunes are unbelievable! This guy does not believe in Indian idioms, instead has adopted western idioms and seems to be beating western composers at their own game. ARR could be a genius far different from the likes of any composer we have heard of.
But, Kuluruthu Kuluruth is a clear IR song that ARR has unabashedly copied just like the Thenali tune of IR.

Dude..
I think Venmathi = Desert Rose
Just play Desert Rose and hum Venmathi along with it...you will find the pitch adopted and certain parts of the melody are the same and both these songs have a Middle Eastern rhythm interludes.

"Yaaron Sun Lo Zara" sounds more like the song "yaaro pin paattu paada, ada thaalam naan paattil poda" by t.r.
beginning only!

Leo:
Intelligent you are...is n't it? The Kanna Moochci song is primarily based on naatta kurunji raagam. When, KKKK song was released this song was highly praised by many for the blend of this raaga and there was an article in some magazine about it. If you are talking about the raagam similarity then you have totally misfired it.
But http://www.geocities.com/athens/forum/8424/carnatic/ragask.html#kharaharapriyaa lists the song ariyaa paruvamadaa of missiyamma under the raaga Karaharapriya. So, CF, if at all there is any inspration (or) "polished" copy then it cannot be the raaga usage. It might be the intelligent factor like what is told for Maargazhi poovae of May maadham (or) an illusion by Leo :-)

Karthik, Great job. Unless you have a particular goal, i understand, it is impossible to get anything productive done out of any activity. Your focus, as you claim, will surely lead to a better understanding of the process of composing a song. You are a valuable contributor to this forum. Best regards.

Is it SJ or KA who exchanged the songs - Ore Kuzhappam

Guys ,
this is from another thread(ARR's experiments) ,
//
" Oh! bhavree " from daud sounded like "oh! saaathe re".
//
I thought this is something worth checking out. They do have similar tune patterns for sure.

These two songs sound similar to me. The Daud song seems to be a 'clubmix' (danceclub style) of the older melody. If only the percussion were a little higher, this would be more obvious. Ofcourse, ARR does it tastefully. The song is also a good example of how rhythms have changed over time.

Karthik, as far as Akele Hum Aakele tum is concerned I believe all songs are one form of copy or another..in the song "aisa zakhm diya hai" the prelude guitar has been lifted froma Deep Purple number..trying to remember what the song is..

Take a peek at my site now! Got about 170+ songs listed across hindi and tamil. All spruced up in terms of content! I understand that there's isnt sufficient proof to prove the instance of copying/ inspiration in a majority of songs in my site, but only if I make it public will I get more info on them. My search on internet has almost dried up and I'm tired! I need shared knowledge from others to go further! Thats one of the main reasons why I went online with my huge list!

you can refer to the copied list maintained here in newtfmpage to spot missed ones..

Some more (these are my personal observations, Iam pretty sure of them although you may choose to verify if you want):
Mere dil gaayegaa Zoobie Zoobie from "Dance Dance" lifted by Bappi Lahiri from "Brother Louis " by Modern Talking..
Prelude of "Tu mile Dil khile" from a song by Enigma (search GOOGLE to find the song name in TFM archives)
a song in Koyla (I think it is "Tanhai Tanhai") by Rajesh Roshan..interludes and chorus flicked from "Conquest of Paradise" by Vangelis..
"In the night no control" from Khiladiyon ke Khiladi flicked by Anu Malik from "Self Control" by Laura Branighan..this song pales in comparison to that peppy 80s number..
'Paal nilavu kaainthathen" sung by JC from "Yaaro azhaikiraargal" inspired heavily from "The Model" by Man machine..I think the MD was SG..

KS, I just saw your contributions to writeups in internet magazines, good work :-) you should try to send all these compiled flicked ones, especially tamil songs, to a tamil magazine, Anandha vikatan or something like that..Ii think they will definitely take a serious look at that..
