  I've heard some story that kamal said during a speech (i think it was one of the thenali functions where rajini was present) that he has always made sure that his movie releases never coincided with rajini's movie releases. so why is he going to release his movie on the same day as baba (according to vikatan)?

  That is a pretty remarkable way to dismiss the most popular actor in Tamil cinema, a spot most coveted and treasured, yet so unreachable for even the most talented of actors. Maybe some serious thinking is required on why he is afterall such a popular figure when there are far more talented, experienced and far better looking actors than him.

  That must be some article by some naive amatuer writer.
  There are just two great aspects in Rajini that are retaining him in that coveted spot. It is his charisma and humane nature, which I am sad to say that even Kamal doesnt possess. As you said Rajini is not as talented as some others, not as experienced as a few others and not as handsome as a lot others. But he is THE ONE. It is his charisma and public reach that is pretty much absent in everyone else. We can only compare these qualities of his, with probably MGR.

  I read in some articles that even Amitabh Bachchan has given more flop movies than Rajinikanth, even though Amitabh enjoyed a lot more national presence compared to Rajini.
  Rajini always promises a sure shot hit everytime. I think this was in one of the earlier liks posted by IK.

  Saw Company a few days back.
  Rajini in Devgan's role would have redefined a modern day gangsta. I mean the role had everything that Rajini is the best at. Sunglasses, Cigarette, and Smart one-liners with casual body language. I guess RGV dint want to risk a BigBudget movie with Rajini.
  if you can, watch Aankhen, Amitabh's latest movie.
  If any director wants lessons on how to kill a good movie after the climax then this is THE movie to watch.

  Sarthkumar's forthcoming film "Tenkasipattanam" is expected to be a winner at the Box Office. For, its Malaylam original with the same name was the biggest hit in the history of Malayalam films. Besides, It’s Telugu version "Hanuman Junction" was also a mega hit.
  
  Tenkasipattanam’s original and the Tamil version heroine Samyuktha Varma has become the talk of the town. The number one heroine in Malayalam is making her entry into Tamil with the film and people say that she is a natural and is going to go places. The actress was flooded with offers in Tamil including the one for "BaBa" the most talked-about film of Rajinikanth. But Samyukta had to decline all such offers because her parents want her to sign a few more films before she gets married. Samyuktha has been postponing her wedding with her long time lover and little known star in Malayalam, Biju Menon for the last few months as she is in great demand but Biju has been pestering her to finish her commitments and tie the knot.
