By the way I am being devils advocate here, I myself am a great fan of SP bala but i would like the listeners reaction to this statement

Ok, thanks for clarifying that, Raghuvaran. I'll stick to the topic, but I can't help sneaking in one more comment. Please don't call her 'amma'. It is an insult to all Ammas. She was not even a genuine amma in her own life, and even practically 'sacked' her adopted son.

.....Northie composers are more accent conscious than Southie composers, in the positive sense. They should be and let's hope that the likes of ARR and HJ take the cue from them.

accent could have been a problem for SPB, but accent should not be a problem when comes to singing, all you need is good voice, with style & way to epress emotion.

SPB's voice stiil is the best in IFM at 55, perhaps SPB is doing other things like, dubbing, film making, TV dramas, remember this guy is amazingly multitalented so that's why he may not have time for singing.

Big Deal if ARR is not using SPB, who is ARR, the lord?, well Nandha songs are way better than this PP crap, Mun paniya is superbly rendered by SPB, he is still the DON, have you guys noticed how he switches from low notes to high notes, it is simply amazing, there is no other singers in India 2day, who can rule over SPB in HIGH PITCHES.

listen to this legend's voice, at 55, he sounds like a 25 year old, KJY at 60 sounds like 60, Hariharan sounds too nasal, Unni Krishnan is too feminine, Kumar is the biggest nasal fool in the world, along with Udit Narayan,Shanker strain too much.

SPB is uncomparable.

KK u are so busy tryng to brand me a traitor or a person who is anti-soutn music, that u do not read my posts carefully. I have never said that SPB lost something because he has not sung much in Hindi. Indeed he hasnt, however - his Hindi accent is not good. Similarly Rafi did not sing well in Telugu, but he did not necessarily lose something for that.This does not make SPB or Rafi any less of a legend.

I was trying only to refute someone's claim that there was total lack of quality in the North. BTW - ray did make a few Hindi movies(eg-shatranj ke khiladi - fabulous movie!!) and even very good TV serials.

Also, please do not forget people like Shyam Benegal,V Shantaram,Bimal Roy,Kamal Amrohi,K Asif,Shashadhar Mukherjee,Kidar Sharma,Gulzar... who have produced/directed a plethora of high quality films.

If you guys are talking about Satyajit Ray, then I think he made one hindhi movie, which if I am right is "Shatranj ke Khilaadi". Sanjeev Kumar has acted in that movie and I have seen that movie long back. I did not have much of knowledge about Ray at that time.

i this is uday from mumbai, people in mumbai ie non south indians do like spb , but the music trend is changing and also his voice does not suit that of the regular hindi movie star, otherwise spb songs are hit and liked by most of them. i see soon he will return to hindi music i mean hindi musci director will certainly give him break. but even hindi the quantity of movies coming out has goon down, and there are only two to three main music directors, and already there is competition among the hindi singers itself, so spb is spb no comparison
