The 70s is a special period for me and holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately it is a period overlooked by many people and we hardly hear songs from this period nowadays.
Whenever, I have the time, I would like to share the lyrics of some of my favourites and have discussions of this period.

Who can forget that character? Sivaji brought life to the Superintendant of Police in the movie Thanga Pathakkam, with a wayward son, Srikanth and a pitiful daughter-in-law, Pramila.
Directed by P. Mathavan, this classic song had lyrics by Kannadasan and was sung by TMS.

That is a wonderful song Raj. One cannot forget actor Kamalahasan as an actor in that movie.

Nice topic, Gowri, that period (1970's) also had a huge impact on me, cos I was born in 1975,I really loved all the late sixties to early eighties songs.

Raghu, jus curious. I've heard u repeat u r a 25 year old many times (once u specifically told me this), both this year and last year. Now u r saying u were born in 1975. One question. How long have u been 25 for? and how many more years do u intend to remain 25?

I really don't want to dampen the spirits of the forumers who have engaged in prolific contribution of lyrics of TFM songs of the 70s. However, apart from listing the songs/lyrics what is the purpose of this thread?
Is it to establish the 70s as a "never before never after" glorious period for 70s lyrics?
Could we have a critique of these songs and how similar situations have been handled (with lyrics) in other time periods?
Could we establish some unique qualities about some of the songs, in terms of lyrics?
Just saying, "it was special for me" makes the discussion very subjective.

I wanted to mention this for sometime...in the song "Kanmaniye Kaadhal Enbadhu" one of the lines is
Paalum Kasandhadhu Panjanai Vandhadhu
It's funny to note this line being misinterpreted as either
Paal Sombu vandhadhu or Panjanai Nondhadhu - karmam:))
