SSS - I feel that this whole thing about TiS is going overboard - we don't get to hear any samples/ no news of its immediate release - then why all this hype
besides, while I can understand your enthusiasm, I also feel you are overdoing it - it may just backfire

IIR will be visiting USA enroute to Hungary for get-to-gethers in several cities.
He will be conducting the prelimineries in Hungary.

It has been said that music is a powerful tool in bringing together the people to usher in the much-needed PEACE. Man has invented the religion to co-exist in a given community but in the process, has drifted away from understanding the TRUTH in other religions and communities and has failed to at least make an attempt to know about these. In his race against time to see to his worldly needs and cope up with economic realities, he neither has any time nor the patience to look beyond his own narrow outlook to reach out for others. He is so absorbed with the demands of his own religion that any such attempt may even be viewed as a digression and in some cases as treachery!
Time and again, it has been proved that music can transcend these barriers and can touch people’s hearts without making him feel violated of his beliefs. A well-rendered musical score can touch one’s soul and make him feel one with the divine. We have enough proofs in Beethoven, Bach, Sufi songs and the Gospel music, that people of any belief can feel the oneness of this great truth.
It is with this belief that a great Maestro of our times has come out with a noble thought to take the essence of an ancient Truth, rendered in the Tamil scriptures, one of the oldest doctrines to exist, and to present this in a symphonic format, so as to reach out to touch people’s hearts and make them realize that all doctrines ultimately aim only in promoting global harmony among people of various religions and communities. Such a symphony would also enable Indian Classical Music to be played by Western Classical Maestros on the world stages thereby promoting the theme.
Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, a noted music composer, lyricist and singer from Tamilnadu, India, is embarking in bringing out a CD called THIRUVASAKAM IN SYMPHONY. He has set the music for over 820 motion pictures and has many musical scores to his credit.
It has been said that if you are not touched by the verses of Thiruvasakam, then you can never be moved by any other words. Thiruvasakam is a compilation of several hundred verses, written in Tamil, the oldest complete language of our times, by Saint MAnickavAsakar. He was an enlightened soul, who got his realization from Lord CivA, the prime God of Hindu religion. The first and foremost of this Thiruvasakam is called “civapurANam”, meaning the praise of Lord Civa. Here, in 95 verses, he extols the greatness of Lord Civa, in the process of which he speaks of the inner meaning of our existence, the need for everyone to see the unity among all of us and the urgency of practicing this great truth to bring world peace.
Selected verses from the ‘civapurANam’ are being set to a symphonic score and such a symphony music is going to be composed by Isaignaani [musical genius]Ilaiyaraaja with an ensemble of over 200 musicians from various parts of the world, in Hungary, in March, 2004. This will have the renderings in Tamil and English simultaneously. Various world leaders including the Pope have already blessed this project.
The total cost for this great project is estimated at $1,000,000[one million dollars] and to create the awareness, Mr. Ilaiyaraaja has wished to seek out public donations to make this happen. It is with this intent, that we are appealing to you to render your support with your valuable contributions and grants. The impact this project will create to promote WORLD HARMONY is tremendous and we are confident that you will feel the genuineness of this venture and will come out in a big way to support this.
Contributions in USA and India are tax-deductible, as two non-profit organizations, The Tamilnadu Foundation in USA and Tamil Maiyam in India, have embraced this venture as their pet project.
