TFM has seen many artists in singing, composing , playing instrument(s), conducting etc. When we look at their overall contributions and achievements in TFM , i would like you to list and rank the top five (only 5) artists whom you think were the best between the years 1900 - 1999.
Here is a list the top 5 TFM artists , IMO .
1. S P Balasubramanium
This highly prolific singer has exceeded all the expectations and continues to hold strong in TFM .
2. Ilaya Raja
He is the only complete musician TFM has seen who could bring about a seamless coalescence of western and indian.
3. M S Viswanathan
His melodies are so valuble to be preserved for future civilisation as they could symbolize our quality of life in future.
4. P Susheela
This melody queen who has won millions of hearts is an institution in TFM having contributed many chapters.
5. A R Rahman
He has set the stage for the next millenium and is certain to lead his counterparts in the years to come.

In fact before I came to this final choice, 6 was 3, 5 was 4 and 3 was 5. But looking at their contribution at large, I feel the ladies finally won my heart and Spb lost by a few nano(!) points. I feel 3,5 and 6 are so close, it is purely personal taste.(Surely not objective!!)

IMO, ARR has a long way to go. SPB comes very close to making it and can be treated as substitute just in case any one of the above dont make it, mostly KVM. (NOM, jest for fun)..:-)

SPB, SJ, PS has been around in TFM for about 3 to 4 decades, don't u think they have contributed more in TFM than IR?

spb(sngs for all kinda of indian films be it hindi ,tamil ,,etc...)
IR (composed mainly for tamail & then hindi)
vm(has written lyrics for lot of tamil films)
msv(influence & inspiration of GUD tamil or for that case general music.but hasent made it known for his neighbiurs like hindi ppl etc).....
