  10 days after its release Baba, hype and hoopla is history. At the box-office the film has sunk without a trace, and its hero Rajnikanth is away in US in bereavement after the death of his spiritual guru. The 170 odd theatres screening Baba in Tamilnadu want to be compensated for their huge losses.
  
  Legally Rajnikanth is on safe grounds as he sold the film to the threatres on Mimnimum Guarantee(MG). He doesn't need to return even a single paisa, but in humanitarian grounds Rajni is likely to return a percentage of what they paid. Now 50 percent of what they paid has to be returned. Rajni the smart guy he is, knows that if he pays compensation they would immediately yank Baba off the theatres.
  
  As a part of his strategy to make the film run for atleast 50 days, in main stations he would delay the compensation package. Till then the theatres would be forced to screen the film!
  
  
  Rajini is a great business man. I'm amazed at his stragegy.

  hey hey.....BABA wasnt made to run! .... do u know that Arunachalam ran for 200 days in some theatres??? ..... considering that BABA touching 50 is JUST NOTHING........as i had told earlier last sat show at Subham (sathyam) was housefull.....RK padam-na ungalukku avalo saatharnamaa poachaa?? :D ..... jus kiddin (wudnt u know im not ;) )
  
  if u know the theatre owners are under no compulsion to screen BABA.....RK has compensated their losses
  
  yet again......RK HAS ALREADY COMPENSATED THE LOSSES .... ok-va?

  and....BABA Cds are still the best sellers (Tamil) at landmark......check out "the hindu -downtown" if u need any clarification......
  
  its was in 4th place.....only to be preceeded by three hindi albums.....in 5th place is 5*

  Atlast i have seen this baba DVD.. What can i say possibly worst movie and music i have seen and heard in recent times.
  
  Most Annoying Factors About Baba
  
  1) Graphics takes the crown. Even Jagan Mohini had better graphics. Sampoorna Ramayana had better graphics. 1933 movie kingkong had better graphics.
  
  2) ARR Background score. The pop beats for Rajini's confrontations with villain and host of other mediocre background scores are irritating.
  He could have rather done away with BGM.
  
  3) ARR songs and dance. It is beyond my comprehension how Rajini even accepted to lipsync for these songs and dance for these songs. Very Very irritating while watching it.
  
  4) Rajini doesn't look like Rajini. He talks like he is suffering from cold. His face looks very old. Koundamani looks younger.
  
  5) Over adulation of Rajini. It is another annoying factor. These larger than life characters make one sick.
  
  6) Stupid story
  
  7) Too many stupid scenes are insulting our intelligence
  
  8) Heroines are utter waste.
  
  This is the fairest review i can write. I won't even call this as a criticism. It is a mild review. If you want critical review i am ready to write.

  Why are you guys talking about how many days it runs. The quality of the movie is bad. Do any of you guys have points to defend that? If not just shut up men.. don't talk about how many days it runs.. Sadma remake of Moonram Pirai ran just for 3 days in North India. Is it a bad movie? Rajini fans are immatured.

  u think uve made a pt? ... well .... no u havent ..... the success of movie is PURELY based on its collection and the number of days it has run .... so Sadma according to northies is a bad movie .... wat is accepted here neednt be accepted all over the world
  
  if wat u say were to be true.......a vetri vizha wudnt be celebrated after 100days or watv.....instead they wud be celebrating it if the crew feels the film is good.....then obv evry film wud have its vetri vizha!

  however.....a good film neednt necessarily do well in the box office.....while a bad film may do well in the box office (only bad MGR and RK films will come under this!).......when u come to measuring the success of a film EVRY SINGLE PERSON invarably sees the number of days....and that is a fact

  C~P i don't agree with you on that. Quality of movies are not judged on number of days run. Especially in India. Run of the mill stories like Dilwale Dulhaniya.. ran for so many days. That won't make it a good movie. For example "Shawsank redemption" considered to be second best movie of all time in IMDB.COM made only 28 million dollars.
  Same year "The Mask" made 120 million dollars
  See the difference in ratings. In Imdb anything about 7.8 are considered to be very good. That too if the number of votes is more than 50000 it means the movie is extraordinary. See the ratings and also box office. It is quite ironical good movies like Godfather, Shawsank redemption didn't make enough money.

  Just read the user comments at the top for THE MASK .. yea it would be "stupid and ridiculous".
  MohaMul didn't run that many days. I bet anyday it is a great movie.
