Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

Sarat,
"if they can watch couples gyrating and simulating sexual acts with their clothes on sitting with your parents, they should definitely be able to watch Boys."
No, I can't watch that too! :-)
"If a person does not relate to a movie, why does have to trash the movie as vulgar and an unfair generalization."
This is when somebody thrashes it as unfair generalization! :-)
Piratheepan,
At this age, I have all the feeling which you mention. But, I never have thought of calling a girl home! That was just too much! I don't know what the others felt. It would have been OK if he had stopped it there rather than picturising the experiences of each and every guy!! I haven't seen the censored version though.
"wat i find funny is how dumb the avg cinema goer is in India. becuz the trailors clearly showed you wat kinda movie it was going to be and then they all complained abt the movie."
Not everybody watched/watches the trailers. There are people, I am sure, who just expected it to be a normal "Shankar movie" and went to the theatres with their family. A film, NOT rated A that too. And this is not acceptabel definitely.

C~P, that scene was for laughs.was also there to have the rest of the scenes at the end u kno?the censored version doesnt have the moans and groans that munna and the hooker make and it does have bob galy shaking the bed. The cut version is alot more restrictive and you can watch it with ur family.
well its still their own fault for assuming sumthin. The biggest mistake anyone can make is assume anything.if you wanna point fingers u can point them at the mirror people always wanna find sumone else to blame and THAT is not acceptable.

Ah, yes, the violence in Indian, Gentleman, and Mudhalvan is perfect family viewing, but not some sexual stuff in Boys...

Maybe Ravi, you were born and brought up outside of India, but since I was born there, I realize that generally violence to the extent shown in Indian, Gentleman and Mudhalvan is tolerable while viewing with family(here again I mean parents too), whereas sex isnt. In my opinion that was one of the crucial factors defining the box office performance of Boys. Kamal has been hugging, kissing and indicating varied forms of sex in most of his recent movies, but they have been accepted for the subtle manner and presentation that blended with the story.
Besides, I do not think that the film accurately described the current student life. The boy running naked scene were grossly exaggerated and foolishly depicted. Burning or cutting a finger would have been rather more appropriate. Even if I discount that as a movie stunt, there are the prostitute scenes. Now no sensible movie maker even if true (which I think is not), should try to tell parents their children call home prostitutes. Sorry Shankar, we will not entertain your youth time fantasies. Somebody pointed out being attracted to the opposite sex is only natural. Yes it is, but being attracted to prostitutes and enforcing those ideas into actions isnt.
Boys might have been an excellent hit as a mens hostel day drama, not otherwise.
And Ravi, had Indian and other movies had violent scenes such as in "Silence of the Lambs" I might have seconded your thought.

"This is when somebody thrashes it as unfair generalization! :-)"
Thats precisely the point i was making. Why pick only on Boys?
How many muslims, brahmins, women, blacks etc. do you think relate to their depiction on screen?
why the double standards?

hmmmm....so u expected the movie to be all true and not extreme?wat kinda BS is this guys?oh so u guys stop in the middle of class and start dancing and singing in the middle of the streets right?and dont study.when people get in fights in india one guy takes on 10 etc etc etc etc right?just face it u all gave double standards to the movie.
all of u guys blame shankar for the rating u guys forget the censor boards do that.now u guys will say he took it sumwhere else. so then the place he took it has mature people i guess and tamil nadu is just filled with childish people then?

piratheepan,
are you having some personal vendetta against tamilians and people in tamilnadu. Your message seems so. Be clear in what you are tryin to say with shankar and his movies. It is peoples choice whether to make a movie hit or flop. You cant term people as hypocrites just because a sex movie director was afraid to goto the censor board over here.
People here enjoy maniratnam movies like roja mumbai alaipayuthe etc. Alaipayuhte was a movie based on newly married couple. But how many sex scenes or anything vulgar was there in the movie?
Everyone knows that newly marriedd people have sex. So maniratnam did not show the sex scenes and kept screaming "i am showing what is happening only". That is the differencee between great directors and road siders like shankar.
even if you remember movies like roja or mumbai they will just show husband and wife hugging each other and at the most kissing. that is it. manirtanam wont be asking his heroine to wear a low neck dress and bend so that the whole world can see what is inside....
so based in your argument maniratnam is also an hypocrite?? because he is not showing sex scenes in his movie?????

based on ur argument u realli messed up cuz obviously u dont kno what hypocrite means or whom im callin a hypocrite.
shankar is a commercial director while mani ratnam is artistic these are too very different types of cinema
if u wanna argue with me plz think ur thoughts out a lot more then type

What I expect from Shankar is logic. So far he has not diverged from logic to this extent.
Dont you think the boy running naked for a girl is illogical? Sorry Piratheepan, had he committed suicide it would more logical than now. I am yet to see a college student run naked in Mount Road for such a silly thing. It takes more courage than suicide as I pointed earlier.
Yes, I have seen students start dancing in class. People singing in streets? - You are now treading dangerous grounds. Since ever, Indian cinema has been relied on music, dance and songs to keep the audience captivated. The people will not accept a songless movie.
Call it double standards (which I dont agree), so be it. But the box office numbers seem to accurately potray my thoughts. Whatsoever collections were there, was thanks to the music.
If maturity is accepting and watching explicit sexual contents in basic entertainment movies along with family, we rather remain immature.

hehe i never look for ogic in an indian movie cuz it wouldnt be an indian movie if it was logical.
maturity is being able to handle the subject without going ard whining abt it later.

when has the indian box office reflected good movies?gemini becomes a gr8 hit yet films like nala dhamyanthi and anbe sivam flop....hmmmm aite yes ur box office stats dont impress me

If you dont look for logic, it is your preference. Somehow I see that majority of the population think otherwise.
You are talking without data. I did not ask for a definition of maturity.
You can whine about a movie only if you have seen it. If not I see no use of this forum, where people discuss movies they havent watched or music they havent heard. Get real and principal your arguments!

Box office statistics are not to impress you. Movie makers want people to throng theaters and watch the movie. Not some piratheepan to state they were correct in the first place and to continue making such movies even if they have to go bankrupt

u think the majority of the indian cinema goers looks for logic....lol aite.and once again u took my saying of box office statistics out of context.ive seen the movie i had the movie u fool.so wat if u didnt ask for the definiton u gave a definiton, i gave mine. did i ask for ur opinion? (this is an example of wat ur reply to my def sounds like)
and u changed ur usage of bringin box office stats in ur reply.wateva ur gonna say stay consistent otherwise dont argue.
