  BTB, have you heard of this song, "enna paarvai undhan paarvai... idai melindhaal indha paavai...". Can you tell me the name of the film and the hero/heroine of the same?
  
  Have you heard this song from the film "Velli Vizha"?

  It was sung by both PS and LRE. While I liked PS' voice so much in the song, I, however, didn't like LRE's voice in this song. It was a bit irritating.

  A real PS stunner is "Oru NaaL iravu" from "Kaviyathalaivi". The song has a tremendous impact. This is one of my personal favourites but I dare not record it because it gets me all choked up....no exaggeration.
  
  For Raaga enthusiasts, this song is set to "Rasikapriya" the 72nd Melakartha. Well Done MSV and PS!

  I like all those songs you've mentioned. I love the song 'kattodu kuzhalaada aada'.
  
  Sriram, I have not heard the song 'Thithikkum Paaleduthu'. I know another song from the same film: 'Aalayam Enbadhu Veedaagum'.
  
  Hey Sriram, 'Oru Naal Iravu' is a classic. PS has exhibited her bhaavam in a very controlled manner which is possible only by her. I am moved to tears whenever I hear the lines:

  In the week end I heard the following songs...

  after a long long time and found LR Eswari's
  humming in them to be awesome! Whatever anyone
  may say about LRE's voice, I feel the humming
  that she has given in these songs are of an
  uncomparable quality! What do you guys think?
  Are there other songs in which she has given
  humming of a similar quality?

  2. 'Vanna Thamizh Penn Oruthi (Paavai Vilakku)
  3. 'Maanikkath Thottil Ingirukka' (Panam Padaithavan)
  4. 'Nenjathai Alli Konjam Tha Tha Tha' (Kadhalikka
  Neramillai)
  
  I don't know much about ragas. But I can sing any song after hearing it just for a few times. Just looking forward to an opportunity like a get-together here in the US where I could try my performance out.

LRE almost kadaisiyaa paadi hit panna 'Ninaithaale Inikkum' songs-a eduthukkonga, 'Ananda Thaandavamo' and 'Inimai Niraindha Ulagamirukku'! Isn't her voice buoyant in both these songs? There are so many and many songs by LRE which are incomparable just for her voice. I am listing a few of them which you may not have heard that frequently but you have to listen:
  
  1. Adhisaya Ulagam Ragasiya Idhayam (Gowravam)
  2. Mellap Pesungal (Kasedhan Kadavulada)
  3. Vennila Mugam Kungumam Perum (Selva Magal - Jai Shankar, Rajyasree)

  9. Ammamma Kannathil Kannam Vaithu (Vallavan Oruvan - the same movie of 'Palingunaal Oru')

  This morning I was just thinking of
  
  'Kallellaam Manikka Kal Aaguma' and
  'Yar Andha Nilavu'
  
  - While the former brings tears to your eyes, TMS voice has the kind of 'kaniya vaikkum quality' in that song, the latter is such a soother to your mind! Great works by Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy, Kannadhaasan, TMS, Sivaji combo!

  LRE songs that you mentioned. You forgot to add
  pattaththu raaNi song from Sivandha Mann.
  But still, there are many many who dislike her

  I was actually hurt when I came to know through you that there are many who dislike LRE. Isn't it crazy to start a thread and show dislike for an artist who was quite established and could sell those days! I am yet to see that thread. will do sometime. There are songs which you can never imagine to hear in any other voice than LRE. It's tough to find a versatile singer like her. The specialty of her was that she had a very peculiar voice. More suited to western style rock 'N' roll and so youthful and sexy. I bet no one could have sung "Kadhodudhan Naan Paduven" especially the 1st 4 lines are a killer!

  Karthi and Ragapriyan,
  I liked LRE's humming in "Kutramalayile", the main singing done by Seerkazhi. Good examples Karthi. Additionally , there are some songs where she overshadows even the great TMS like in "Naam oruvarai oruvar" from "Kumari Kottam".
  Ragapriyan, this song is based on "Vahula Bharanam" but there are some foreign notes.
  "Pattathu Raani" can be sung only by LRE. Another great song "Ammamma Keladi thozhi" from "Karuppu panam".
  
  My knowledge about Raagas is purely based on "Kelvi Gyanam" or courtesy my keyboard. "Mannikkavum" in case there are mistakes.
