I have few movies mentioned in other threads on YSR but where are the audio's? Have they been released? Such as for Nandha or manathai thirudivitay or Telugu movie? It has been a while since I heard YSR songs

It is amusing to see that JS has been rated as a thumbs down by AV, as JS has taken the number 1 slot in the TFM charts and also since I heard the songs and found the to be very impressive.
AV seem to have bad taste in music as they also have given ARR movies bad revies in the past.

AV has actually given 30/100. Also, has critisized the music.
Personally, no song from that film was impressive to me. Probably a mishit by YSR.

If it was Juior Senior, I must say damn. :)

Hey I was saying about JS.
My friends have seen TI. They say it ia a hot hot movie. But a good movie...atleast..I would like to say that till I see it...then how can I justify going to that movie.
TI music is probably the best music by YSR composed till date. But, it has gone into a movie having a strong sex tag.

Temptations, temptations. :)
Poovukkellaam Kettuppaar also had very good songs.

>>>Poovukkellaam Kettuppaar also had very good songs.
I know. But, I found too much of ARR or ARR kinda in that.
But, TI was a revelation. It just caught me by surprise. It too had ARR like stuff in one or too, but, the music was just mind bogling.
I think many time you fall in love with some songs if you listen to it with out expecting any thing from it. TI gave me such an impact.
When a thread for TI was started and people wrote in that I thought that these were simply some customary postings but, on that day when I listened ti TI, I was completely bowled over.

It is a shame that YSR's song have not yet been in a movie that is equally good. All his best tracks seem to be downplayed due to poor films.
Maybe in future YSR's songs will be given good picturisation so that people are given opportunity to appreciate them

YSR is the MD that is in demand now. Like YSR said in his Kumudam Indterview, life is like a horserace, it is just that his horse is running best currently so people are wiling to place bets on the winning horse!

Prakash,
I agree with you ... at the same time, another factor also helps YSR - he is not expensive, and gives good quality music !
He hasn't produced any 'smash' hits like 'Minnalaey', Dheena and Poovellaam kaettuppaar were his biggest hits (in terms of popularity) which are not even close to the success Harris Jayaraj made in his very first movie, But the fact remains that HJ has less movies than YSR .... reasons could be 1. YSR is more original than HJ 2. He is cheap and yet so good when compared to any other MD in his level. (Among MDs with < 50 movies, I treat only Bharadwaj and Vidyasagar at par with Yuvan)

NagaS I would classify Dheena as being a smash hit.As also I would rate Thu;l;uvatho Ilami as a smash hit. Maybe the movie isnt very successful, but the songs are very popular throughout the world.

Prakash,
I agree .. but somehow I feel the impact 'minnalaey' songs made was missing in both of them ... None of my room mates (all in my age group) know about ThuLLuvatho iLamai album till the movie was released and they heard the songs in TV, On the other hand, movies like Minnalaey, Shanjahan etc., were popular well before TV shows started playing them visually ! Isn't it ?

Nagas,
I agree about minnale but shahjahan has a different parameter...Since it's a vijay movie ppl buy the cassettes....One of the waiters in the brindavan hotel (b'lore) is a bigtime fan of vijay...that guy said he bought the cassette the very first day....It's like ppl buying a rajnikant cassette caring the least about the quality.
Dheena too wud've started off that way..but then the consistent sales even after the initial burst was due to the quality of the songs..

NagaS When talking about quality of music, Dheena ranks with Minnale. It was always next to Minnale in the charts. Maybe the movie was not as great, but the songs were better in my opinion, purely for the fact that they were original, unlike Minnale which was a rendition of ARR songs.
If YSR gets good movies, i'm sure his songs will be even bigger than what Minnale was. Minnale was a big hit due to the picturisation of the songs as well. When you hear Vaseegara, it isn't that impressive, but when you watch it in the film, it is shown in a whole new light.
Whereas Sollamal Thottu Chellum is an amazing song, but when you see it with the movie, it loses its speciality.

on: Tue May 21 02:18:33 EDT 2002
well...i respect Prakash's opinion and i wd like to state that i hv a different opinion... Vaseegara sounds damn romantic with wonderful lyrics whereas the picturisation was mainly physical which cd hv been avoided... Sollaamal thottu sounds damn good... what a high pitch Hariharan weaves... but seems that the song was very low-budget with both the hero and heroine wandering only with a couple of dress changes with no 'white-dress-devadhai-gumbal' around...!!!
this is a general problem with melody songs... 75% of the melody songs suck in picturisation.. maybe if we go back to period in which the songs are released after the movie, we couldnt complain.

You must be kidding. Vaseegara song was mesmerizing and oli96.8 was boradcasting that song atleast 5 times a day even b4 the movie release due to popular demand. When the movie was released many criticized the bad picturization!
[vaseegara was unionimously the best song of the year with out even mentioning abt the picturization! Ref: subbudu@kumdam & writter sujatha@ambalam.com]
Where as, sollaamal thottu chellum was a very good melodius # [HH sang with emotion/feeling/bhaavam surprisingly!] and was picturized very well too to make it even better. [kaadhal website ondru in dheena was the best picturization in tht movie..]

PS, in my opinion, VAseegara wan't that impressive until I saw it with the movie.People may have criticised the picturisation, but I believe that it was this that made the song as big a hit as it was. Sollamal Thottu was picturised horrendously despite being a much more impressive song. Personally I really loved Dheena music compared to Minnale, due to the originality in it.
YSR has soem good stuff coming out. I feel that Popcarn, Kadhal Samrajyam, Winner and Lovers will be something to look forward to!
