  Kalai: Is it not 'unga'kovil :-)) I mean "Kalaikovil". Muthuraman and Chandrakantha acted together as Jodi in only one film, if am correct.
  
  Directed by Sridhar and Music by MSV has got top class songs "Deviyar iruvar muruganukku" by PS, "Thanga radham vandhadhu" by Dr.BMK and PS [padu sexy-aaga CK was shown in the song with lots of side-poses :-))]

  Last week it was in vijay-tv and I missed the title. The movie was really boring. I have noticed one more song "kannil varum vennila" a PS solo for rajasree, a club dance song.

  As my sister Sathya pointed out, ammA engE has very good songs. 'nAn vaNangum dheivamE kaNNAna kaNNA' is an excellent melody sung by PBS-PS. 'nenjukku theriyum' PBS-PS is a slow pathos version.

  Hi Friends,
  
  I got a cassette titled 'Thirumal ThiruthalangaL", with 10 songs in praise of Lord Vishnu. Each song is on a particular place/city/town where exists a famous temple for Lord Vishnu. The songs were penned by Ulundoor pettai shanmugam. The MD was one of the yester year greats R. Ramanujam (Sudarsanam's brother?).
  
  Though this is a private album (not from Tamil films), am very eager to share the details. Hope you guys would not mind.
  
  All the songs starts with a preface (thogayara kind of) from Periya thiru mozhi OR Naalaayira divya prabhandham OR a famous sloka. You know, the Tamizh from such composition were done so long back and it is very difficult to understand and pronounce correctly by even Tamizh natives. But I wonder how this giant from Vijayanagaram has managed and excelled in rendering the songs without any mistakes.
  
  Music was superb and few songs were with Nadaswarams and Violin as the main accompaniment.
  
  Shall post the songs information in my next post.

  Note : Recently one magazene written an article
  about rain song. Many songs including “oho megahm
  vandhadho, china china malai thuligal” were analysed.
  They have given a special mention about “kAna inbam
  kanindhadheno”, saying “ Susheela’vum , modiyum
  mazhayil naninthu konde paadinaargalo” (does they were
  drenching in rain while singing!!!). In the second
  stanza a beautiful humming by Ps ata single stretch.

  Oh, wow - PS's voice in the above song is just unbelievably good for her age. Are you sure this song was recorded in 2002 and not sometime earlier. She sounds so good! Also, the song doesn't sound (technologically) like a product of 2002 music industry. Anyway, thanks for pointing out this nice song.

  PS announced her retirement in 2001 itself, if am correct. My guess is that recording could have been in early 2001 or before, though the release of film was in 2002. Its all my guess only.
  
  Any kerala native friend, can check on this please..!
  
  But as you and Kaumudi said it was great listening to PS voive which is still good (she is 68 I think!!), that too a song which we never listened to earlier. Thanks Kalai.

  Nonononononono not like that... She maintained the same but said if anyone prefers or requests that she only should sing that song, then she would contemplate. That was her stand otherwise it will be injustice to her own words, I believe.

  In addition, it my personal view that PS should be a mentor for many more young talents instead of getting into the world of sound (not music these days). Just a comment.. yesterday, I watched ARR's program in Vijay TV. It was pathetic to see some senior singers waiting for oen or two songs to sing and thanking him as if he had given live to their career !!! Adding more oil to the fire, the songs sung by such seniors were terrible and not able to digest why they still want theor feet on this dust! My god!!
  
  Again I reiterate, PS should be PS who should be looked up as a "guide/mentor" by the budding artists.

  1. "Madhana Maligaiyil, Mandhira Malaigalam.." is from "Rajapart Rangadurai" (1973) starred by Sivaji and Usha nandini.
  
  Apart from Padmini, Nadigar thilakam showed interest in pairing with few more heroines incl VaNishree, Usha Nandini etc. UN looked damn glamorous even though she appeared more in saari costumes but could stay in the field for only few years (early 70's). Sivaji+UN paired in Pon Oojnjal, Gowravam, Manidhanum Deivamaagalaam besides RPRD and unreleased Jaavar seetharaman's "Udal Porul Aanandhi". UN was playing the Aanandhi role whereas JJ was another heroine :-)
