6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

Right u r Ferrari..
But I cant understand the fuss created by this line..
"Normally a hit Tamil audio sale is around 40,000 to 50,000 units sold over a period of three months. "
What he means is, an album is considered a hit if it sells 40-50K units over a period of 3 months.. But AE jus went on full throttle and touched the 100K mark in just 3 days. He also mentions that the way it is going.. it may end up touching the 3 lakh mark b4 the Movie actually releases.
a mark of a Superhit. :)

MR..
The situation demanded it.. dont u think??
In TT, the guys had just got hold of a container full of cash. And they were feeling good.. Putham Pudhu Bhoomi was just that. A feel good song.
In Boys too, The rest of the songs were picturised on the Boys... That's where the fast paced songs came in.. In "Ale Ale", Harini had jus accepted Sidd's love.. U cant have a wannabe poet expressing his love for her in a Hard Rock song doing break dance.. can ya? :)
Unless, of course, the hero is Govinda!

Yeah what magix says is right. Might be this movie didnt need a melodious song.
We will know once the movie gets released.

My picks are Faanaa, Nenjam ellam (sung by Adnan sami), and the one sung by ARR and Madhushree. AE songs are decent and nowhere near horrible as some describe here. Nenjam ellam especially sounds melodious to me. AE probably wouldn't achieve the heights of AP, but I guess ARR was in a hurry and did his best. Given more time he would have done even better, but I am quite happy with what we have.

Mani-ARR -Variamuthu Combination brings good album (with good lyrics). But this album lacks that...
It doesn't sound new ...
Humming,, same word, music everything occupies rather than lyrics like earlier Mani movies.
If you listen all the songs continuously and at the end of all, you feel absolute silence in the room...
So noise...
But of couse some changes ARR wants to bring in the music since HJ kind of composer are started like ARR,,, sohe needs to prove his difference and market...

for those worried abt the lyrics is it you can't hear them or you dont like them?
maybe its wat kinda device ur listening to cuz i can hear the lyrics perfectly fine and am enjoying them too. The music doesnt get in the way. Well maybe its becuase im use to this type of music so its easy for me to hear the two.

oh as for the title it has to do with ahennam,
it represents the characters in the movie. The letter is independent (3 dots) but at the same time dependent. Its going to probably be a story of the 3 characters living their lives and how it ends up gettin intertwinde with each others.

For a movie that was not supposed to have ANY songs, there are as many as 6! Before I listened to the album, I thought I was going in for some good treat, considering the Mani-ARR combo has almost consistently given good music...
I heard the song "Dol Dolna Babe .... xxxx.... sada namaste!" and was wondering whether it was actually ARR? Extremely cacaphonous! Some DJs probably could have put this together. The male singer sounded like that creepy Apache Indian (remember ARR's earlier venture, "Kama Kama Kaamachi" with him in the Prabhudeva film?) However the credit gave a female name, Shaheen!!
The 2nd song, "Nee Yaaro Naan Yaro" was another disappointment. Sounded like the Bappi Lahiri songs for Mithun's disco films of the 80's. Do you really need Shankar Mahadevan for this one? Sunitha tries to very sexy and succeeds to some extent though (debut song?) What exactly is Lucky Ali doing in this one?
Now, I am hoping the next song would compensate for the previous two "sorry" numbers. I am hoping something in the lines of the melodious "jil jil ... Kannathil muthamittal". Considering it's a Mani Ratnam film, there would be at least one class number in the album.. and then starts the Jana Gana Mana song! Boy(s)! Am I disappointed yet again?
Looking at the credits for the next song (Adnan Sami and Sujatha) I am wondering, "well, may be this one would be good" (however I dread Adnan Sami's forced yodeling kind of voice and his punctured pronunciation)... The song disappoints... yet again. WIth its tune and the rhythm the song sounds like a faster version of "Venmathi Venmathi nillu"
At this point I am very sceptical about venturing into the next song... my hand skips the FF button and it lands me in the "Yakkai Thiri Kadhal Sudar" song. The sound of this song sure is "different".. There's a recurring male chorus that says something like "PaNaaL paNaal" (like the "Anbe Anbe echo effect in the old song, "Madana MALigayil Mandira mAlaigaLam") The song ends with some swaras (Sudha Danyasi like?) in ARR's voice.
Now I head back to the one that I skipped...."Sandai Kozhi"
This I assure is the only song with some hummable Melody! (and interestingly in this "urban" movie, this song is an exception, in that it has a very folkish sound, like Mudalvan's "Uppu Karuvadu"). Perhaps picturised on Meera Jasmine. Actually in some place where teh songer renders "Ayyaa Ayyaa" it sounds like the "raa saa ve" in Dalapathy's "Chinna Thayaval".
For those who thought they are going to get some respite from Sadhana Sargam and her poor pronunciation (never mind the fact that IR continues to patronise her), be warned!
Madhushree is here! She is here to stay and fill in whatever gap that Sadhana has left behind. Sounds exactly like her and makes the same pronunciation errors!
Now the likes of KR would also be employing her in their forthcoming albums (if at all any :))
The only song I liked was the last number (Sanda Kozhi)
I want the ARR-Mani combo of films like Roja, Thiruda Thiruda, Dil Se and Alaypayuthe!
ARR, please make a real comeback!! We want a better fare from you!!!
