I missed it!
Is Swamiji same as KISHMU? if Yes I must say your YENVANILAE Midi song is a Magnum Opus!!! SUperb rendition...I must confess that I learnt most of my Music from just 2 IR songs one is Punnagai Mannam Theme song (Midi version)which I consider till this date one of the best theme song not just chord changes and voicing, the emotions, the piano interludes is very much on the level to Mozart's SOnata in EbMajor and YenVanilae Song (Please chek out the Midi version..to do justice to the song) especially the 2nd Interludes....Genius!! There are days when I spent wondering what the heck was goin' on in those interludes alone!
Swamiji/Kishmu you must have been really inspired, to say the least, by IR songs to render it with such precision in your Midi....Great work!!

Divakar thanks a lot. You guessed it right - I was (and am) inspired by IR's orchestration. Right now I have taken interest in arranging, and am closely following (only auditorily) all the great arrangers of which I think IR is one! Its an experience re-listening to great works when you know what to listen to. The way different instruments are doubled ("vertical"-texture), the way one instrument plays and others "support" ("horizontal" texture), counters...how different instruments "come and go" and *why* ...you know all those questions that you never thought before. Earlier I was more interested in listening to harmony - but with practice, it was easier for me to guess the chord movements. Anyways, I wanted to say I learnt a lot by just making those midis. Its fun...but takes time. Now I am taking a few melodies from some of my friends and trying to experiment with arranging. I have come up with one or two arrangements, but I am looking for a studio to record. I will try to record and post the song...
Hari I will send u a mail. We can take it from there.

1 clarification regarding your statement
>>>I must confess that I learnt most of my Music from just 2 IR songs one is Punnagai Mannam Theme song (Midi version)which I consider till this date one of the best theme song not just chord changes and voicing, the emotions, the piano interludes is very much on the level to Mozart's SOnata in EbMajor <<<<
do u mean the Theme music in Punnagai mannan(starts like .. Sa ri sa ri ga ma pa.......pa ma ga ,ma ga ri, ga ri sa..). this is actually ARR's composition (came to know from an Interview)when he was working with IR for that movie. pls confirm if its this piece.

satsona
that's not ARR's composition. That's IR's. ARR just programmed it. That's all. Came to know from an interview??! chumma kadha vidadheenga!

Mr. x
Not kadha viding:)
I heard ARR saying it in an interview. So now there are 2 possibilities:
1) Either ARR was telling a lie:)
2) Or you may be right..ARR must have told he programmed it,and I misunderstood that he composed it.
can anyone else confirm, bcos its quite a theme piece to give credit to..
cheers

Hello all,
First Satsona, thats indeed the piece I was talkin about, nice try but I will settle your question once and for all...that composition is IR's!
Ok, here's a new melody titled "In Search...."
i have written in such a way when the tune traverses up its a little heavy and when it comes down its happy and smooth....the Acoustic Guitar takes over at the end with traversing the Chords...In order to avoid bandwidth problems I have uploaded it in

One of the other compositions in a Raga Called Miyan Ki Malhaar(Kafi-Kananda Carnatic) on my O/D Electric Guitar....that can be found here...

Hope you like it..

Divakar,
I absolutely adored your "Miyan Ki Malhar" composition. However, your "Dance with the piano" was even more amazing. I could imagine your fingers flying all over the piano while playing this piece.

Guys,
Recently I did background music score for a short movie (about 8 mins) for my good friend/director Arun, Arun has vast creativity and idea.
This short film was done for NYFA. This film has no dialogues, a slapstick crime-comedy where the background music guides you through the story line. We have real fun working for this movie, this has an international cast :)
You can watch this movie from the link in my page.

Srikanth,
I had already watched that movie as soon as you had posted it. I really enjoyed the comical way in which the thief's antics were translated into music and the anti climax. Really enjoyed the movie and your music. Looking forward to more of this!!!

Hi satsona, punnagai mannan theme music was IR's composition indeed and ARR was only an assistant. Music director Thayanban, who is our friend has told us about this sensational theme in 1987 itself. Now that ARR has become a hot spot , it has become fashionable to attribute the works of Punnagai mannan and AgniNatchathiram to ARR when they strongly bear IR trade mark. Any discerning IR music listener will know it is cent percent IRish.

Dear All,
I am sorry for a 'slight' degression from the topic. Are there any people in here who have recorded their tracks in a recording studio environment. I am doing some research on building a Distributed Audio Processing System where processing of huge audio data is auto-assigned to different idle systems in a network environment. My first study is if it will be useful for recording people, and my second is a feasibility study. I am in the first phase. I would request my friends in here to let me know if it will be helpful for them.
A brief spec:
1) Divide multiple processing into different tasks.
2) Assign each of this processing to different idle systems in a network.
For this I am building a sound editing environment with "Effect Arrays", "Multi Format Editing" and things. If you would like to know more and help me out in this study, please e-mail me at eswar_prakash@yahoo.com
Thanks,
Eswar

Srikant,
Good job. fits the move perfectly! Its quite a different thing to do music for movies isnt it?

Radhika & Jay Thanks,
Yes, I was something different, music though the main engine for the movie it is still a background task. It should not dominate the movie itself. I composed many parts with different ideas, i was able to give choices to the director. the Director (Arun) cleary knew what he wanted, he knows the screen play better than anyone.
Technically,getting the Sync was vital
I was able to sync frame to frame quite easily thanks to protools. Composing was done based on frames. The theme music was in 6/8 which added more pep and finally when the plot is out, music changes to theme-2. These 2 scores were sequenced. Other parts in between were scored on the spot and recorded live. The Sound efx effects were also punched live. As usual had great fun!...:)

Srikanth,
It was brilliant. Had all the charms of the lilting tune combined with the crystal clear sounds. You have made the composition sound more lively. Hats off, Pal.

Very refreshing, Score Srikanth! Best treat for ID15. Orchestration is very rich, theme oriented.Gives a special feel of being home especially at 12AM mid-night Aug14. Hats off..Sundar's singing is amazing, excellent depth in rendition. I think this song progresses in all the extreme ranges(high, mid, low) and he has very sweet on all the ranges with patriotic expressions. Great job.

Wonderful orchestration Srikanth.
BTW, is the word "Sudhanthiram" pronounced as "Suganthiram"? or is it a new word?
