NagaS,
U R Right.
YSR is very good in BGM too. He has of course handled a series of movies, giving quality music(may be not his best). I think handling many projects simultaneously is not that easy. Has any other MD had handled these many movies(except for his FATHER, father of MUSIC) in such a short span? There is a lot of talent still to come from this guy. Yet another GEM for/from Tamil Film Industry.

Except for IRfans and a few people here and there, not many people think that YSR has come up with six good albums.
I think you are over stretching the truth when you claim that YSR is as good as Vidhyasagar.
Current situation:
ARR - *******
Vidhyasagar - ****
YSR - **
IR - 0

NagaS,
YSR defintely represnts a new generation of music directors .he definetly has a unique style different from Kr ,IR ..His tunes are very catchy and most of them are dancing numbers .
But ther are some points
1.If he continues to give compositions between GOOD and VERY GOOD ,therr is no use. We will soon get bored of this music .If iam right both Ar Rehman and IR gave great HITS in their first 25 films ( after that too!!!)
2.He uses too many synthetic sounds which are very irritating and most of the songs have a very strong influence .I don't prefer MP for thsi reason .As i see it ,only the sounds he uses are prominent .This should definetly change .
I haven't heard POp Carn .Till now i have heard till PP
Ian waiting for KR's Three Roses .Should be intresting as i supose KR will go western in this .

I feel that YSR is easily better than VS and in my opinion, is the closest thing that ARR has to competition. YSR does great songs, and great music. his music is maturing as time goes on and I feel that he is the number one in TFM currently, without a doubt.
Digression, has anybody hear the song by the Group Las Ketchup? It is called the ketchup song and was released in the summer. They seem to have been heavily inspired by YSR's Allday Jollyday from Manathai Thirudi Vittai!

I had downloaded songs of both Punnagai Poove and Dhool (VS) yesterday. PP was, if I may use the word, pedestrian. Its time YSR stopped signing new films and took stock of what he's upto. On a different note, a massy album like Dhool was fairly listenable. Even though many songs remind me of some other song (more so the last song, which is a very clever version of Aqua's Barbie Girl), its pretty catchy. Not in the lague of Run but I think this should do well for VS.

Karthik S,
Thanks for your comments on PP, I respect them, But at the same time I strongly feel comments like 'Its time YSR stopped signing new films and took stock of what he's upto' have a different intention !
How can we say this to YSR ? Who are we to say this ? Who expected TI will be such a hit ? Don't you think Directors / Producers will expect same kind of songs from YSR after the success of TI ? He is delivering what is expected from him and thats it ... he is selling and thats what is the most important factor in TFM today (Even the average April Madhaththil is doing fine in terms of cassete sales I hear !)
I agree, its tough to handle 10+ movie in hand - I think IR was the only one who could handle such a workload with good quality, YSR is trying his best, why don't we just leave him like that ?
If scoring 1 album every 6 months is ARR's / Karthik Raja's style - let it be, this is YSR's style and I don't want to disturb him with the flow, Success in such a young age is something only one in a million will get - Let him enjoy that, he will mature with time - he has all the time in the world for that !

i think PP is above average compare to VS new album like WELDONE, Dhool. YSR is talented even such a low budget film( PP- Kuppai padam) can give catcy songs. Each album diffirent tune and listenable.
Next time you all don't compare VS with YSR.

NagaS,
What a great way to say that U disagree with Karthik S.It is really nice to see someone say that he "Agrees To Disagree" with someone in such a good way.Keep it up man.(After a long time, such a nice mail in TFM)
And I also heard PP in "Thaalam.com" and I shld say that I was not that impressed with this album.(I like MP so much and YSR is one of my Fav. MD's now).I also felt that YSR shld atleast give sometime b/w albums so that he will have more time to work on them. Also he is accepting albums as though he would not get more albums in the future and he appears to be working like someone who wants to "Make Hay While The Sun Shines".(It is not at all wrong!!!!!!!!!!)
In my humble opinion,he has got a great talent and he will surely get (lot) more albums even if he takes them selectively. What do U say NagaS and Karthik???.

NagaS:
I downloaded them from thaalam.com...I generally download the real audios and listen to them at home in peace and then decide whether its worth buying the cassette/CD!
And I prefectly understand that its not YSR's mistake that so many of his albums are coming out back to back...some might be in the backlog, like TI and come out along with others...and that may look like too many in too less a time! But every other composer cannot be an Ilayaraja. Ir used to compose for so many films at one go in his heydays, sometime in the 80s and almost every film had fab tunes (say at least 3 great chartbusters)...I dont think you can expect that from anybody else...!
The smarter way is to stretch your burnout rate...something like what ARR or even Harris is doing. Everybody burns out at some point and it'd be prudent to spread it as much as possible to keep the show going in a decent standard...moreso when one is in arts.
Another version to this is 'inspiration'. Not the i2fs type, but genuine inspiration to compose good tunes...that stems from the director's vision. Being an ARR fan, I really envy IR for having a director like Bala asking him to compose for him. That kind of commitment is few and rare in TFM and composers who get such projects should consider themselves lucky! YSR should seek such people and not instantly associate with newcomers out of the blue. Maybe a mandatory hearing of the story/script and a reasonable assumption of the director's capabilities would help. But I agree, its pretty difficult and comes with experience!

Karthik S,
Fully agreed ... Somebody should count number of debut directors in YSR albums till date, Im sure it would be atleast 70%

Bala was a newcomer 2 movies ago.. I think i read in an interview(dinakaran.com...its 2 days ago) he said he feels more competition with the new directors out there than the big heads. Yuvan himself did for Murugathas who is well recognized now. For the type of Yuvan i think its good to give new directors as long as they are not some masala ppl. i am sure they will have the kind of commitment when YSR proves some more. Right now he is still a whiz kid :P

Karthik S,
I guess you know what Bala has said about his yesteryears while "asking for IR to do a music for him" in pithamagan. Bala said (something like) "IR listened to my script of sethu when this bala was a newcomer, when no one cared about him. He even said 'something(good) has to be done for you da'. Now this bala is identified by many, but at that time? I would be grateful to IR for what he did to me for sethu even if the film would have floped". IR has done like this to many directors.
So altogether not associating with newcomers is not good. I think YSR is trying to emulate his father here. But YES as you say, "a mandatory hearing of the story/script and a reasonable assumption of the director's capabilities would help" is definitely to be followed.
