What's the buzz about ALBUM in Chennai media circuits? Is it getting the promotion it rightly deserves?
None of the magazines seem to be writing about film music these days!

If you can ignore the 'La' in the pronunciation of Madhu Balakrishnan, his 'Pillai Thaamarai Pillai thaamarai azhuvadhu Yenammaa' is one of the best male solos in the last couple of years.
Very smooth rendition, with excellent instrumental arrangement. Great lyrics too.
Hope they come up with a 'corrected' version in the next edition of cassettes/CDs as well as in the film's soundtrack.

KKKG came after Ullam Kollai Poguthey. So who copied whom?

Excellent Idea Shwetha, This has never happened in TFM before if I remember right - Would be great if they can correct this small mistake in a wonderful song - atleast in the movie !

I was not talking of the Ullam Kollai Poguthey song with regard to the humming. The song has a tune that is very same to the UKP song. All I wanted to put forth was that the humming (hear the song again) is a straight lift from K3G.......

Excellent composition from KR.. his 'Ullam Kollai Poguthey' was too great but didnt get the appreciation it deserved.. this is the best album so far in 2002.. Chellama Chellam tops the list.. and the lyrics are too good.. keep it up KR.

NagaS,
From a production house like Balachander's Kavithalaya, it's surprising that not a single person has realized this blunder in that wonderful song as yet???
Like Shweta said, it would be great if they 'correct' it in the movie and the future editions of the album. Cheithi, have they not released the songs in CD yet? What's the music label?

That could be the other way also :-)
Yugabharathy, who wrote 'kaathal pisaasee' in the movie 'Run' is a close friend of my friend in chennai ... When I heard this song for the first time, I wrote to him and asked why your friend agreed for such a 'bad' (to put it mild ;-) pronounciation from Udit NarayaN, He checked with Yugabharathy and looks like the Run team believes 'kaathal pisaasee' is a HIT mainly because of Udit's mazalaith thamiz !
Enga poy muttikkaRathu sollunga ? Same could be the case with 'Album' !

who has got more rights over pronounciation?
Music Director or Lyricist.
I think it is Music director. It will be Karthik Raaja'a fault then.
Have pinching feeling whenever 'vizhi' becomes 'vili'. Any way can't prevent listening to song. A beautiful song with a small black mark.
The humming at the begining of the song is by Karthik Raaja right?

I fully agree with Kalai,
its Karthik Raja's fault ... Run Example I gave because I knew only the poet in that case !
The bg humming is by Karthik Raja !

FYI (Murugan?),
Great effort.
I wonder if they are publicizing the best song of the album, 'KAdhal vAnoli' at all in Chennai? Hope it doesn't go unnoticed, thanks to zero-publicity!
BTW, are you in anyway connected to the film's crew?
If so, please forward our 'aadhangam' about the piLlai thAmarai song to the people concerned. If they record those ViLi portions again, and release it, romba PuNNiyamaa pOgum ;)
I do agree that the MD is ultimately responsible for such errors, though the lyricist is usually present during recordings.
Madhu has rendered the rest of the lines to near perfection. He almost sounds like the Yesudas of the 70's-80's at most places. I believe he is still based in Kerala. Would more MDs offer him a chance to sing in Tamil if he relocates to Chennai? Perhaps. But if they can call the Udits and Sukhvinder for their 'speciality' in killing songs all the way from Bombay, they can once in a while call this talented young man from Kerala to render some good stuff too!
What say?

Peter Pan,
I am keep passing the comments of this forum to my friend vasantha balan (director of ALBUM). I already told him about the vizhi issue. Also I will inform him about our TFM members suggestion.
Anybody want to suggest your opinion, please send a mail directly to gurubalan@yahoo.com (Vasantha Balan).
Try our best...

Murugan,
is the director, your friend? does know that the songs are uploaded on the net. No objections from him.
we all will be thankful to the ALBUM crew, if VILI is corrected.
One question! how many of us(thread participants) have bought ALBUM audio, how may of just have the downloaded stuff. I accept that it isn't affordable to buy all the cassette or CD we listen to. We can atleast pay for the ones which we are very impressed. This will give some compensation for producers. Something is better than Nothing.
Yennada ivan romba paesaran endru ninaikka vendaam...
just my suggestion ;-)
I bought ALBUM cassette since Karthi Raaja is one of my favourites. I do have the downloaded songs.

ALBUM CD/Cassete is still not available in US/Canada/UK. Since the expectations created by our Indian friends, by request cheithi provided this Low-Quality Real audio.
Hope our friends will buy a original audio once it is available. No one always wanted to listen low qual. real audio, that too when the songs are good.
If I am not uploading, someone going to do the same soon or later.
I did't get a permission from him... if he objects I will shut it down immediately.
FYI... I am still waiting for the audio cassete which is sent by him from INDIA.

Kalai - i got the ALBUM cassette..... the paper *cover* was nice - but the Cassette outer was *junk* plastic (reminded me of the *PINK* cassettes of old IR songs)..... i will buy the CD when it comes out.... i wish i could get a CD combo like "ALBUM/Kaathal Samrajyam" or some worthy combo..... not like the one i got for "Kaadhal Jaadhi" or Kaasi....

Murugan,
Does your friend respond to your queries?
What did he say was the reason for not releasing/marketing the CDs? And why hasn't the album not been released outside India?
Do keep us informed.
Sabesan,
Don't these combo CDs omit some songs from either films?

Peter Pan - as far as IR movies (like Kaadhal Jaadhi or Kaasi or Azhagi) - no they had all the songs..... but not sure about the other JUNK movie that came along with these....

The "tell me now ..tell me now" portion of Chellame chellam is exactly same as "Kehadhiya Kehadhiya you are my sonia" part of K3G song.
Karthik Raja...I loved this song after hearing it in TV but you need not have lifted a third graded hindi stuff.

Are Yaar and Pradeep (who has been repeatedly rasing this question in this thread :)),
The similarity IMO lies in the rhythm of the words and of course the meaning of 'Kehdo Na' is 'Tell me'. While 'Kehdo Na; Kehdo Na; You are my Sonia' has shades of Mohanam, 'Tell Me Now; Tell Me Now; Tell Me Tell Me Tell Me now...' is in Pilu (KApi).
KR with this album has really tried to create his own identity, making few compromises and being very original. So, let's welcome him wholeheartedly and hope that the success of this effort will inspire him to come up with uncompromising, original scores in future.
I however didn't like that English phrase in the 'Album' song at all! This nursery rhyme kind of line sticks out like a sore thumb in the otherwise good song. Wonder why they think it will make the song 'cuter' and appealing to the Teens!

>>>While 'Kehdo Na; Kehdo Na; You are my Sonia' has shades of Mohanam, 'Tell Me Now; Tell Me Now; Tell Me Tell Me Tell Me now...' is in Pilu (KApi).
Oh God. Imagine if ARR had done that. Will you people have that split of a second to spare a thought like this. ?Tell me what would have been your natural reaction. Mohanam & Kapi...would they have any reference there?
>>>KR with this album has really tried to create his own identity, making few compromises and being very original.
I did not say that the album was bad. I said I liked what ever I listened in TV. Also, I am not the one who will just originality in crude way. For me a nice improvisation is as much as original. I just brought our a fact and recorded it here. I included the obvious reference .."You too KR"...just to ingine some hot response. Just that.
My wishes to KR anyway.
