Here's Chuck Berry's No particular place to go.
http://blake.prohosting.com/~cyan1/Chuckberry-NoParticular.rm
There is some marginal similarity with IR's aatama paatama, but I think IR was just trying a song in the rock and roll genre and not trying to copy anyone.
On the same song, I think I've heard this song before. And after some thinking I remember listening to this song (maybe different, but similar tune) in the movie Idhayam. It was the stage show (a inter college fest) and before Murali could come on stage and sing pottu vecha, a few other college groups staged their acts. There was one colege act which danced to a similar tune like this.
IR has got nothing to do with that. Just
mentioning this info!
On rock and rolls...ARR had used a rock and roll kind of feel for Kaadhal desam's 'kalloori saalai' song. A particular piece of music which comes after the words kalloori salai is definite rock and roll. Is it inspired? Anybody knows it?

Also heard Debussy's Dialogue of the wind and the sea.
Yaaro:
I dont think it has anything to do with TT's rasaathee number. Not even the opening humming and so on. Absolutely no similarity at all. Not even a chance resemblance as you mentioned, leave alone a note to note resenblance. Lemme try posting the song soon.

I think a lots of people post messages on copying for the heck of it or to get attention. Most them are junk!
The best junk fart I think is NaNbaN, who had posted a long list long back! Look at the amount of fart man.
Execpt 6, 8, 10, 13 (even these we've heard n number of times, before) all are A-class farts. he has, for obvious reasons, bothered to back his claims after this!

Good topic I am Inspired..
ARR:
1. "Chinna Chinna Aasai" - Based on Nusery Rhymes by Linda Seager(sweden)
The cassette is available in Chennai.
And the music score is no different from Jamaican Reggae. There 100 songs like this in Jamaica.
(FYI - I am currently in Caribbean Island). ARR
Rustic Humming makes the difference in the song.
2. "Rukumani Rukumani" Humming lifetd from-The Profiler (English Rock band Group)
3."Pudhuthu Vellai Malai" - BEAT is a copy of Car Commericial (more than one).
4. "Tamila Tamila" - The Lead piece sounds like
one of the Bryan Adam song. I am not sure (HELP!). A similair piece comes as BGM in Gentleman. The scene is when ARJUN's MAKE_UP clothes are shown in top of the hill.
5. "July matham vanthal" - Th Guitar piece is
Direct lift from Khaleed song Thilabee... Thilaybe..( AIBUM DiDi)
6. "Kaadhalikum pennin kaikal thotu.."(Kaadhalan)- A direct lift from IR song "Poovin meethu theenai alli" from December Pookkal or January Pookkal. ARR made IR's violin as a Humming....(famous)and altered the tune little bit with ARR flavour.
7. "Muqala.. Muqabula.." - Starts with For few dollars more orchestration and the BELL sound of
Good Bad and Ugly. A tune and BEAT based on
IR's "Yeee.. Unnai thanney, Nee Entha ooru.. Enodu Aadu.." FILM:Kaadhal parusu. The BEAT is almost same with ARR flavour.
Then song turns into typicall RD BURMAN mode and
stays there. After the end of vocal and when animation starts, there comes BEAT of Samantha FOX(Album: Satisfaction), Then tranform directly to DR. Alban BEATS of Matha O..Ya..Ae Oh.... and ends with it.
Somebody saying in some thread about Multiple Inheritance of DEVA. Wow! This song is Excellent Example Mutilple Inheritance of ARR (GREAT!!)
8. "Ithu sugam.. sugam.."- vani Jairam, Film: Vandi chollai sinarasu.
Orchestration based on IR song "yemm theba thasavuraa..." Film: Ashwamedham (Telugu).ARR never forgets to add his flavour.
9. "Putham Pudthu bhoomi" - Car commerical for Volkswagen
10. "Thenmerku paruva kattru" - BEAT and Squibble
sound from Dr. Alban's ONE LOVE.
11. "Kaduu.. pootta Kadu.." -Sung by BharathiRaja the start music is again from Dr. Alban (ONE LOVE) rustic african sound.
12. "Palghatu machanuku pattuna..." from May matham. I heard this tune some where couldn't find till now. Long standing mystery for me.
13. "Super Police.." (Teluge movie) BEAT directly lifted from Dr. Alban Matha O..Ya..Ae Oh.... Here ARR didn't moderate as he did in muqala.. muqabula..
14. "Telephone manipol..." - INDIAN, The Second interlude (rustic fulte like) is from ENIGMA.
15. "No problem.. " sung by ApacheIndian is directly lifted from Caribbean band SQUARE-ONE, with as usual small changes.
16. "Yedu da..antha suriya mellam" - BEAT based
on BONEY M Album: Booonooonooous.
17. "Venilavay Venilavaee.." -(Minsara Kanuvu)
The Music, sound , Humming all based on Boney M song "The African Moon" Album: Booonooonoous. It was first lifted by RD Burman. He already customized it for INDIAN audience(its a Amitabh Film). So it was easy for ARR to improvise??. So it became "The INDIAN moon" (Vennila, Chanda) Interesting Isn't it??.
Apart from all these ARR has Here and there is DR. Alban touch in kaadhal desam and KennyG in Duet.
I will post some more on ARR later.
NOW
IR :
1. Famous Darling..Darling from BoneyM sunny.. sunny
2. "Ninayvoo Oru Paravai"(Sivappoo Rojakkal). The
First interlude is based on For a Few dollars more theme music.
3. "Meen Kodi theyril Manmatha rajan"(film:??)
The starting music and even rythm(to some extent)is based on Osibisa Album:??. Bab segal also made tune(Thanda Thanda Pani) based on Osibisa song.
4. A Song in Engayyo Keta Kurral (Rajini) is based on BoneyM . Not able remember both the songs. (HELP!)
5. A song in Muthal Vasantham by Ramya and
Pandiyan is based on Hugomontenegor Orchestra
(Oscar Winner in 1969)
6. "Aasa athikam vachuu" -( Marupadiyum) This songs first interlude is based on the same above song.
7. "Nooru varsum..Intha mappilayum ponnum.."(KamalHassan & vijashanthi film). The tune totally lifted from Hindi film acted by Amitabh ( Mere Angane mein tera kya kaam hai, (Especially this line) Jiski biwi moti uska bhi bada naam hai).
8. "Ayiram thamarai mootukalae.. vanthu Ananda kuumikal.." - Alaykal Oyvathilay based on
village temple tune( yanna(Elephant) varuthu parungamma, athu aasinju(shake)varuthu parungamma).
9. "Kaadhal theen Eduka varadha..Kanni poo mudika.." - Karthik and suhasini film (name ??).
BEAT lifetd from JAM (Dangerous) More of Karthik Raja Effect. I am sure he scored the music.
Time is running out for me. I will post later....
Inspired,
NaNbaN

Karthik...
I would appreciate it more if you do a similar research on the "sources" you have mentioned were themselves inspired from....that would be fair enough !

Karthik, there are , i think, two to three movements and rasathee definitely resembles a trumpet piece from one of them-I dont go about making statements to get 'attention'-what good is it to me-in fact this resemblance was what made me sit up and notice the piece i mentioned.i am impartial, if you go back enough into the archives, i was the first one to mention new age symphony as inspiration for iR's chittukkuruvi and deva's lift of Beethovens 5th symphony interlude-rather a passage -for annamamlai.I dont need your opinion.i believe my ears.listen to the full le mar before branding me as attention seeking-I certainly dont need your attention!

yaaro:
Hey thats not fair. I never called you a attention seeker. It was only about NaNbaN and too that in my subsequent post. Nor was the tone of my mail hostile. If you found it that way, I sincerely apologise.
I make a clear distinction from dumb posters and more intelligent posters. I really consider you among the latter and of course, I have seen your mails on chittu kuruvi and annamalai.
I agree that I'm a ARR fan, but that doesnt stop me from unearthing his inspirations. It helps me learn the kind of composer he is. It also introduces me to various genres of music and listen to new artists. I had listened to just one track from Le Mar, Dialogue of the wind and the sea and did not find any inspiration for Rasathee in that track. Was it not the track you had mentioned?
But as you said, let me listen to the whole thing and get back. I'd be really happy if I do find a source from which ARR was inspired. I'd typically like to ascertain what kind of isnpiration it is...mindless or more intelligent inspiration.
And needless to say, I'd definitely post the song for others to listen and verify.

This is what I heard based on your posting. I'm really not into WCM and do not know the intricacies. Could you guide me as to what I should listen...

In the clip mentioned above, I could not find rasathee anywhere, which is what I mentioned. If I'm missing something please do let me know.

Ok, do you guys remember the opening piece of "Jumbalakka"? That guy yodeling or whatever? I heard the *exact* piece for 30 seconds odd on a National Geographic program on Spain. BTW, I sat thru the end of the program - it was made in 1989. So...

the muted trumpet part (sa re pa i think), which sounds like ra sa the...other than there is nothing close to that song in the score, imho:It is a mere coincidence.
similarly few weeks ago in NPR radio, i heard a piece which was just like rakama kaiyathatu, opening score, infact same violin arrangement, I emailed them asking about this, no reply Yet!...I think to be a coincedence too.
