Vangonna Ada Vangonna used to be quite popular. I also recall another song which goes like "Ayyar Aatthu Ponnu Sonna Kettukkoda Ambi"
Of course, the quintessential one is
"Adutthatthu Ambujatthaip Patthela"
Any more ?

MSRidhar :
Brahmins mad about caste" as "mad Brahmins".
your argument is like this,
--- i just said fools, not bloody fools ...whats wrong in it ?.
first and foremost This is not the place to tell who is mad about cast and who is not.
Hope you got my point. No one misinterpreted, everyone can read all the postings including yours, they can very clearly understand.

ms,
i have tried hard, but u still refuse to see reason.
``Not my opinion but a truth. You have to conform to the truth. Conservatism? will you dare to discuss religion, sex or caste in
public in Tamil Nadu, or even in India. You would be spitting fire.''
here u go again. may be u never discuss these issues wherever u are, but out here in chennai several people do. apparently u haven't met any. anyway, it doesn't matter whether people in tn or india do, the point is we can definitely do it on the net, even if u are complaining.
``But the the long cherished moral values will lose their importance - definately true.''
need i say anything? u seem hell-bent on teaching us a moral lesson and that attenmpt is unwarranted.
``Brahmin dialect songs is not about Tamil Film Music. No scope for discussing music.''
says who? u. and why should i buy that? u don't own this place, so why do u assume u have the right to tell us what has scope for discussing music and what doesn't.
``"no one can post a thread" - (how can you dictate?)''
i'd be the last to dictate, but what i was trying to drive home is that any non-music topic will be weeded out.
``i cannot help if you feel so. I am not passing a judgement. Read them a couple of times with unprejudiced mind and the truth of the statement become clear.''
but u are, dear ms, and that's why i said u don't seem to be getting the point. i don't think u should be talking of unprejudiced minds, since u are the one who raised the whole issue in the first place, calling brahmins names.
``Still if you want to say likes and dislikes are not personal, favouritism is favourable and discrimination is acceptable then I would say you are just trying to disprove the truth. Now do not tell me that I am trying to impose the truth or that what is truth to me may not be for you. Truth is univerasl. I have to write a couple of statements deviating from the main point as I am drawn towards them.''
these statements only betray ur fascist tendencies (strictly my opinion, not a Universal Truth). anyway, these things don't belong here sinply because these have nothing to do with tfm.
``The point of the
phrase and the arguement in totality is clear. Read what I wrote:
Somebody misinterpreted what I had written clearly "Brahmins mad about caste" as "mad Brahmins".''
forget the distortion, why did u even make such a statement in the first place? here we were trying to remember which songs had a brahmin dialect and u start breathing fire.
``Surely Brahmins (majority of them) are mad about caste and this phrase does not demean them. It shows their bad way of imposing superiority on people, a "chronic disease" passed on from generation to generation.''
gawd, and u still think u are not judgemental. u have an axe to grind against brahmins, but why newtfmpage.com, for heaven's sake? as i said earlier, u are welcome to talk music, but if u continue to make such statements, then it will only make this lovely forum a slanging match arena.
i hope u have got the message. u have an opinion on brahmins, but this is just not he place. now, that's an absolute truth for u.

M.Sridharan:
If your views and concerns are genuine, please do continue this discussion in the forumhub (www.forumhub.com). The forumhub is a sister-site that ecompasses a wider range of topics than newtfmpage.com In fact, newtfmpage.com itself can be discussed in the forumhub. So, you can start a topic on whether a public forum on music like newtfmpage.com can include discussions that (in your opinion) propagate brahminism - or whatever you think the problem really is. Once you start such a topic, you can paste the link to it as a message in this thread and people who would like to discuss along those lines can do so harmoniously at the right place. This forum is not meant to discuss the relevance or necessity or intent of threads in this forum ! The forumhub would be the appropriate place to do that. Thank you for your co-operation.

RV, amidst all the noisy squabbles you were able to add one more song. congrats. I remember the song in Cho's Mr Sampath 'Alankaaram yedhukkadi adi asade'. I do not know whether 'Theriyaadho nookku theriyaadho. Ilam paruvathile kaadhalippadhu paithiyam pol aagumunnu theriyaadho' is listed.

M.Sridharan :
Though many people have tried to give substantial reasoning, their words seem to have fallen in deaf ears.
Well, TFM-music is NOT confined to the musical aspect of TFM, but also about the lyrics. In that sense, Brahmin-dialect songs are very much relevant to the scope of newtfmpage.
While most of us share your anxities regarding communism, casteism etc, these things are best discussed at FORUMHUB.COM, as suggested by Srinath. There are many lively discussions going on there - and some of your concerns are better if they find a place there!

But Udhaya, do Forumers need to know that you are a Brahmin or otherwise? I dont give a damn and you dont either. Wont it be better to ignore this guy?
RV,
A claim was made that caste has something to do with participation in this thread. I wanted to refute that claim by stating that it's wrong in my case. I don't give a damn about whether you do or don't give a damn. I don't walk away from incendiary remarks. Perhaps you do. You turn the other cheek, that's noble of you. I don't.
Dealing with unpleasant things is part of life. Ignoring problems doesn't make them go away. If there's a personal peace achieved by staying away from heat, I haven't found it. I grew up being fed the gospel of apathy, nothing good came from practicing it. At least in my way, there's mutual pain on both sides and the other guy goes home just as bruised if not more. I won't abandon the temple because the bats have taken it over. I'll be doing my part to torch every nook and cranny. If you can't appreciate my way, I understand.
I think all valid points have been made on this issue by the many posts today. Right now I'm convinced that RajaG's saying is the truth of the matter with the guy who instigated all this. I will not address this issue anymore, unless someone gets my blood up.

`vAngonnA', the second biggest hit of IR's career after `machchAna' was not banned in TN at any point of time:-) It was just that AIR chose not to broadcast that song due to reasons best known to them!
The `vAngonnA' of PS made its waves across all TN (esp. villages) so much that we even had a program (skit) at our school day featuring the lines of this song!

Udhaya: I had earlier written, "Udhaya, Thanks for your postings - not in this thread, but in several other threads". Oops! I meant, "not just in this thread, but in several other threads too." I generally enjoy your postings!
As far as comments about turning the other cheek, or whether we give a damn about caste or each others opinion etc., seemingly we hv a difference of opinion about the suitability of this forum to discuss these issues; if you want to discuss this difference of opinion,we can take it offline.

`vellarikka pinju vellarikka' has this bit of brahmin dialect when a priest sings ``something...something kaanbeero, ,..... maatteero''.
