Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.

  bb as far as I know it is directed against the moderates in the congress party viz-a-viz tilak and other extremists. dont remember the exact trigger but something to do with the hesitancy of the moderates to act firmly against the british..

  Raj, the rant against the moderates was 'nenjil uramumindri, nErmaith thiRanum indri', which Bharathiyar wrote after the Surat maanaadu. Not this one.

  I wish you keep log apart from Blog to keep the same singer's songs a minimum gap of one week.Since you have set the pace and Standard ,with valuable inputs from Saravanan for the SOTD there is enough in TFM to feature till the next millenium.Try singers like Usha Uthup,TL Maharajan,Jolly Abraham,Ashok MDs like TGL,SRajeswara Rao,SMS,CRS,SVV,CNP,lyricists like Alangudi Somu,Ku.Ma.Pa to add to the variety.It is a sincere request to keep the admin away from allegations of favourtism.Try mapping the singers,decades,MDs,lyricists to optimize.A 80s Maruthaksi song should be of more interest.

  - Sung by Malaysia Vasudevan and S.Janaki. Music by Ilayaraja. Lyrics by Gangai Amaran.
  
  - This was the second movie for Rudraiah, after his avaL appadiththaan. The film was released in 1980. It could not repeat the critical success of avaL appadiththaan turned out to be a damp squib. IR gave 4 good songs in this film. Apart from the SOTD, it had 'poovE idhu poojaik kaalamE (Sasirekha), vAdAtha rOsappoo (SPB) and oodha kaaththu (Jayachandran and SJ).
  
  - This song has an infectious rhythm and some typically boisterous singing by MV and SJ (in spite of her singing "aachey" instead of aasai).

  OISG, to provide variety is just one of the factors in choosing a SOTD. I don't want to make it an exercise where I can't choose a song that I've been listening to all day, just because I featured that singer recently.
  
  Overall, I think the SOTD collection will resemble TFM; if IR and MSV ruled TFM, they will rule SOTD also. If Kannadasan wrote far more worthy songs than Somu or Maruthakasi, that will be reflected in SOTD too.
  
  That said, I think there has been enough variety now compared to a while ago. If you or anyone else sends me rare/different ones, I will feature them. Jolly Abraham..hmm.. Does anyone have nadigai paarkkum naadagam?

  oodha kaathu veesayila, IMO, is the true winner of this album. Listen to SJ bring the rustic flavor effortlessly in that song with her diction and rendition.

  Gramathu adhyayam *ed Dr.Krishnaveni as the heroine,Rameswari's sister was a box office diaster.
  
  anagnage interludesil "thoranm adidum medayil"from Vetrikku oruvan gnabagam vanthalum this song is a superb one for the SJ factor.
  
  I do not have high opinions on Vidya sagar.He rips one of IR songs for the tune and for the arrangement rips of ARR.This song is the inspiration for his "thamarai poovukkum thanikkum eppavum"from Pasumpon IMHO.

  - The medimix-dinakaran awards were shown on Sun TV last Sunday. The best music director for 2003 award went to Dhina for Thiruda Thirudi. Given such albums like Anbe sivam in 2003, this seemed to be a flawed choice (for that matter, most of the winners didn't seem to deserve to win anything). Vidyasagar had given some really good songs in anbE sivam, including 'yaar yaar sivam' that was featured in SOTD earlier. Today's song is a good romantic number with a fascinating prelude. I wonder how Kamalhasan didn't get to sing this song himself.
  
  - Vijay Prakash has sung only a few song till now, the latest being the title track from the S.J.Surya film yet to be released, 'New'. He seems to have sung a few in Hindi too. An article in TOI mentions that he is a disciple of Suresh Wadkar.

  The SOTD is a good number that was regularly playing in my system for a while. Hamsanadham doesnt get used a lot but when it does the result is often pleasant.The choice of singers could have been better. The song has a fresh feel to it.

  Vidyasagar has had a pretty good run recently.Some of my picks of his songs:
  
  Aalanguyil & Kana kandenadi from Parthiban Kanavu - the former is a stunner, has it been SOTD already?
  
  Neeya Pesiyadhu from Thirumalai and Poi solla koodadhu from Run. Another song thiththikkudhe is also noteworthy. A few assorted songs from other albums.
  
  Overall, he did a much better job than HJ and YSR combined.

  A good, melodious song by Vidyasagar.
  
  Vijay Prakash has sung songs like 'Kaadhal arimugama'(Kaadhal Kisu Kisu), 'Kanngalum kanngalum' (Ragasiyamai), and of course, the title track in New. He has sung numerous non-film devotional albums in Hindi (Shubhlaabh, Vignaharta, Shree Gajanana, Glimpses of Gita, Mangal Kaamna). His forays in Hindi film music include 'Ek bechainee' ('Nayee Padosan), 'Sannate mein'(Baaz),'Homework'(Darna Mana Hai), 'Ghor andhere' & 'Boot hoon main'(Bhoot)
  
  'Azhagooril pirandhavale' from Thirumalai is a good number from Vidyasagar in recent times, besides the songs of Thendral.
