Sriki, oru suggestion. May be you can add 10-15 secs to mp3 before the song, where you say that it is your work, sung by so-and-so, your website and so on. If people keep fwding your mp3 to others, and finally it reaches someone, this is a good way to make sure they know that the clip is yours. I think other composers should follow this too.

Srikanth,
Glad you posted this song. Really enjoyed listening to it thro headphones...
Its such an incredibly fun song and Suresh has done full justice to it with his spirited singing .
Your foot tapping music is extremely lively.
Mahesh's fun hooks add a lot to the feel of this song and they have been delivered well.
As always, Hats off to Udhaya.
Wonderful job by this talented team!!!!

Srikanth,
I listened to “grAmiya kAdhalan with some concern after your disclaimer about pronunciation. I was gladly surprised. There were no glaring pronunciation problems that I picked up. Besides, this being a colloquial village song, some leeway is granted on informality and accentuation. There is one word that has been misinterpreted by you guys (of course it is entirely my fault with cryptic transliteration!). Thankfully, the meaning is still relevant with the changed word and makes a different kind of sense. How lucky am I with this happy accident! Let me see if someone finds that word.
The composition shows your creativity as usual. While your earlier "Cart Song" was firmly rooted in rustic folk music, this one begins at home and travels to unnamed islands of rhythm. In fact, this is a pared down, minimalist song for you (or so I think from the few listens; maybe there are many subtle things at play that my ears missed, if so forgive me, I never claim to be a musician). The flute and chorus add just enough native flavors to anchor the song at home. The many playful additions you guys have thought up like "poyya" and "venaam" preserve and enhance the song's spirit. Suresh, Mahesh, Harini, Sunder, and Sridhar deserve full credit for realizing the song's essence from transliterated lyrics. The song sounds wholesome enough to me that I can't remember the lyrics you left out.
Oh, an important thing I should mention for others--this is Srikanth's tune to my preset lyrics. There aren't many comforting things in my life right now, so this song comes as a group hug to my soul and senses. Thanks, guys.
Radhika,
Thanks for the undying encouragement. I hope more people will listen and give their opinions.
Love, peace, and harmony through songs,
Udhaya

Radhika/Udhaya/ms/ thanks. for the encouragement. we really needed it :)
on the "naganagana"...we (Suresh/Sridhar and me) were thinking for a hook word to launch the song.
Since you were not around...
We did not get proper ideas Then, Mahesh (one more interesting person I met in NJ)
cameup with something, Sridhar asked me to play the song (i had carried my Korg D16) from nowhere he started to sing "something" gave some crazy words, (few were edited - might come in the next song :)
basically we got what we wanted., rest you know!
:))
Best parts i cheerish in this song is
Sureshs singing and the percussion parts,
meter is not 4/4 :), I played live without much of sequencing
Udhaya on pared down, minimalist song
I feel our QA team is on the job, I took out many parts because QA says adding them did not add any value in the track..so just cut it..like the pros I have a Music director version :)

In the "Advantages of composing prewritten lyrics" thread I had put the link for a tune of mine the lyrics for which were originally penned by Udhaya. This poem of Udhaya inspired me to make a song in vintage SPB style. It is set in 7 beat based pattern. No orch'n. Only vocals.

Srik
Listened to Gramiya Kadhalan. Very good!
Very professional.
The vibe of the live Jam session with the hoos and cries is very good. Catchy tune and not to mention excellent sound quality.
Areas of improvement:
1. Pallavi melody needs to be more sophisticated. The Charanam melody is very good.
2. THe song concept, villagers making fun of
a chitthadaikari is very over-used. (From siththadai kattikittu to Mayilu Mayilu to Usilampatti). You need to add a little twist to that song concept to make it your own and unique as distinguished from all others out there...
Excellent team work! Congrats!

Rjay, Danks. :)
2. may be It is our turn now :)
1. sure...I agree pallavi can be more sophisticated,To make it interesting I have used a different beat cycle, however over a period of time I started to realize if I have too much sophistication in the pallavi it takes time to reach common or "popular" ears.
tha na na na | tha na na ne works better than
dha tha thana ..| na na .. na|
Our Goal in this excercise was to make a common person sing/hum the tune without any support. also we wanted to learn to work on a song for a given situation rather than the tune itself.
These factors kept the pallavi quite simple.
There is always a next time for improvement, we will remember your points, Thanks for your support.
