Let me start this one.(It had been there previously pls. forgive me!)
"Ezhu swarangalukkul ethanai paadal..
Ithaya surangathul ethanai kelvi...
Vaazhum manitharukkul ethanai salanam.."
Wow! Beautiful voice!

Has anyone from here heard the remarkable VJ solo (malayalam) "Lovely Evening" from Chandhanachchola? I just chanced on it - serendepity has never been so delicious - the other day, and was completely awestruck by the composition and the singing. It is a song not to be missed. It has Mood, clarity, insousiance, and oomph - all without a false note. And memorable without a doubt.
I don't know if VJ mentioned this song in her Sangeetha Sagaram stint...did she, Saravanan?
I've heard it nearly half a dozen times in the past week, and each time has only left me craving for more. It's a song on the lines of "Happiest Moment" from Belli Hendthi (?)

No Naaz, I don't recall VJ referring to this song.
Can you provide a link? Would love to hear it!

Saravanan,
Thanks for "Adum kalai". Amazing performance. Listen to how powerfully Vani sings the line "OngkAra oli". Talk about blending the words of the song and the art of singing, in the right place with the right nuance.
Vani starts the charanam "vizhiyOdu moziyAdi idaz pAdumE" so softly in a low pitch and in every following line she ascends one step. All so cleanly and distinctly. And then goes into singing the swaras where again she repeats the same ascent and an increase in pace. Only when the song quickly ends you realize how easily and authoritatively Vani has executed the composition. That feeling is the proof of her limitless grasp and technical excellence.

Saravanan / Neel D -
It is an inspired performance indeed. But I've come to expect such ease and brilliance in this genre (film semi/classical) by VJ. Not that I'm not awed all over again when I do chance on such a rarity as Aadum Kalaiyellam.
The last quarter of the composition is, as Neel D says, masterful. It just fleets by with such velocity and verve, it leaves the listener breathless! (This moment of trepedition on my part, arising in the form of a question: how is she going to climb down from the clear and vaulting heights during many a swarasancharam? - is a constant. It passes into elation just as quickly and seamlessly!)
Saravanan - I have a request:
Would you happen to have copy/file of
Manjal Arraikkum Bodhu, Madhiaeri Parththa Machchan?
Could you please share it with us, if you do?
It would a smooth transition from classical to come hither! :-)

Neel D/ Naaz: Yes, 'Aadum kalai' had been among my favorite VJ songs, and so thought it would be just the right note on which to take leave for a while :)
Naaz: Perhaps you won't have to wait too long, and to you, a wink is as good as a nod ;))

There can be many interpretations of "silence."
Your timing of your song link was a wink, nudge, and forceful rebuttal - all in one!
Such voluminous eloquence - without a single word!
You rule! :-)

A miracle worker though art!
(everyday would be avaricous, but thou dost churn the greed in me :-)!
A thank you from a distance, but for all that, not so poor in depth.
I have been searching high and low for the Manjal Araikkum Bodhu file. I did not have the good sense to save the downloaded file from the website (the file disappeared from the solos section one fine day, and I don't know how or why) and have regretted it since.
Quite the song for early dawn! The sun's not up yet, and the mood's already "hot and bothered!" :-)
It's always an epiphany when one rediscovers a song, and relishes it anew. Like the perfume of a traveling lover, only just returned. How intoxicating that truly is! That's how I feel when I listen to this VJ solo. A slow hum that builds to a smouldering heat.
The "chettinadu" flavour in the singing (could I identify it as such?) is retained throughout. The "illaes" and the "vallaes" perfectly nuanced and authentic; the stresses and pangs of desire - thazuvaththan, the coaxing (yet casual) "mogams," the varied cries of "machchan" that capture minutes of impatience, eagerness, readiness and arousal - all fluidly and decorously achieved.

"Aadum Kalaiyellam Avanaale" is it the song from "Uzhaikum Karangal" in which manju bhargavi performs a dance in a temple? I vaguely remember this song.

There is no hierarchy for Good Grace. The first gesture is just as warming (and equal) as the last.
Thank you for your appreciative words.
(Unfortunately, the link has fizzled. The song doesn't download. My saved file is botched. And I can't listen to the song again! Sriram, please let me know if you had better luck, and if so, how did you swing the download?)

I successfully downloaded the file this morning. I even have a back-up now! (couldn't risk anything this time around.)
Yesterday, it took 32 minutes to download 2%, but today 9 minutes flat - full song!
All's well, that downloads (quick and) well :-)

G.Ragavan,
The "uzaikkum karanggaL" song that you are referring to is "Adiya pAdhanggaL ambalaththil" by PS. Dance by Bhavani. About "Adum kalai", only Saravanan can tell us the movie name.

Was the song Kannannukku Malaiitaal also from Uzhaikkum Karanggal? It is an song in the same vein as Adum Kalaiyellam Avanaale. It would be an easy bet that AKA is an MSV composition...or? We'll have to wait for a confirmation from Saravanan.
On an entirely different note:

I've been look for two albums for many years - rendum flop padam (so that makes it harder to find?) -
The music for both is by Shankar-Ganesh:
Chinna Chinna Veedu Katti (S.A Rajkannu produced, with Sudhakar/Jaya)
+
Dhooram Adhigamillai (Robert-Rajasekharan, I think, with Karthik/Viji.)
Given your sources, and your ability to make these things appear - ta-da - well, I look forward to another ta-da moment! :-)
