Vaanavil Talent Quest 2003

Vaanavil Talent Quest is a prestigious talent quest for amateur singers, with the top prize being a Kia make car. VTQ No. 1’s winner was Sheila Raman who got to sing a song under Bharadwaj in the movie Engey Enathu Kavithai. Bharadwaj was one of the judges of the finals.

Last year’s winner was Alinda Alphonse and she is expected to sing under Harris Jeyraj’s music, who was one the judges of the finals. She sang Rukku rukku rukku splendidly and was a good comedienne too.

Who will be the winner of VTQ 2003 and who will be the MD for the finals?
As usual we will have to wait for Tamil new year to know the results. In the meantime, share your thoughts here.

  yeap ...the malaysian judges voted for someone their standard. Maybe, the next time they don't have to call someone experience as DEVA and humiliate him. can't understand how anuratha won the talent quest... damm lucky when there were better singers then her. can't believe how the local judges voted for her. can they re-evaluate the result ... can happen in events like the prestigious F1 so y not in a program like this where stupid/sub-standard judges make stupid mistakes. hehe ... people like susila menon and shanmugam had to be given hearing aid device the next time ....to avoid making blunder.... i really hated both of them when they opened their mouth to sing ... they think they are the best but i can say as one of the worst singers malaysia had ... so thats y they choose someone their standard ...aaiyo pavam.

  All politics and no talents involved..simple as that...Well after all Anuradha is the daughter of Murugagoo from the AMR gang. They never made it with their slapstick jokes..but definately ASTRO Vaanavil Talent Quest 2003 was good joke..hahaha

  DAMM RIGHT ALL NONSENSE NO TALENT.where were their ears? cant they see anuradha can't sing? well my heartiest condolences to mathan , shamini , saravana kumar.see people like saravana kumar should be picked coz he's got a good voice and a great talent in playing musical instruments. this is where new musical ideas would come up and do something about the industry in m'sia.judges were the biggest idiots in the country. i think all of them are just wannabee's know what i'm sayin?

  VTQ was total utter nonsense. According to my ranking, Jegathisan, Saravana Kumar, Amutha, Shamini...but definitely Anuradha was never in my list!!She killed the song!!!Guys..go and listen to the original song then u'll know what i'm talking about..according to strong sources in the music industry, the result was not the one judged by our judges...judges judged something but the result anounced was something else...it was evident!!!!If this is the pace of VTQ I think just drop the idea of having it at the first place.Priority and recognition should be given to a person who deserves it...but that is not what has happened here....so...Vaanavil can u give an explaination to all this mess.

  wat a sheer waste of my time by watching such a horrendous show. The previous years' shows were great.i mean, wasn't it obvious that Anuradha's unexpected victory was a ploy. What is the big deal if her dad is the comedian, Murugesu of the AMR gang? I guess, she wasn't afraid as she had the favouritism of Susila Menon, Re.Shanmugan and Jack Nada who all knew her dad in one way or another. The point here is, she wasn't deemed to be announced as the winner.her selection of her song was the most tragic one.she was the most boring of all the contestants.her rendition of Kanagi was utter nonsense.according to the Tamil literature Silapathiharam, Kanagi was a very holy woman.i dunno how she acted it out by carrying an M-16! If it was Jansi Rani, maybe the use of the M-16 wud have been a good show. ha ha ha.Furthermore, Kanagi fought for her late husband's justice, she never ventured out for a war! just becoz Anuradha did her stupid rendition with a peace message, she earned herself high marks (7.4) for her talent ???? Come on,she didn't even have to try hard as her victory was already fixed ! I feel the disappointed viewers would not hesitate to boycott this show in the future. So, as a conclusion, VTQ 2003 was a boo- boo event !double thumbs-down for anuradha and the judges !but well done to the hosts, Sumita and Govind for a show well presented. hooray and cheers for the other contestents. my heart goes out to Jegathisan, Saravana Kumar, Kavitha, Mathan and Amutha.

  The judgement sucks..what an insult to Deva..
  Anuradha's singing is full of shit..so flat ..pls listen
  to the original song..u'll know what i mean. Even the other judges and Anuradha Shriram don't approve,,can see from their faces..as for Deva, i really pity him..at one point, MCs told him, it's all up to him..and then, they said, they have to include sms votes as well as all the other judges votes.
  what a sheer nonsense..
  one thing for sure, this year's event not as lively as last year where you u can see the `real' excitement after Alinda Alphonse won the crown.
  A total disappointment! Worst ever VTQ..!!

  Hi,..., first of all with all due respect, this is a free world and lay people like us are entitled to voice out our opinions. If you happen to have a subsequent problem with that, then all I could say is just that your being pretty ignorant. I say that Saravanakumar good for nothing because I know him better than u. I can't help but to express my dissatisfaction towards the judgement forayed during the talent quest. We had loads of superb singers who scored an average score wherelse those who were so-so secured better scores. Is there some sort of denial of fairness going on in here ? Please don't say that I don't know anything about music......I am a carnatic singer for approximately 6 years & just came back frm india after finishing my BA in Music frm University of Madras(Tamil Nadu Music College) and I do know the right swaras and ragas. If you want to ask me why didn't I participate... simple... I know earlier that this will happend. They been doing it for past two years & but now only everybody realising it and one of the criteria to be a contestant is You shd not sing in any album more than one song ...do Saravanakumar fullfill that ??? Even that they took him , If I realy want I can prove or call Vanavil & make him to be disqualified. Comeone Sir I can swear upon my sangeetham knowlege & Devi Kalaivani that he even did't sing well frm the first round. He only got style as a singer because he is a stage singer & use to appear in TV before. I whd like to admid that he did well in 2nd part but not in the singing part.Even Ms. Anuradha Sriram had mention whatever it is don't forget the "SUBSTANCE" that is more important(Singing) & Moreover it is PADAL THIRAN POTTI " So lets leave it as it is and you just go around and have some fun and please don't talk abt what u don't know.Sorry if I being rude here !!!

  I do agree with u ,atlease the first prize shd go as Mr. Deva's result or Jega did well & Mathan also did well but unfor.they didn't get. Just put yr self in Kavitha's position...I feel sad too !! But I can't take it when people say abt the other 6 contestant.Esp. Saravanakumar when we are talking abt the 4 contestant !!Totally unacceptable !!

  Astro did a right thing by inviting harris Jayaraj and Harish Raghavendra last time but this time their choice of the judges was bad and so they had to face the consequences.sorry for the particpants who were put into deep trouble

  sorry to say that i did not agree with the judges results..its really unfair...wasted chossing the unsuitable person...if we see basically and logically i think saravana kumar and jegathisan did well..If you observe well in all the competition all the heats,,we can know that saravanakumar has confidence in him and also perfomed well expecially the second semifinal very talented and nice voice..he also can compose his own song..a singer is selected not only by singing as well as their talents too..judges must judge in various part..anuradha also did well but not as well as saravana kumar and jegathisan..i think they did well even shamini and kavitha and mathan also did well then here...i donno y they judges did that...asking them to judge because they are experience high but they have spoilt their repulatation badly...but anuradha sriram also supported saravanakumar and amutha...but y can deva have a discuss with all the judges before giving a final decision..i think its not fair what he did ..pls vaanavil was respested in past two year for bringging up a talented star up not this anyway past is past one want can do anything we have to expect the final judgement which is consider not fair..sorry for all contestant..expecially to saravana kumar and jegathisan. Anyway vannavil talent quest 2004 let hope for the best..with all this commets you have pls have some changes next year chose better judges who is have more confidence in bring up good singer..thank you..sorry if my word hurt anyone..but its all the fact..byee

As an experiece carnatic singer,who knows the 'ragam and talam' very well, you are person who should voice out.Not just said 'go and have some fun. Is it what you learn?
