One of the TFM pages, someone told “ PS sung 148 songs for IR. (proof.:raajangahm.com “). Someone replied “ no, so many songs are missing”. I just started collecting the songs. Very interesting part is “ some good numbers of IR is sung by PS in telugu
“ chinnathayaval thantha raasaave” – dalapathi ( SJ in tamil)
“valayosi kalakalakala ena kavithaigal - sathya (lata mangehkar in tamil)
“naanoru sindhu, kavadi sindhu” - sindhu bhairavi ( chitra in tamil)
“ore naal unai naan nilavil paarthathu”– ilami oonjaladugirathu ( VJ in tamil)
“kanna varuvaya mere ketkiral” -- manthil uruthi vendum (chitra in tamil)
“manjolai kili thano, maan thano” –kizhake poghum rayil
“ithayam poghuthe,enaye pirinthe” – puthiya vaarpugal (jency in tamil)

  Duets by PS+IR (Or PS + IR sung together in a song)
  
  1. Lakshmi (Thenna marathula thendral adikkudhu). First duet of IR with a a female singer, I guess.
  2. EnakkuL oruvan (Ther kondu sendravan... That Bharatanatyam Jathi was IR)
  3. AlaigaL Oaivadhillai (Many times a beautiful piece of swaram will be repeated in that movie.. Though PS name was not shown in the title cards, it was PS+IR+Chorus. The same swaram was used in telugu version also).
  4. Thaaikku oru Thaalaattu (song's masala... sung by MVD, IR & PS & Chorus.. in that song, PS sings a para "en mannadhi maan naan mannikka sonna.." for Padmini in the same tune of "Adi ennal]di raakkamma"..)
  
  Apart from that,
  
  From Coolie No1 (Telugu... something like "Nizamaa kalayaa"..a fundoo duet; But in tamil version it was by SPB+KSC).

  Good obsevation subbu..
  Are you sure about "alaigal Oyvathillai" piece.. very interesting..
  One more song with IR is "mannavan vaazhum kudi pirantha then pAndi muthe muthe" from pongi varum kaveri.
  Thaikku oru thaaltu starts with "alayile" ( oru kili uruguthu - mix also there in that song).

  Subbu, like Kalai, I too am asking you if you are sure about the 'Alaigal Oivathillai' piece. I seem to remember it by BSS or someone else. Anyway, I'm delighted if it was indeed PS!
  
  Again, I seem to remember reading somewhere that IR's first duet was with SP Shailaja- 'Saamakkozhi ye koovuthamma'- Ponnu oorukku pudhusu. However since both Lakshmi and Ponnu oorukku pudhisu came in 1979, you may be right. Also Pagalil Oru Iravu too came in 1979, having a IR-Jency (of course, with a chorus)song- 'Thottam konda rasaave'.

  "Krishnan vandhaan" was produced by Thengai srinivasan, illaya? Mohan & Rekha acted. In that film, all songs were sung by PS + Mano, I think. One pathos type was very good. Do you know that starting line Sara.Sir?

  1. am 100% sure.. the swaram piece in AlaigaL oaivadhillai, was by PS & Chorus (IR ending with a lengthy humming...) it was a master piece... but our PS was used only for such a swaram... mmmmmm its ok..
  2. Pongi varum kaveri.. yaar nadichadhu??? How many songs by PS in that?

  1. Am 100% about AlaigaL Oaivadhillai... Last week also, the teleugu version was on TV.. IT IS BY P.Susheela.
  2. Lakshmi film duet... I still remember myself and my brother attended the light music prog (1st in a grand scale) of IR for PiLLayar Chathurthi near Luz PiLLayar temple (Luz circle). I was a student that time. PS also sung with him, but she sung only 3 songs (KetteLe ange, KaNNan oru kuzhandhai, Thenna marathula thendral..). Before that duet, IR said "This is my first duet, that too with PS, whom I always respect"..

  Great info, subbu.
  "Oru uravu azhaikkuthu, maru uravu thavikkuthu" is the duet mano and "Thaniyaaga Paaduthu" is a solo from "krishnan Vanthan".
  One more song in PS+IR duet is "aadhi antham illadhavane" from "Paadatha ThEneekal"
  "Pongi Varum Kaveri" actors are Ramarajan and Gowthami. This is the only song for PS and it is good pathos.

  Subbu, I find Kalai has answered your query. The pathos song from Krishnan vandhaan is indeed 'Oru uravu azhaikkuthu'. You are right, the film was produced by Thengai Srinivasan, and had, besides Mohan and Rekha, Sivaji,KRV (perhaps Sivaji and KRV's last film together), Thangavelu, Thengai himself and Nambiar. It was a terrible film and flopped very badly. The songs too weren't too good.
  Thengai suffered huge financial losses and died soon thereafter.

  Is these songs are by PS? Subbu and saravanan, Can you clarify ?
  1. “ Thannam thanimayil iru vizhi inainthau, siragugal naninthathu paniyile” – a chorous from “kAdhal Oviyam”, many places the voice resembles PS voice..
  2. “Ye ayyasamy, nee aala Kami” from varusham-16 between pallavi and charanam, a piece of “themmangu”(chorous), which sounds like PS. The song was by SPB &KSC. But that particular piece resembles PS voice…

  Kalai, I remember both the bits from 'Velli salangaigal' and 'Ye Ayyasami", but I don't feel they are by PS. IR had so many female chorus singers in his troup like Poorani,Indira, Aruna etc. Agreed SJ too has done her bit of chorus singing in some songs-eg: Vaanam keezhey (Thoongathey thambi thoongathey) and the Vikram title song, but I don't think PS has done merely chorus, though she has sung only 2 lines in some songs-eg: Poovile medai(Pagal Nilavu).

  1. I never heard this song of PS+IR duet "aadhi antham illadhavane" from "Paadatha ThEneekal". Who acted in that film. Was MD also by IR?
  2. Also I have never heard "mannavan vaazhum kudi pirantha then pAndi muthe muthe" from "Pongi Varum Kaveri". Is this a duet by IR+PS or solo by PS?
  3. As Saravanan said, the two bits you are referring, are definitely not by PS. I also confirm.

  There is one number by PS+MVD under IR music direction from Mannuketha maindan (or something similar). Ramarajan acted in that film. The song replicates the words of Thanjai N Ramaiah Das. Like the old film songs wordings.. really good one.. What is the starting line?

  Sivakumar & Radhika are starring in "PAdatha thEneekla".I think the dialogues are by Kalaignar."Adi andam illathavane" is a stage drama song and it is a masala mix. You may remember this song " Vanna nilave, Vaigai nadhiye, solli vidava enthan kadaye" by KJY.
  "mannavan vaazhum " is a duet, a pathos by PS+IR, IR sings like " unnai sontham kolla, mannavnaum inge, Ariro aro, arariro..ariro aro aarariro..
  About that.. might mave recorded for some other situation and by some chance he could have used it for the other movies.. Anyhow, I am happy that,he hasnt used her for such bit songs..
  Do you mean that "mannukketha ponnu" song ? "Poon kaathe antha ponnu kitta enna kondu pO, Thaniya ava illama nenjam vaaduthu" is by MVD & PS, I thought it was by IR, but from saravanan I have got the info that it is by GA.

  Yeah as Saravanan said "Poon kaathe antha ponnu kitta enna kondu" is by GA.
  
  But am referring to one song from Ramarajan film like "Mannuketha maindhan" or so... it was MVD & PS, lots of old tamil words like Prabanjam etc were used. Very good song..
  
  In that film, there is a song by KSC+Swarnalatha+Minmini.. it was also a good song.
  
  I guess Gowthami was heroine (not very sure)

  There is a wonderful song in kavikkuil I believe. It goes
  
  "Man oodum padayile, valli than odi pogayile
  vandharam kandhan thandaram sondham, inbam ange
  orayiram"
  
  The tune is very similar to "machhanai partheengala" by SJ.

  Yes Kalai. It is the same Mannuketta poNNu. The song with good old telugu-tamil words (similar to Thanjai N Ramaiah das) were used. Very good song, I believe.

  " sArangaThAra,SangEthaHAra, shyamalane mathana " is the staring line of the song. As you told, it is a good song, sounds like 60's songs."
  Today I have listened both the songs "saarangathara" and "maanodum paathayile" in the morning .. what a coinidence !!

  There is a song Thuli..Thuli..with Mano in the
  movie Kannukoru Vanna Kili..
  The interesting part is there are five songs
  in this movie which are sung by Lata Mangeshkar,Aha and Susheela...Music by IR..
