Muralidharan,
The MVU CD has some songs compsed by Deva for some film, so the guy who encded it thought it was also a song form MVU and had listed under MVU. You can NEVER expect that kind of blatant copy from IR.

Muralidharan!
I have MVU album which has only the following seven songs:
1. Ilavenirkala panjami
2. Koottukkuyilai
3. Thangakkili tholil vachcha
4. Manasa killi
5. Vaanathil aadum or nilavu (KSC)
6. -do- (Mano)
7. Edho edho nenjil oru
The song that you refer must be from some other film (probably by Deva himself)
Don't worry, IR has too much stuff still left to even imagine doing such things!!!

Guys, about the song in MVU, It is clearly marked on the cassette I have that it is a VARI MAATRAM version of Singham Inru, the old song. It's not a copy by IR, but just that the director has asked for the song with the words changed! :)

Muralidharan,
I too have heard only those songs mentioned by eden. I remember seeing a combo MVU+Simmarasi. That song could very well be from Simmarasi, composed by Deva.

I was listening to Kadalar Dhinam songs on the net. The song Dandhia was quite catchy, but it's charanams are just a re-cycle/re-hash of charanams of suthi suthi vandeega (padaiyappa).
The opening lines of charanam of dandhiya which goes something like "Unnai kandu ennam yaavum mella.. Oomai-yaagi ninradhe solla nooru vaarhtai alla alla oru varathai puriydadha" is just a face-paced REPLICA of "Yen kaadhu kadikum kaadhu kadikum.." lines of Suthi Suthi Vandeega song..
ARR-um thaan pota tune-aiye marupaiyum suthi suthi varaaru polaruku!!!

Geetha, I read your post( 4 times!:)) Simmarasi is supposed to have one dance by Sharath in the end, which seems to be the highlight of that film. So, you know why I guessed it, right?! If someone could check what the lyrics suggest, that would help to confirm the above point. I still dont believe it could be from MVU, for two reasons:
1. I dont think it's such a great tune, for someone to ask IR, or, for that matter, anyone, to re-use it.
2. I owned this album, which did not have the song.
- From: Muralidharan (@ host035.databahnsoft.com) on: Fri May 7 17:49:23 EDT 1999
Geetha,
Why not, both Vari Matram & Simmarasi song(?) could both be true? I can't imagine even in my wildest dreams that IR used that tune of the century under pressure from the director and just did a vari matram. Also, I guess MVU would be a soft love story, not any insane hero oriented crap. It should be from Simmarasi is my conclusion.

Kaadhalar Dhinam songs review.
ARR fans, wait before buying this CD. A terrific waste of money. I like ARR music though I am inclined towards IR.
I felt and feel now that IR is no where compared
to any one including ARR. I must say ARR started with best music and quality of his present music
is no where compared to his previous releases like 'Roja', 'Iruvar', 'Minsaara Kanavu' etc., No one
can deny that he is the only MD copied his own music in many songs. But in 'Padaiyappa' and in
'Kaadhalar Dhinam' he has lifted tunes from others too. Most of the songs from this movie sound
like dialogs rather as songs. I am sorry to say that. Many of you will agree with me after
listening to the songs. May be ARR has under the pressure of composing music for many movies at
short time. ARR fans, please listen to 'Iruvar', 'Duet' or some othe albums if you feel you are
let down.
Listen to these songs and other good songs from my site. Compare yourself 'Padayappa' songs with
'Ejamaan' songs. Do not support any one blindly. Support good music. I said music, not sound.

Roja Roja
Pallavi is mere copy of 'Ennaivittal veroruvan kanmaniye...' from 'Nalai Namathe'. This song sounds like the singer reading lyrics instead of singing. Entha padathilinga intha dialogu???
2
Oh maria
Starts with modem sound. Internet based love song?. Indian version of 'You have got mail?'. You can listen to this song. But it will have no impact on you, irrespective of how many times you listen to this song.
3
Dhandiya
Dhaniyaa attamna ennango? Starts with beat from a 'Kalaignan' song by IR, don't remember which song but. Hopeless orchestration too. Part of charanam is lifted from 'Indira' successfully again (again after Padayappa). ARR, tell me how many times you copy the same tune?
4
Enna Vilai
I like this song. Only song you can listen to in this movie. Good flow of music and voice.
5
Kaadhal enum
Not worth to mention
6
Nenaichapadi
Is this a Tamil film or Hindi film? Sounds more like Hundustani music? Why 'Jhankar' beats ARR? Add sound where ever and when ever necessary. Filling all gaps with sound does not necessary turn out good music.
- From: eden (@ 202.54.71.153) on: Sat May 8 00:15:35 EDT 1999
Chandy!
Adhu enna ARR-um? One of his main jobs is recycling. Two examples:
a) Ottkaththa kattikko (Gentleman) & neeyum naanum onnana (Bombay)
b) Maya machcheendra (Indian) & Mustafa Mustafa (Kadal desam). These are actually recycles of Pookkal sindhungal (Nizhal thedum nenjangal)
A recent example is `Pachchaikkiligal tholodu' (Indian) & Suthi Suthi (Padayappa). And as per your post, this has got a third version too! Why should a guy who composes just a few songs in the whole year (some one says `sculptures')should have so much of recycling? Is it not proof enough as to lack of enough stuff?
- From: Shankar (@ webgate0.mot.com) on: Sat May 8 00:58:16 EDT 1999
NOW......The song is definitely NOT from MVU. May be from simmarasi or some cra*p movie......
I have the cassette with me and i enquired a cassette shop owner about that particular song and he too says there's no such song in MVU.

I second Murali's opinion, that the tone of songs from MVU and this particular song dont match. Deva fans, what's your take on this?

Hi
Happend to hear roja roja from Kadhalar dinam,
sounded like thu hai raja ... in varumai neram sivapu...same notes in pallavi
copy or coincidence!

Srikanth, yes, even i noted the similarlity in the tunes. Raoja roja and tu hai raja/raqni in VNS

coincidence, of course.

Hey!
Did anybody notice the song in the recent Sun tele-film Namakkul Irukkattum? It is a ditto kappi of IR's KavalaipadAde SagotharA (Thiruvona Thirunalum Vanthallo).
Title says thanks to Deva for music(?).
- From: Geetha (@ gatekeeper.oracle.co.uk) on: Mon May 10 06:45:20 EDT 1999
Guys: About the Deivam song, it definitely is in MVU, I have seen Simmarasi and it's not in it, nor is the singer of the song attributed in it. It is a Vari Matram(Word change) in MVU. It was first composed by IR and sung by Malaysia Vasudevan, this time is a the same music, with words changed and another singer. Let me check again, but I'm sure it's in MVU, as a Deva song will not be attributed as vari Matram normally, but simply be put as an original!!!!!
Shankar: The cassette shop owners are not the be all end all of music or the material on the tape:) As I have seen the movie Simma Rasi, and it's the first song in the CD of MVU, and it's been attributed as a Vari Matram, I would conclude that it's from MVU. I will have this confirmed, as in this forum, IR is not even allowed to re-use a song of his that is not liked by you guys and if someone disputes it, it becomes an arguable point!
