Today i saw Ninaithale Inikkum.. Songs were pleasing. But the BGM big ZERO from MSV. One romantic scene between Kamal and Jayapradha. What does our MSV do? He hums in the background with his terrible voice. His choice of music is awful.
IR would have had field day with these kind of scene.
Vegam Vegam pogum pogum magic... IR was truly a magical pheonmenon

Awe, like a moron that you are, you could not even see the message in my posting. Instead you begin bashing me. I guess some guys like you are too stupid to learn anything.

Nijam why don't you take part in a more "elite group" of discussion? Your postings never exceed more than one line or two. That's all you have to say. Talk something with substance or get away. This topic is about BGM of MSV. You neither talked about BGM nor about MSV which says you are here to go after IR. Who invited you here anyway?

Most of the (positive) comments are in to be read in conjunction with MSV-RAMAMURTHY. This is a known fact, the combination worked out wonders.

MSV ,except for a few songs which had composed ( i suspect IR was playing combo at that time for him and they could be IR s tunes) his contribution to TFM is nil.He did not know what BGM is.above all he did not know what are B ,G ,M as he was not educated.
I saw Pasamalar few days back.It sucks big time!Mohan would have been the ideal choice.Had it had R Sunderrajan as director and IR as MD the movie would have got nominated for Oscar...Why nominated..it would have won one for its BGM alone.
Vengayam .. somewhere you had said " This BGM business is revolting".You are right.
HCIRF
The only people like Venkatamahi,Tyagaraja,Bach,Beethovan have been left out in your mudslingling campaign. With fans like Awe i see those threads coming. For a man who was not even known north of Andhrapradesh you are taking so much pains to project him as an avatar.
Your being stupid & shallow is not a crime but being proud of it is and it really irks.

Yes,against Taliban the entire world had to unite to fight terrorism.

I concur with you OISG.
Earlier today, in reply to Kiru's message on why the knowledgeable people do not rise to defend IR when they do the same to MSV and ARR, I responded as follows:
Kiru
I was a normal TFM fan, until I came to this forum. All the venomous postings against other cinema personalities (this thread is a good example) by the various hard core fans of IR has made a IR-basher. Now, I can't stand to listen to his music, and quickly switch channels when a 80s song is played.
I am sure there are many people like me in this forum, and all of you have to take the blame for "popularising" IR and his music. This has been the hard core fans contributions. Please think about it seriously.
Your position is like Osama bin Laden blaming the passengers in the doomed flight for having chosen to fly the plane that fateful day.
Expectedly, instead of damage control, the originator of this thread went ahead and started bashing me. A typical Taliban behaviour, which tolerates no difference in opinion.
Come to think of it, there is not much difference between the Taliban and the likes of Awe, Unmai and other HCIRFs.

As this was a BGM thread I did not peep in at first. But This MSV bashing has to stop. So I thought i'll just have a look. This time HCIRFs have done themselves proud. They have plumbed new depths. Yes OISG we did discuss about BGm in some other thread where some fanatic claimed he sees movies for only BGM. That had me in stitches. It is like saying Madurai mani Iyer katcheri just thani kettpadharkka ponaal maathiri. Imagine !!
I would like to start a thread to discuss the merits & demerits of IR music but these fans will not allow me to have my say. ( last night I heard Kannan oru kai kuzhandai after a long time & was spell bound by the simplicity of the tune & the easy melody. where & when did he lose it?)

Is MSV above criticism or what?
There was this artcle in kungumam about 10-15 years back which said the same thing-to quote-rerecording thankku theriyadhu enbadhai msv-ye oppukkolvar.
not a single msv fans protested at that time.so,'awe'is not alone in his observations.
I think, nijam, oisg and host of others operate on the assumption enemy's enemy is friend.MSV is poor in BGM-his songs are above criticism.

IMHO MSV is NOT a terrible in BGM. He is terrific in BGM at many many many instances. Might be that IR is better than MSV in this department. But definitely MSV is NOT POOR or terrible in BGM.
A sample of overall performance of scene making:
In the film pudhiya paravai during the climax sivaji is forced by circumstances to narrate that he killed his wife. Its a treat to watch. Superb action, superb camera and listen to the music. Definitely one of the great scenes in Indian Films (overall category i.e. in front of camera as well as behind the camera effort). A similar great example could be from Raaja Paarvai wherein the heroine will be impatiently waiting for her relatives to move out so that she can go and meet her boy-friend, is depicted greatly by action, camera as well as music. The former film was music-ed by MSV and the later by IR. One should see these two scenes in big-screen to appreciate the music.
Its doing injustice to a great composer by terming his BGM as terrible, that too living during a period where BGM means ONE AND ONLY churning out lalallaa lalaalaa version of the song (or) sometimes may be in a sophisticated way.

When i was in school ( 1979 /1980 ) ,Kumudam used feature X Vs Y every week. One week it was MSV Vs IR.As usual there were "brat"ish comments without fully understanding the contributions of MSV.The Pro IR girl mentioned about technology IR was using and complained that MSV was using outdated techniques. hmm...... Kalam eppadi Suzhalgirathu....today the same technology has become the villain!
Despite my poor writing skills and with age not on my side i chose to write to Kumudam. But next week Kumudam had mentioned "EraLamana Kadithangal kandanam therivithu vanthullana"...and the matter was closed.
MSV fans always have a wholesome appraoch to songs. They will be invariably Sivaji/MGR/Kannadasan/TMS/PS fans as well. The 60s being the best period of TF,always songs would never be discussed in isolation.I remeber whenever the topic starts on Sumaithangi -Sridhar,KD,MSV,PBS,Gemini,Devika no one would be missed. When the person talks about Gemini it would jump to Naan Avanillai "Mandara Malare",Thanumalaya etc..
But who would discuss Mohan s/Ramarajan s/Raj Kirans acting with lyrics by Gangai amaran and a stupid Na.Kamarasan.Even the other ones like Vaali,Pulamaipithan were singing praises to IR rather then writing good lyrics.
MSV fans' attraction towards ARR is natural,we see a similarity in style, humility, working respecting the other professionals like VM,Shankar, etc. The reemergence of decent and reasonable meanigful lyrics with the advent of ARR is another point.
IR has told many a time that all he has done so far are "Urugai".I wonder why the HCIRF are going gai gai over the urugai.

well OISG,
similar style in MSV and ARR?
humility with other professionals if so why not many MSV fans are fans of Deva as like that of ARR?
Its just the same veezhthiyavanai veezhthiyavan nanban plays more role in it. These humility, style and other points are kind of "invented" one for argument sake (IMHO).
I am not saying/arguing whether this stand is good or bad.

OISG,
In wht way is your above post related to our topic?
Ur post suggests that it was IR's mistake for not producing such wholesome output or approach or whatever..
If only Kannadhasan stayed a little more in this world..mmmm...
U safely ommitted some great acting from Kamal,Rajini,Revathi,Radhika,Radha..some great lyrics from KD,Vairamuthu etc etc..some splendidly directed scenes by Maniratnam,BR,Mahendran,KB etc etc..
For IR's calibre whatever he delivered is urugai..we all know that IR is more capable than this ordinary filmi stuff..but intha urugayey ivalavu inbathai tharum bothu arusuvai unavu parimarinal eppidi irukkum?
MSV fans attraction towards ARR is nothing but they want to see some one over take IR who overtook MSV..and surely not becoz of that wholesome output or approach or whatever..
If some new MD overtake ARR then all IR fans will surely go behind him ..thats psychology..
Just wanted to make it clear that dont try to blame IR for bad lyrics or bad acting...IR cant produce sivaji or kannadhasan..
Even though your post doesnt criticize IR direclty the tone is like that..
NOM

"MSV fans attraction towards ARR is nothing.."
Who r u to judge somebody else' taste in music peeps?
Then I too can make sweeping statements like IR Fans attraction towards current day IR music is nothing but... Wud u like it?
"veezhthiyavanai veezhthiyavan"
"some one over take IR"
Looks like some IR Fans here r tripping over each other to declare ARR has overtaken IR. If a non-IR-Fan was to say tat, he/she wud have become the subject of much mud-slinging by now.
