Unearthing Rare Golden Oldies of TFM into MP3s

There are many many wonderful songs in old TFM (especially belonging to the period before 1980) which many of us have heard and enjoyed in the days of their popularity, but, as years rolled by those songs came to be heard only rarely. This thread is an attempt to unearth such golden oldies. Those who have longed to hear such songs can make a "nEyar viruppam" request here. In response, those who have the songs can convert them into MP3s and share it with others here. Through sites like coolgoose.com and Yahoo briefcase, it is now possible to do such sharing easily.

As rare songs are unearthed and brought out as MP3s, it would be natural to listen to them and discuss them here, so that this thread does not simply become just a set of requests and supplies.

My sister Sathya Kabali has a large collection of rare TFM goldies in cassettes and she is in the process of converting them into MP3s and putting them in coolgoose. The songs she has uploaded are available at this link:

  I had listened a song "Kann Vizhi Enpathu Kattalai Ittathu" from some site. It was by KJY and SJ. music was by MSV. Movie name was Vallaiyal Chatham. Song was good. But cudn't download the song. Also cud not get the other songs. song sounded like 80's song. any idea about the movie? any other song in that movie?

  Does anyone have the fantastic Jikki solo in the film 'Kangal'. The song is: 'Aadi Paadi dinam Eesan Paadattai kaana mudiyathu'. If I am not mistaken the music is by SV Venkatraman. It's an outstanding solo by Jikki whose voice soars to the highest pitch without the slighest shrillness or 'sruthi pisagal', one of her earliest TFM. Can anyone upload this. And can Manisegaran or someone else give details abt this rare golden oldie.

  S. Ramaswami, you have mentioned an eternal classic, sir. What a wonderful song is ‘Padi paadi dhinam thedinaalum--’, and what a wonderful artiste Jikki is! Unfortunately, I don’t have the song on CD.
  
  Every bit of the song is dazzling--the fervent virutham at the outset—‘kaadhalaagi kasindhu kanneer malgiyae, karpooram nenmalar thannaiyum saathiye--’ followed so seamlessly by ‘paadi paadi dhinam thedinaalum avan paadham kaana mudiyaathu, eesan paadham kaana mudiyaadhu’—the way Jikki brings in that ‘Eesan’ (as if its insertion was an afterthought) is so stimulating. She soars to uncharted heights in ‘arpudhangal pala sedhidum siththargal agathilum aandavan illai’ and then with a graceful sweep descends with ‘narpayan illadha naasa velai seiyya satta vigyanathil illai, and clutching on to ‘endru ariyaamal’ lands back comfortably at ‘paadi paadi’-breathtaking!
  
  And if Jikki is all pious and soaked in emotional outpouring in this song, what a transformation she undergoes in ‘Koodu sellum paravaigalae’ in the same film—how merry and mischievous she sounds in this one! Truly, if there was one sadly underutilized talent in tfm, it is Jikki.
  
  Yes, Kanngal-1953 had music by SV Venkataraman. Veteran SV Venkataraman was one of those MDs who understood that nothing was beyond Jikki's infinite capabilities, for wasn't he the blessed man who introduced Jikki in Gnanasoundari-1948 (the beginning lines in 'Arul thaarum devamaadhavae'). Other memorable songs that Jikki sang for SVV include 'Inbanaalithe' (Manohara), 'Meenaippila kannalae'(Nan Nambikkai)Yenendru nee sollu thendralae' and 'Aasai nila sendrathae'(Maaman Magal).

  By the way, do you guys remember this old tamil movie
  called Dhoorathu Idi Muzhakkam. I think it might
  have starred Vijayan or was it Vijaykanth in one of his early roles.. don't remember. It was a vago movie.. and I remember feeling very very bored seeing it as a child on TV. However, there was a nice song.. Ullamellam Thalladuthey (KJY ?) Don't remember the music director.. Does any one have this song?
