  I think IR should start working on some collaborative projects with instrumentalists and singers...I think no such good offers has come his way yet....it wil be nice to hear fusion music of IR say with Zakir Hussain or some western Jazz musicians etc.

  it is not the delay of the symphony that bothers me . it is the elusive replies that Raaja renders that leads me to believe that he is just a not a person worth all the accolades. you ask him about music - raja replies that 'what i make is not music ; i don't know music;kadavul vutta vazhi ' and all that balderdash.
  
  After all , what is wrong in admitting a failed attempt. everyone knows that there is no parallel to Raaja in India . as a fan of raja i don't think that the symphnony would be junk .
  
  i personally feel that Raja is going through an identity crisis. ARR certainly had grabbed a lot of limelight(certainly with second grade stuff) and raaja with all the aptitude is still a nobody when compared to ARR's name recognition. hence he has turned peevish and it prompts him to say such asinine things.
  
  look at his double standard when he turned symphonish; "pop music is plastic" . don't tell me that Raaja hasn't made one pop tune.
  
  in one of the hey ram interviews he goes," enna pathi naanae solla koodadhu but solla kazhtama irukku...." . then why the hell are u making that statement .there are a lot of unsung musicians in this world. mozart never got his recognition till later. MSV was not known nationally . why is raaja whining and doesn't he realize that unsung heroes are part of every sphere.
  
  to fuel his battered ego ; we have this site called raajangaham . which is nothing but a site for Ilarayaraja and not his music .
  
  i rememeber reading some material from one of the creators in that site trying to depict raja as a pious man and that he never had an ego etc.
  
  who cares if Raja is a pious or an arrogant man . i don't want raja to be a role model . i just want to listen to his music. of course , like Sivaji lamented ; everybody would like to be recognized . do it the right way like sivaji did and stop elusive whining like a peurile jerk ,muttering things like " i don't know music "etc .
  
  and for Raja's music sake ; stop pimping raja and really spread his music as opposed to apotheosizing him.

  i wholeheartedly agree with you. but, i believe that symphony is not a failure. many persons who have heard it praised it a lot.
  
  remember, raaja is also a human being. he will be having his dark moments and he would utter such nonsenses.

  Some one earlier had rightly quipped whether IR can compose a Symphony within a month. Eevn if it is true what will be the quality of such symphony ?
  If you have heard "How to name it, Nothing but wind" you can judge teh quality. When IR played this to Paul marriet the french modern composer he asked an English knowing French man to translate the title to french. The man promptly translated is as "Nothing but 'Fart" " (!)
  (i.e) Nothing but "Kusu" !
  
  Some "kusu" symphony !

  Actually IR has done with the symphony...
  and it is good...but u see..the problem is...he did it using his iMac ...and he dunno how to export it to a CD or any other media...so he couldn't send it to the producers...
  
  mmm...it's been a while u see.....and not only that...he even forgot the login password to the system........so..he is trying to crack(his head) it..

  Now I know how ARR churns out hits after hit. He knows the copying technology from original to CD-R and he burns all other pop hits to his own. Since IR has original CD he doesn't know may be he should give it to ARR to copy and paste as his own compilation.

  I have not read any messages so far since I know most of them are Trash anyway! I arrived at theat easy conclusion after seeing the nicks of some of the recent posters.
  
  My honest opinion is that something like "Symphony" will have select audience. Even internationally it will cater only to a select audience because classical music is very limited in popularity.
  
  I have no doubts about IR's prowess in bringing out some majestic tunes. However I am skeptical as far as international fame and publicity goes. If it is marketed well and has good publicity and "international appeal" it will do loads of goodness to IR and his poorly showcased talent.

  on what basis did you think WCM is limited in popularity?just because your circle of friends
  do not listen to it?
  You are very much mistaken-the most popular commercial station in UK is classicfm which plays only classical music 24 hours.You should see the attendance in BBC proms which is an annual WCM event for which ticets are sold out months in advance.I myself am an avid WCM listener-a few concerts I have attended were all completely sold out.So , get out of this idea that WCM is limited in popularity.

  IR is a Genious - which is already an established fact, U ppl just cannot win in your debates.
  
  Do u think Hariprasad Chaurasia who is internationally acclaimed wud've played for NBW if he had not liked it. NBW, relased 15 years ago is already a famous album, Praised by so many music critics and fans & still sold as a fresh album in shops such as Landmark & musicworld.
  Your interpretation of the french interpreter will not degrade the album value. The translater might be a musical genious but just imagine what wud have been his comment, if he'had been asked to listen and give the opinion of music of great carnatic & hindustani musicians here.
  Can the French who gave the comment, rehearse and play a Maya Malawa Gowla in a Western Classic Style fusing Veena, Violin, Flute and Guiter as IR did in HTNI (or) can he give songs on 700+ raagas?.No - he Cannot, unless he familiarize with our style of music.
  It is quite difficult to get adhered to new form of music. For yr info even Bombay Dreams had worst reviews in the beginning but later picked up like anything. Negative reactions are expected from certain circles and i just pity u for having taken as a 'vedha vakku' and coming out in this thread as an interpreter.
  Do u think u yourself can forget his beautiful melodies and varieties of music offered by him over the past two decades.Inspite of abrupt rise in new songs, all tv & radio channels are still flooded with IR old songs. With his 25 years of experience he has all the capabilty of conducting a grand orchestra and come out with a grand symphony.
  Indians have great potential. It will take time for the orientals to realise.
  Just wait, relax and enjoy.

  Velji is one of those 'spoiled' souls. He has been trying to degrade IR in many threads. You don't have to explain to him about IR's achievement. He can't understand bcos he is mentally s$$crewed.

  You are the only (as)soul in this whole universe who thinks HTNI and NBW are bad. Well that proves your taste in music. You obviously can't tell the difference between good music and bad music.
