It is a known fact that with Baba, ARR has marked his 10th year in TFM in a Big Way.
The beneficiaries of this prodigy's talents, tat’s us the fans, have decided to call for Celebrations in a Big Way.
Hence, a Constellation of ARR Fans from the newtfmpage Forum got together and took a walk down memory lane, through each year of A Decade of Rahmania.
The fruit of our labour saw the creation of a whole new Website, "10 Years of Universal Conquest", in Dedication to ARR.

Oh that link had an SPB interview. In the last paragraph he speaks about the state of TFM but doesnt mention IR or ARR...so I didn't get what Ambleen was trying to convey !

Ur welcome kaumudi.
Looks like ambleen is very eager to wrap up our thread and sending it packing to the Archives. Oh well...
Thx for the link, Are Yaar.
Cosmo, let me go back... my first brush with ARR's music.
To be quite honest, I cant remember the exact moment. But I was in high school then. An uppity girls school where the Indian girls were quite divided into 2 groups; the girls who took Tamil as 2nd lang and the girls who did not. I was of course in Tamil as 2nd lang group. The other grp were not composed of non-Tamils. to the contrary, they were mostly Sth Indian gals whom, wit the help of their parents, had managed to beat the system and settle for Malay as 2nd lang. And my grp did not consist of all Tamils either, but had a good mix of Malayalam, Telegu & Karnataka gals. It's not like the 2 grps did not mix. To the contrary we were all good friends. But the divide was tat while we listened to Tamil songs and watched Tamil movies, the other grp did not. In fact, they turned their nose up on Tamil culture.
Anyway, Roja arrives and guess wat...all of a sudden the snobs wanted to know wat it was all about. And yes, even the most hardcore ones tuned into Gentleman, Roja & Thiruda Thiruda.
10 years later, i've lost touch wit most of them except a handful whom i know still listen to TFM. but i'll always remain proud of ARR for changing the perception of TFM among the youth.

WN:
Thanks for mentioning those tidbits...(I sort of identify with that).
3 weeks back there was an interview with Nagarjuna in Times of India, where he was asked, "Why do south indians pour so much adulation on their heroes and go to the extent of building temples for them?". Nagarjuna flared up and indicted them for their ignorance, saying only a few fans fall for mass-appeal kind of stuff and the majority of fans are the discerning type. He berated them for their ignorance of south indian tastes.
In a similar way, after coming out of TN, I am able to appreciate much better the feats of people like Rehman, MR, Santosh sivan, who have made the whole of India sit up and take notice of TFM.

Guys..... i was going through dhool.com today and found a song which I've been searching for quite sometime... Its the piano theme music from andhimandharai based by kalyani with a beautiful varnam by unnikrishnan...does anyone have the mp3 version of it....
- From: magix (@ 203.199.231.124)
on: Tue Oct 1 21:43:18 EDT 2002
Hi thiru..
I have one. But then, there's no vocal by Unnikrishnan :(.. it's jus got a flute piece.
Then there's a theme music for the film again in flute. VERY beautiful. Tabla and female Harmony included too. Atha vitta, 'Sakiyae' by Unnikrishnan.
i guess that's not exactly what ur searchin for. But i'll let u know by today.

Good points...WN, Prabhu...
Was listening to "Vennilavin Theril..." from Duet.
Earlier I had listened to these songs on a small 2-in-1. This time I played it on a good setup with sub-woofer etc. and the one thing that really struck me was the icy - crashing synth sweeps in the songs that goes perfectly with the picturization of crashing waves in the young. And the violent sweeping of the violins potray the stormy feelings of the situation complemented beautifully with the sad melody and lyrics. This song is a masterpiece !

UV,
Ya I am hooked, enjoying and what not. More than me surprisingly my father is enjoying a lot. He has hijacked my cassette and was listening all Sat and this sun in Walk Man. Three melodious songs a simply mesmerising.
But my favourite is the Vaan Nila. What a Jaaz-Rock & Roll type song it is!

I'm totally hooked to Vaan nila too!
sounds too cool!
hey, ever realised Clinton sounds so much like ARR? He sings "Kathale... oh Kathale" in the last song with Mano.
For a minute i thot it was ARR.
and, the more i hear it the more i start lovin it! Rahman kalakeetaru! has he experimented or what!

For those who are not used to ARR magic, Let me tell you what it is (at least for me). The more you listen the more you discover new things in it. The small sounds and rythms are discovered each time you listen to it. Its a very happy experience. This are AIMHO.
