  SPB is getting ready to give a full-fledged Carnatic concert during this December season, under the aegis of Sri Bhairavi Gana Sabha at Anantapadmanabhaswami Temple, Adyar.

  spb the man with the divine voice has at last is giving a carnatic music performance. spb has already proved his god gifted talent in Shankarabaranam. Hope the performance would be a masterly one. SPB who is not singing many tamil film songs nowadays due to music directors is providing an excellent oppurtunity to hear his divine voice in carnatic musice.
  
  IN this he need not dependent on the music directors and crores of his followers will throng to his music performance.

  Thanks for the info! (You are surely an info-bank :-)). This concert by SPB will be something to look forward to. Is he the only Southern film-singer (after Yesudas, Unnikrishnan and probably Chitra) to give a full-fledged Carnatic recital? I hope some recording company issues audio-tapes of SPB's concert, and I also hope that SPB will continue to enthrall listeners in this domain, just as he has been giving us one gorgeous film song after another.

  by the way, have you heard 'Paadum Vaanampadi' songs, way back in the mid 80's, this was remake of Mithun Chakaroborti's mega hit, 'Disco Dancer'.
  
  Just listen to Hindi verion and the tamil version, the tamil version has all the songs by SPB, ok Hindi lyrics suits the tune better, but SPB's tamil version is far better.

  Now, stick the thread, if u want 2 show your hatred towards Raghu, then I suggest, u open a thread called 'Raghu Vs Duplicate Raghu' or some thing.

  SPB is a great singer and I am a fan of him. But he is NOT the greatest singer India had ever produced!.
  
  My rating goes like this: KJY>SPB>RAFI (please exclude TMS in the list as he terribly lacked melody in his voice and used to sing at irritating high pitches!)
  
  I do post this rating after listening to most of the songs of the three (in different languages).
  
  In Tamil film songs I rate SPB greater (in fact greatest) than any other (Hariharan, Shankar, Unnimenon, Unnikrishnan).
  
  There used to have imitators for SPB (Mano), and RAFI (Mahendra Kappor), eventhough not to perfection.many times, when Mano sings, I get to the feel of SPB (not in all songs).
  
  But there is not even a single imitator for KJY!!!---WHY????
  
  Because his voice can't be imitated by anyone!!!
  
  There are different reasons for me to rate KJY on top.
  
  1. Unanimous blending of classical(Kutcheri and not classical pieces in film songs) and Film music which seems to adhere more to light music.
  
  2. Unmatched sweateness in voice
  
  3. Ease of producing Gamakas
  
  4. "Sea depth" in lower octaves.
  
  One can not realize all these if he/she is tuned to listen few hundred tamil film songs of KJY and rate him amongst SPB and RAFI.
  
  Listen to the malayalam songs of KJY else please exclude him from the list of comparison!. I truly see that the comparison is based on Tamil songs. For those who doesn't have the data of KJY malayalam songs, I hereby quote a few of the Legend's songs.
  
  1. Pramadavananm vendum... (Raga: Kapi) (Film: His Highness Abdulla)
  
  2. Devanganangal.. (Raga: Kalyani) (Film: Njan Gandharvan)- you'll know the sweetness!
  
  3. Neeraduvan..(raga: Sudha Saveri) (Film: Nakhakshatangal)- you'll realize what gamaka is!
  
  4. Anuragalolagatri.. (Raga: Kapi) (Film: Dhwani)
  
  5. Harimuraleeravam... (raga: Sindhubhairavi) (Film: Aram Thampuran)
  
  6. Srivinayakam (raga: Hamsadhwani) (Film: Bharatam) - (ultimate song!)
  
  7. Ottakkambi nadam (raga: Madhyamavati) (Film: Thenum vayambum) (you'll feel the real bass!)
  
  8. Sumuhoorthamay (Ragamalika - Hamsadhwani, Abhogi, Saramati, pathuvarali, Madhyamavati)(Film: Kamaladalam)-(top one!)
  
  9. Nadabhrahmatin.. (ragamalika) (Film: kattukurangu)
  
  10. Sayanthanam.. (raga: Mand) (Film; Kamaladalam)
  
  11. Sangethame.. (raga: Jonpuri) (Film: Sargam)
  
  12. Ramakadhaganalayam (raga: Subhapanthuvarali) (Film: Bharatam) (ultimate!)
  
  
  I am posting this list because I feel that people in this forum doesn't have enough database for KJY Malayalam songs.
  
  KJY's Hindi songs (jab deep Jale Ana, Bole to Bansuri, Kahan se aye Badra, Gori Tera, Ni Sa Ga Ma Pa Ni, Chand Akela, Teri tasvir Ko) are far superior to SPB's Hindi songs (Tumse Milne Ki, Jiye To Jiye, Nam Gum Jayega, Dekha he pehli bar) both in rendition and fluency.KJY's Hindi songs are really a treat to the ears.
  
  So, overall I would say that Dr.KJY has an edge over Dr.SPB and RAFI.
